    This fixed my issue! I didn't have the tools to do it myself but I told the mechanic what was wrong and they fixed it. Funny enough, they argued with me and said that isn't the issue...then I picked up the car and the receptionist told me that was indeed the issue. Thank you, sir.

I opened up that area at the IP fuse block and what ya know!! Same exact problem you had. I fixed it in about 25 minutes. What an easy fix when you know where to look. Thanks to your video! Just another THANK YOU for this video! Defroster wasn't working on my 08 Impala and my mechanic didn't even look for the problem (or do a quick Google like I did to find this). Told me I would have to replace the whole windshield. 🙄 But now I've fixed it for the cost of a sodering kit and wire that I already had laying around, just hadn't had a reason to use yet. Fixed it right up and now my defroster works perfectly! Thank you!!

    Awesome THANKS! Was trouble shooting mine earlier today. Knew I'd have to get the wiring diagram to trace the issue, so I put everything away and raked leaves instead. Came in tired after raking, and did a quick search and found your video. Got totally motivated and got my work clothes back on and went out. Exact same issue as shown in your video. Cut and jumpered the wire and PRESTO - now I have the 12 vdc at the rear window. Thanks, much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for the troubleshooting help. I clicked the relay, inspected the harness which black wire looked a little green, small burn mark similar to yours, but oddly had 12v at the window. Thought I had just a broken filament so started continuity testing there which found nothing. Went back and found my 12v was now gone. Decided to go back and jumper the harness to see if that was it, found the connector pretty charred. Soldered up the jumper, retested, got my 12v back and then wires started getting warm! Woohoo! Less than an hour. Thanks for your help!

    2008 Impala has same problem. Replaced blower motor in same area. Then the rear defrost went out. Checked connector and it had the same problem. I did the same repair. I used a fusable link instead of a wire. Just incase there is other issues the fusable blade link will keep everything cool. Thanks for your help and posting the video. You saved me time. Thats something more valuable than gold.

      What was the amp rating on your fusible link?

    • @jimbojonesmgr
      @jimbojonesmgr Před 5 měsíci +1

      10 Amp blade type (red color fuse) AC was blowing 10 AMP fuses in the summer due to corroded ground. Under the hood in the fuse box. May have been what caused the rear defrost to go out. Connector to the rear defrost not the best quality IMO. Lots of salt on the road here in the winter. You track it into the car. Then the salt water evaporates. The link to the defrost is only inches away from wet salty feet. The salt gets airborne and collects on everything. I was blowing back passenger side tail light and front driver headlight. Cleaned the whole car with high pressure soap. Sealed up all electrical connections I could find with paint on tape. Yellow can at Walmart in car electrical section. Covered the battery posts with it as well. I have had zero problems this winter. Rear defrost works. No blown lights. No blown fuses. AC runs perfect. FYI in the winter it is smart to run the AC for about 5 minutes every month. Circulates the freon and keeps the seals from dry rotting. Hope this help in keeping your Impala running. Great car. I have 240K on mine and it still pulls strong. Removed the passenger seat. Used it to replace the driver seat that was electric. Had to switch the set belt harnest. Now I use it as a hauling vehicle for just about everything. Once the passenger seat is out you have tons of room. I can put 8 foot 2 X 4 in the car with no problem. Also put a small rack on top of the car. Cut some OSB board for the trunk. Hauling just about everything with it now.@@gphilipc2031

    • @jimbojonesmgr
      @jimbojonesmgr Před měsícem +1

      @@gphilipc2031 Yes - 10 amp worked for me. You can bump up the amps if it blows the fusable link. Just use a touchless laser thermometer to get the temp of the wires. Some wires may melt if you have a dead short somewhere else. Wires stayed cool to the touch. No hot spots along what I could see. Laser thermometer can read back in the tight spots. No issues. Its been about a year now. Everything works great! Thanks again.

    great explanation , i have a similar problem but the rear defroster button is causing intermittent heat loss thru vents. My best guess before i go more indepth is that its some short thats also causing a the main blend door actuator to fail. Have any better guess on what it could be. As this car had a water problem on the rear passenger side next to the blower motor a while back there for its highly possible its some messed up electrical thing due to water. It occurs when i push the rear defrost button also drains battery to.

    I found this to be incredibly helpful. Thank you in advance. This did fix my defroster issue, however, my power locks stopped working. I checked the fuse in the panel, not popped. Any thoughts?

    Thanks for the video ! It was spot on ! Can you give me any idea why my trunk won't open with the remote? Everything else works,remote start,power lock and unlock and alarm. Also where do you get wireless diagrams of systems in the car ? Mine is a 2014 Limited LT. Thanks again for the video,I'm a subscriber!

    Nice job, thanks! Same on my 2014, Obviously the connector is made for the 18-20 gauge that all the other wire is, but the defrost wire is at least 12 gauge. Who @ Chevy thought that would work? Plus as you point out there is a relay but apparently the circuit has no fuse, so when it starts to short and burn it just keeps going till the wire is destroyed!!!
