  • EVERYDAY SUNSHINE is a documentary about the band Fishbone, musical pioneers who have been rocking on the margins of pop culture for the past 25 years. From the streets of South-Central Los Angeles and the competitive Hollywood music scene of the 1980's, the band rose to prominence, only to fall apart when on the verge of "making it."
    Laurence Fishburne narrates EVERYDAY SUNSHINE, an entertaining cinematic journey into the personal lives of this unique Black rock band, an untold story of fiercely individual artists in their quest to reclaim their musical legacy while debunking the myths of young Black men from urban America. Highlighting the parallel journeys of a band and their city, EVERYDAY SUNSHINE explores the personal and cultural forces that gave rise to California's legendary Black punk sons that continue to defy categories and expectations.
    At the heart of the film's story is lead singer Angelo Moore and bassist Norwood Fisher who show how they keep the band rolling, out of pride, desperation and love for their art. To overcome money woes, family strife, and the strain of being aging Punk rockers on the road, Norwood and Angelo are challenged to re-invent themselves in the face of dysfunction and ghosts from a painful past.

    ONE OF THE MOST FKN CRIMINALLY UNDERFKNRATED BANDS OF ALL TIME. Damn near cried when I saw the autograph signing scene.

    Fishbone should've been as big as No Doubt after dropping that landmark 'Truth and Soul' album almost 25 years ago, but at the same time I'm glad they stuck to what made them so original and VERY influential even to this day. To Norwood and Angelo (if they wind up reading this), thanks for soldiering on when most bands would've wrapped it up after all the stuff you guys went through. To those in the know like myself, you guys clearly made it when you finally went international on tour.

    this trailer gives me goosebumps!!
    Fishbone is connected to the earth, to the roots, which enables them to fly into space without an astronaut's certificate! thats why they are so deep!

    Thank you so much for making this documentary!! It's wonderful! I love these guys! As a lil black gal, in the 80s, into that other-over-there stuff, it was just a beautiful thing to see these guys, also into that other-over-there stuff, doin' their other-over-there thing. Fishbone will always have a special place in my heart.

    The ironic thing about it is that they knew the music was culturally African. The white people that copied and emulated them knew it as well.We have to wake up on a number of issues but most of all on our TRUE HISTORY AND CULTURE! On a side note: A Band Called Death is another good documentary that parallel the same issues. Believe me it's worth checking out.The message that resonated in my mind about that film and this one is that don't let anyone take your culture and use it for their benefit.

    I've been going to their shows since the 80's. A huge inspiration in my life. They are a living reminder to never give up on yourself or your dreams. They may live a hand to mouth existence but it's better than punching a clock at a job you hate.

    this was a GREAT documentary! could've done with a lot less commentary from the no doubt crew and flea (fishbone was/is so much better than either of those bands could ever even hope to be). made me mad to see that they became recognized and acclaimed (gwen stefani, really?) when fishbone didn't. annoying commentary notwithstanding, i loved this doc. long live FISHBONE!

    I watched this documentary and indeed Fishbone should have been everything and more but on one hand Angelo, a large part of what made them who they where also was a large part of what brought them down. I understand a no compromise attitude but it seems to me Angelo wanted everything his way or no way at all. You can't sustain a band like that. When you see the documentary you see band members that wanted to KILL Angelo for being an Egomaniac that seemed to think he WAS the band.

  • @Vidguy78
    @Vidguy78 Před 10 lety +4

    Although I have not seen the film yet I definitely can say that I intend to. I have to disagree with Angelo in part on one thing. IT'S ALL BLACK! The creation of this genre has nothing to do white people. Just because whites elect to occupy rock that doesn't mean it's theirs. Anyone has the right to play anything they want just don't claim it as your culture product. This confusion is partly our fault as black people for not supporting groups like Fishbone, Bad Brains, Living Colour, and Jimi.
