【Introduction】The Ingenious One is a Jianghu drama directed by You Dazhi (The Vigilantes in Masks), starring Chen Xiao (A Dream of Splendor), Mao Xiaotong (Nothing But Thirty), Tang Xiaotian (Put Your Head on My Shoulder), Xu Lingyue (Serenade of Peaceful Joy), and Liu Guanlin (I Am a Superstar), with special appearances by Qin Lan (Story of Yanxi Palace), Wang Jinsong (Nirvana in Fire), Hui Yinghong (The Bold, the Corrupt, and the Beautiful), and Huang Haibing (Love and Redemption). The drama is adapted from Fang Baiyu's novel "A Thousand Doors," which focuses on the story of Yun Xiang, a young man who enters the Jianghu with a mission from his family and accidentally befriends several friends, including Shu Yanan, a heroine with a strong valor, Su Mingyu, and Jin Biao, a nimble swordsman. Yun Xiang (played by Chen Xiao), a disciple of Yuntai, enters the jungle after 10 years of practice.

I love the elegance and tranquillity that the characters radiate also in the sense that they are surrounded. The beautiful Tang-Hanfu? costumes are always a feast for the eyes.

Makes me so want the DVD of the full movie!!! ... Obviously, she is an incredible master of ALL martial arts, and clearly there is a romance brewing. Totally unrealistic, but so incredibly romantic. A wonderful respite from what we see in the news of the real world today!

Other great Chinese dramas include Pearl Eclipse, Story of Yanxi Palace, and Legend of FuYao. If you want some great entertainment, you can't go wrong with these Chinese dramas. They are great fun. The costumes, the sets, everything is high quality.

All the Martial Arts movies are based on the same theme of the predators and perpetrators trying to exploit and take advantage of what they perceive as the weak only to realise to their chagrin that they were mistaken because their victims are Flung Flew Masters who have miraculous ability which allows them to run over trees and water at high speed. They can also jump incredible heights and land safely on the ground they also possess amazing fighting skills.

I miss the Jet Li movies & those of the era of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." This movie looks like it was filmed in slow motion or is just very stylised & not physically convincing ..
Don't you think that Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is one of the main reasons behind all the money going into these "not physically convincing" movies? All those awards made the Chinese film industry think "hey - this is what the people want!" imo.
@@rayflaherty3441 I understand your point but it doesn't fit my experience.. Many Chinese said to me that they didn't like Crouching Tiger because they felt it was designed for Western audiences. From my point of view though the early HK movies and the Jet Li movies brought more dynamic and physical performances into the mainstream.
There were certainly magical or mystical aspects of Crouching Tiger but it was overall beautifully designed and the fight scenes showed prowess, exertion and dynamic athleticism..
These later movies are as choreographed as a Kabuki play but are too stylised and unrealistic to be compelling .. for my tastes anyway.
Anyhow, I don't think Crouching Tiger set a precedent and inspired overly stylised sequences that look like they were performed in slow motion and look uninspiring. .. my 2 cents worth . .
