The entirety of Saurfang vs. Sylvanas was meant to echo the Wrathgate encounter. There's some moments that are shot-for-shot the same or similar. It was very intentional.

The Chief The Forsaken used to be a part of the Scourge but managed to get freed from the Lich Kings grasp during the events of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. Together with the Horde they aimed to destroy the Lich King and the Scourge. the band of Forsaken you saw in this video was a rouge group who worked together with a dread lord. In fact they went and took over the capital of Undercity which forced the other Horde races and the actual Forsaken to strike back and take them out.

I love how surprised Arthas was by the first explosion so that he even forgot to switch on that scary echo in his voice.
Even more when he realizes about Sylvanas, even without any facial expression you can see how surprised and angry he was.

The guy leading the charge here is Bolvar Fordragon who we presumed dead untill the final patch where we enter the Lich Kings Citadel and find out he is alive. Tirion is the guy leading the charge against the Lich King after the events you saw here.

I remember seeing this cinematic for the first time when wrath first came out. I was so shocked they added a cinematic to questing. Phasing was also new in wrath.
Remake this with higher poly models, Blizz. Bolvar deserves this much.

well we just got a warcraft movie covering the first war if they want to keep in chronological they would need at least 1 more movie till they finally get to his character in the 3rd war where he joins the scourge and finds frostmourne

Muhammad Akbar Bagus Wicaksono yeah Arthas' voice is so iconic, I don't know who would be able to play him. I wouldn't mind a proper CGI-film with the same graphics as the WoW cinematics have.

+DynamicBlu3 really think that whenever blizzard banks on nostalgia it goes all wrong. We had cata trying to bank on vanilla and now we have wod trying to bank on tbc. Their best work is when they take us somewhere new imo. I loved mop for that reason, it really felt fresh.

WOTLK was truly a special expansion. I find myself going back to Borean tundra, Stormpeaks, Grizzly Hills often just to chill. Man I miss 2010 :(
The epic death Knight starting zone, ulduar, arthas, frost dwarves. This expansion was EPIC.
I am hoping legion brings back that epicness with demon hunters and Illidan

I normally hate PvP but I must admit that this is true, there was no time I ever got such a rush as I did running in on my DK, wintergrasp sieges, that other isle with the catapults and gates, shooting from gunships and skydiving down. It brought a whole new element to PvP.

I used to play Frost though, I mixed the tankiness of Frost with the Crit abilities and Blood's 2h weapon stuff and Rune tap, being able to burst 30k and heal like 20% of my hp every 30s was great. = D

Honestly, I'd love for Blizzard to make a full CGI movie based on WOTLK. I know it's unlikely (If they do another movie I imagine it'd be based on Arthas becoming the Lich King) but the '25 heroes' who defeat the Lich King in the end could be loosely based on the first players to defeat him in-game.

Of all the old in-game cinematics, I really really really wish Blizz will release an updated graphics version of this cinematic. 0:53 is still one of my favorite rallying moments of all time. Saurfang is such an essential character to WoW, and much of his pain has to do with losing his son at this moment. This, and when Saurfang mourns his son during the ICC raid are pivotal moments. Gets me every time and I'm not even a big fan of orcs in general.

I remember doing this questline in wrath and having no idea this was waiting for me at the end. I was blown away, an actual cutscene in WoW?! This, and the battle of undercity were two of my most memorable WoW experiences. It's a shame battle for undercity is no longer available.
I like how Arthas has to make a Constitution check and he barely makes it...
Well, if they followed lore paladins (and death knights) would be completely immune to this. Being that they are both immune to disease and toxins. This is why they were the ones to walk the Plaguelands helping those they could.
Wrong, Robert. Yes, to normal plague Death Knights and Paladins are immune, but this is an especially deadly magical plague that Putress developed with the assistance of Varimathras to kill not only Scourge but living as well. So it basically hit through immunities.
He would have lost his paladin abilities for going evil. No more Divine Health. :l

You know.. You can really see the improvements of the cinematics as the game expands.
Pre-Cataclysm everything was done in such a way of a Machinima done by a bunch of people, now you see in-game cutscenes of it's own fine animations.. Great improvements I say.
Best cinematic from the best expansion. I'm still remembering what it felt watching this, back in the days 2008. That's something the new addons after Cataclysm couldn't provide.

Your argument is invalid. Every faction has traitors. What they do with those traitors is the important thing; The alliance let Arthas live even after the culling of stratholme (the first of his traitorous acts), however we caught both Puttress and Varimathras and killed them ASAP. The Alliance let Arthas live for far too long, just because he was a prince.

Come on, he's the *only* Forsaken to make himself known in ingame lore (aside from Sylvanas). We get *tons* of Orcs, Humans, Night Elves, Blood Elves, Dwarves, and Tauren involved in the story line (aside from leaders)... the only times I see other races, is when they're a part of the Earthen Ring or under another neutral faction consisting of multiple races (doesn't count imo)
Blizz needs to start showing love for *all* the races, and not just their favorites -.-

She wasn't exactly "made known"... as in, about the only ones that know about her were the humans (a very low number of them) and the Forsaken. She wasn't even brought to the attention of the other members of the Horde, let alone the Alliance.
Don't get me wrong, I loved her back story and I wish Blizz would have made her a recurring character, possibly even a major lore character... alas, we hardly even hear about her after your Forsaken leaves Tirisfal...
Would be pretty epic if Blizz decided to make her into a Shadow Ascendant (and give Shadow Ascendants a proper model...) for WoD or a future x-pack and be the commander of a segment of the Forsaken in a new land.

They made Arthas go back to Icecrown citadel,killed countless alliance and horde soldiers and got incinerated by dragons

Keep in mind Putress and his lackeys were traitors to the Forsaken, acting without Sylvanas' orders. Putress and his rebellious partner, Varimathras, who was Sylvanas' former second in command, are both killed soon after this for their treason. Sylvanas and true Forsaken loyal to her and the Horde did not want this to happen.
Ultimaton100 The only reason she didn't want this to happen is because SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE EXPOSED. Sylvanas is lining up to become The Lich Queen. She was the one setting all this up to begin with, Putress just jumped the gun and drew attention to it all and she used him as a scapegoat. Sylvanas has no loyalty to the Horde, and as long as the Horde continues to shelter her, they are responsible for whatever horrors she unleashes on everyone.
Kayriel Wrong, very very wrong. You Alliance fans sure love to compare Sylvanas to the Lich King without having any facts at all to support such insanity. The Lich King enslaved masses of undead. Sylvanas gives them a choice to serve or not. The Lich King sought to destroy all life. Sylvanas is only exterminating threats to her people. Sylvanas did order the creation of the New Plague, intended as a weapon against the Scourge and the living enemies of the Forsaken such as the Scarlets and the Alliance. Sylvanas is an anti-hero, not a villain. She does questionable things for a good cause. The Alliance on the other hand started the war and waged it for no other reason than racism, and even the Draenei and Alliance Pandaren share blame for the atrocities of their allies.

Watching this still gives me shivers. My mates had already leveled ahead of me and saw this cutscene a few days before me, and that weekend we were at a LAN. I had no idea they had added ingame cinematics, and they were all urging me to finish the questline in dragon blight, not telling me why other than that it had an awesome reward, just to see my reaction when the cutscene played. And my mind was blown.

Keith O'Leary At the moment, I'm partially convinced that due to the similarities between Vrykul and norse/nordic languages, if we could get someone who speaks said languages to transcribe what they hear and then compare it to what we know we might get an answer.
Personally, though, I'd think he'd be shouting something along the lines of "for the Death God" or something.
Even in 2017, that "RISE UP, SONS OF THE HORDE!" at 0:54 still stabs me right in the feels.
God this makes me miss Wrath so much. I love what they are doing with WoW currently, but Wrath just had this melancholy tone and atmosphere. It's hard to describe, but everything from the Northrend zones, to its story, characters and narratives had a certain dark beauty to them.
I love this cinematic much more now, since i read in blizzcon 2019 all the characters on the video are real players ^^
