Maybe I'm missing something, but how is that noteworthy for dangerous? Bunch of nice straight-stemmed spruce blowdowns, seems easy enough, maybe ducking root-balls. Now if those were big, old, deciduous blowdowns, that could raise your pulse-rate. Yes, chainsaws are dangerous- just be sure to grab the hind-part.
Windfall is always dangerous, these small trees can hide tension and as you cut it it hits back up and can throw your saw back at you or 30 feet away, or it could come back and hit you and break bones.

Picea Abies i'd say or some other spruce.
It's white spruce
