  • EV Everse 8 VS AlphaTheta WAVE-EIGHT - Which is better?
    Everse 8
The first battery-powered loudspeaker from Electro-Voice and the first weatherized model of its type, EVERSE 8 takes advantage of decades of Electro-Voice engineering expertise - along with the latest advancements in technology - to provide a truly portable and truly wireless audio experience.
    WAVE-EIGHT
Cable-free DJing without sound delays is now possible with the WAVE-EIGHT thanks to SonicLink. This new ultra-low-latency technology wirelessly transmits audio much faster than a Bluetooth connection so only a fraction of a second passes between pressing play on the decks and hearing the track through the speakers, which lets you mix without missing a beat.

Personally I got two of the Everse 8 , smaller , easier to move plus I link both Everse either with an xlr or my xvive and you get more loud clarity for ceremony with the mic. Then after the ceremony I use one for my monitor , practical and great speaker.

With the everse 8 you can power two mics (Sennheiser EWDX dual mic/ expensive option) (Shure Slxd dual mic/ my option and cheaper). I use that (2 lavs) and an aux cord for ceremonies (don’t trust Bluetooth).
I like the technology behind the wave 8 but can’t get over the size and ugliness. Great review Nick! Thank you!

LOL couldn't wait until the end. The commercials got me. I hate bluetooth. When I turn the volume Up or Down I want it to work immediately. Nothing worse than having people say I can't hear anything or it's too loud and you make an adjustment and have to wait for it to work.

You can also use the usb c out on the wave 8 to power a microphone receiver. I have an Alto TS08 with a battery pack for a wireless ceremony speaker currently, it has the usb out as well and I use that to power a wireless mic receiver. With a small battery pack velcro'd on the speaker I get about 4 hours cranking. May have to look into upgrading to the Wave 8 this summer.

    Here's the thing.
Everse 8 has digital mixer included, its smaller, its got a good battery, and it powers a mic receiver.
Wave Eight, it is heavier, a little bigger, slightly less loud, BRAND NEW WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY, and still rocking.
If you already have Everse 8, I wouldn't sell yours for a Wave Eight unless you're a trendy on top of technology type. If you have been debating on an Everse 8, this is where I can see a potential option to get the Wave Eight. I especially think the technology for the wireless transmitting is going to become a really big deal in the near future.
You won't go wrong with either choice based on what I saw. Thanks for the videos Nick, appreciate having something to feed my hyperfixation with DJing 😅

    Great review as usual Nick!
To be honest, I'm still happy with having Everse vs the Alpha-Theta. I use 2-3 mics at times and can still make it work with the EV. The worst part of the ceremony setup is carrying the tripod. It is absolutely clutch.
Now that said, I would be interested in the A-T for satellites if I didn't already have a really nice wireless sending option. Alto Stealth Pro receivers are amazing, and you can power them from the 12v connection on the EV. It still remains truly wireless and the setup is simple.
All in all, I would still go with the EV since it handles everything I need to do, without having to haul anything that won't fit in a small backpack.

    Hey Nick,
Great review!!! With the rundown on your Ceremony setup that you described, does that mean you pretty much ALWAYS need power at the site? I often do Ceremonies out in the middle of nowhere and everything needs to be running on battery.
In these situations I use a Bose S1 with my iPad for music via Bluetooth, and then a Shure PG58 combined with an Xvive U3 for vows etc. Of course with a pair of Xvive's the S1 will take 2 x mics.

Yeah but it’s in the same price range and for DJs (not wedding) who search for a good speaker for outdoor raves which is more than just loud and chunky (soundboks) it’s interesting to compare.
I mean the alpha theta possibility to link three boxes and use just one as an subwoofer (via app software frequency steering) is unique in the Batterie PA market (since now) and could be compared to a stereo Everse 12 set.

These speakers have no more than 40 watts continuous RMS.
Manufacturers purposely lie about their power. These big numbers you read are only on paper.
It’s simply impossible to ask a battery to provide so much current for hours and hours.
    do not be fooled guys.

This feels like the swap shop version of a true wireless speaker.. took an 8" pa speaker way to large for its size.. added a side cubby. tossed in a low latency 5g wifi dongle that connects to a mixer and called it some fancy link name. Requires an outboard mixer for actual stereo with 2 units. Cmon man. good wifi dongles been on amazon years now for $50. this is nothing new.. and this speaker shouldnt even be compared to an everse.. Noob trap all day. LOL If you gonna compare.. use the alto busker at $350. It is more fairly rated against it spec wise except the alto has an app and actual ecosystem. The only positive on the wave is the soft dome tweeter.. but is that a positive? It isnt even covered or grilled and is used in sensitive studio monitors for a reason. Titanium dome tweeters are tougher and stand up to the rigors of road use. A good eq can dial in a great tone. Not sure I'm interested in an uncovered, soft tweeter being exposed night after night to gigging abuse even if its a little smoother.. 110 watts and can act as a sub? Maybe in a 10x10 bedroom! Can't stop laughing man. Also,, since the 8" 110 watt wave 8 seems to be about the size of a typical 12" with the weight to match, it will probably sound about the same in volume while you are near them both. Step away 40 feet. then you can tell what 400w vs 110w long throw sounds like.

SonicLink looks just like the specs of SKAA Audio - so go get a set of those. Put 100$ more on the desk and get the Everse 12, about the same weight and size as the Wave Eight. I have heard/seen that AT suddenly start co-op with smaller EU youtube influencers on both products, so something tells me that the sale of Omnis Duo and Wave Eight up untill now has been a flop, and now they are trying to push it again. And this so-called review isn´t anything else than a Wave Eight commercial.

btw they had to use the IPX rating on the Wave Eight, because the X says nothing about particles, and with a softdome almost unprotected in that horn the IP rating would have been something like IP14

The Wave-Eight is only worth if it was $350-$400 dollars... Plastic feels cheap. The style is ugly with fake vents, huge grill with a small driver behind it... Dome Tweeter is cheap use proper compression next time... On a full charge at full Volume battery dies in 2 hours.. (Pool Party tested)... The only thing that works well is the SonicLink wireless connectivity.. and its not as powerful as you think. (I tell it as it is... not sponsored by anyone)
This is really a gimmick speaker.... Like I said its work $400 tops!!
I got a review on it coming soon on my channel and its not going to be nice.. Sorry Alpha Theta.. this is not a good start!!

@inelli I absolutely have no intentions of advertising, my extremely small, personal channel on your channel..
It is just a comment and opinion so people could have options …. isn’t that what Comments and CZcams are for?

@@NickSpinelli We both got different results thats all... I never said you where wrong just point out my results for people to take into consideration .. I played the Wave-Eight Speaker at MAX Gain in a 4 Hour pool party with the DJ Controller volume set to middle (12 O'clock position) and to be precise battery was dead with in 2 1/2 hours... (I said 2 before).... and yes it was fully charged.
