@The Adam Up for a chellenge? Try to create a block which fills in a rectangular pattern of objects in 2 orthogonal directions. But it needs to have a rotation action as well so that the pattern can be rotated and still be editable. It's giving me a headache even though it seems so needed and basic I'm astounded and furious there's no direct easy way of getting it done...if any. Think of a theater of seats which can have n x m seats and can be placed in either corner of a huge shopping center facing east, west, north or south with the screen.

When i stretch my hatch just moves in L shape rather than stretching
While hatching, do it with Select Objects from the command bar
It's late but make sure that a) your hatch is associative, b) your stretch window does not contain the whole hatch geometry but only part of it c) not sure at the moment but if I remember correclty you should stretch the line geometry the hatch is associated to, not the hatch itself. It's either a+b or a+c.
