Gosh I’m just recovered from septic shock & the treatment I received was very different form this ! I was treated immediately! My body was shutting down & the Drs in resuscitation acted quickly & constantly reassessing me. I was scared I thought I wa going to die ! I can’t thank the doctors & nurses & ambulance crew in Glasgow for their care 🙏🏼
I was diagnosed with sepsis two years ago and I was respiratory for three weeks I was sent to a rehab and care center I had a trake and feeding tube I had loss my mobility could not walk or move my body on my own I almost did not make it but it was by God Grace I’m still hear praise and glory to His Holy Name

All too familiar story. I have had sepsis 5 times and severe sepsis 2 times.....7 tines in totalI with renal failure, pneumonia and necrosis of the brain. I was treated disgustingly. Everything you’re saying is unbelievably familiar. I’m so happy you survived. I was lucky to survive but 7yrs on and I’m still suffering. I also lost my job and my life. It’s very hard to explain but I was on the edge of passing....I was so close. I can’t work but I’ve managed to cover my mortgage with no help. I would like to say that I owe someone my life but I don’t - it was me and they said that. They were shocked at how my body was fighting it. They’ve denied so many things that happened or didn’t happen. They messed up and if they keep doing that it will cost someone their life. Once I was able to go out and about ppl asked where I’d been and when I told them it seemed that nearly every person knew someone who had passed due to sepsis....in the hospital I was in, thats when I realised how lucky I was. There’s definitely someone watching over me.🥺
I was just released from the hospital from sepsis which was caused by a kidney infection. I’m also a survivor. Any longer I waited though to go to emergency room I would have died. I’m thankful I’m still here
@@Shethat_one I got a kidney stone that got stuck in the ureter. It was really large and unfortunately caused the infection. It’s extremely scary and unfortunately it can happen to anyone
always trust your own instincts and never that of a doctor or a nurse, i have never had sepsis thank god, but i do suffer with skin infections due to eczema in the scrotal area of my body, it can be very painful, i was once given a steroid injection to help an infection i once had, at first i was concerned about having it, but had it anyway, i wish i had trusted my own instincts as after the injection i could no longer have children, this in turn caused a domino effect , failed relationship, lost my home and all because of not being able to have children due to an injection in my scrotum, never trust a doctor ever
Yes they become irate and offended when we try to speak up or advocate for our health and life. I’m so grateful to have survived sepsis, and it’s all thanks to Jesus! The Drs did not help, I was only getting worse. But God has other plans for us!

He was so lucky in that his wife was being his champion and kept on about getting him proper care. Considering how deadly Sepsis is and how quickly it can accelerate into a life or death situation I would think that all hospital medical personnel would be sharp about recognizing it and getting that patient proper help. Years ago I was walking my dog before sunup one morning to escape the Summer heat when I tripped on a broken piece of sidewalk and fell on my hands and knees. The only sign of the accident were some tiny scrapes on the heel of my hands. As the day progressed the pain got worse so I went to the Instacare at the hospital where they took x-rays, examined me, found nothing and sent me home with instructions to get some rest. Two days later I went back because the pain in my leg was getting worse. Again they took x-rays, examined me, gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and sent me home. The next day, Saturday, I returned again. At this point my pain level is a solid 10. Instacare sent me to the ER where they examined me, gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and sent me home. The next day I had developed a fever of 101 and returned again to the ER. In the exam room the nurses asked if I'd like a cold towel put on my leg to relieve the pain. I said that sounded great. They soaked a towel in ice water and lay it over my leg. A few minutes later they remove it and both nurses were surprised at how hot the towel had gotten. I was finally admitted. By then it was 6pm. the time I normally take medicine for a neurological condition and if I don't take it I'm up on my feet all night. Over the next 5 days at the hospital I asked many times, and was promised many times, that my much needed medicine, Mirapex, was requested and it shouldn't be long. I never got that medicine and for 5 days I didn't sleep other than a 20 minute nap whenever they gave me morphine for the pain, which didn't work as well as the Extra Strength Motrin, and it was almost always given to me late. The first full day at the hospital their computer broke down. I was transferred to and from my room in the most uncomfortable wheelchair I had ever experienced. It seemed designed to dig into the part of my leg that hurt the most. I asked if they had something else, one of the different wheel chairs I'd seen downstairs when I was waiting to be brought to an exam room. I lost 17 lbs in 5 days, my leg shriveled up looking like an overcooked hot dog, it turned black the first time I got out of bed. I peed blood, lay in a pool of my own sweat overnight until it evaporated on its own. Most of the nursing staff tried to get me my medicine but for some reason they never could. I talked to the head nurse at the station and I talked to her boss about not getting the Mirapex. Nothing ever came and I never got an explanation why. I was in the worst pain of my life for almost 2 months before it started to subside little by little. That was 4 years ago and since then I've been getting weaker and weaker until I can't walk from one room to the other without getting out of breath, walking at a snail's pace and in pain with every step. I now have a chronic wound on my leg, one which I've noticed greatly improved when I was on antibiotics for other reasons like a sinus infection. I've pointed this out to several doctors none of whom will prescribe an antibiotic for longer than 14 days. So I'm in the cycle of a swolllen leg that is 30" in circumference and a large wound, going on antibiotics, the swelling going down to nearly 19" and the wound almost completely healed. However within a few weeks after the course of antibiotics is concluded I'm right back where I started except now the wound is a little bigger. Doctors won't listen to me or if they do they just shrug their shoulders and look confused. Medicine in the US has gotten so bad.
I was lucky enough to survive sepsis, had a staph infection in my arm that was the cause, never have i felt so horrible, the worst pain by far of my life, I've had broken bones, burns, many painful injuries and never have i had pain like that, had to have 2 surgeries on my arm and they almost had to remove it. Spent a month in the hospital and I'm just very thankful that as bad as it was it could have been worse.
I developed sespis due to a C-section, follow up op and subsequent abscesses in my abdomen. I had been in isolation for a week with my baby as I had COVID-19. When I developed rigors I was told, "you now have a daughter, you need to be strong for her and stop all this panic attack business". I was sent home later that day. I was back in hospital less than 24 hours later with sepsis. I was in the HDU for two weeks following, without my daughter (she was at home with my husband). I was told that I would need to have further surgery to wash out my abdomen and would need to go into the ICU but thankfully ended up having an ultrasound-guided drain and was given merepenem which was the consultants' "final" choice of antibiotic (all the others they had tried failed to work). I slowly started to improve. I had IV antibiotics for 5 weeks at home following my discharge from hospital. Having sespis after being in isolation for so long and having just had a baby was extremely traumatic. Interestingly, I had no idea that I actually had sepsis for the first week I was in the HDU (I didn't really know much about it).
My brother is currently fighting sepsis in multiple organ failure after having initially gone to hospital for kidney stones 93 days ago. He’s been in critical intensive care surgical wing can’t breathe without ventilator, dialysis, NG tube, tracheotomy…..his heart and lungs had always been healthy and if he survives this he will be stuck on various machines for life. The hospital he is in in Philadelphia is supposed to be top of the line. Not. Not at all. They have not only let my brother get worse with their wait and see approach, the cardiologist actually had the audacity to be rude, unprofessional and completely inappropriate to my 76 year old Mother who is beside herself watching her first born baby deteriorating every minute. As soon as there’s some progress, over the night shift something happens, goes wrong, I think they don’t properly care at night and then any progress made disappears and he is worse than before. Please pray that my brother survives this horrible disease that took our grandmother’s life also. Thank you for praying for John. 🙏🏻

I've survived sepsis twice. My Dad died from it on 3rd. January, 2020. It's so common and it can take a life so very quickly. There certainly needs to be more awareness about it. Honestly, I think kids in their final year or two of school (between 16-18) should have first aid followed advanced first aid inserted into their timetable, no matter what subjects they're taking. An emphasis should be put on conditions such as sepsis, how to use a defibrillator, etc. I'm sure if people were educated at a younger age about it as a matter of course then lives would be saved xx

I don’t know why sometimes hospital staff become so pig headed & don’t listen to the patient or their loved ones. No one knows the patient as well as the patient themselves . So what if they have to do an extra test. If we can save 1 life for an extra 100 tests , it is worth it. My dad was in ICU for 1 month drs said to pull the plug but I was his advocate & I didn’t give up on him. He lived for another 11 Yrs after that. Family has to advocate for the patient.
Two days ago they told us that they didn’t think they could ever get my brother out of the I C U. My Mother stood in defiance and said‘so you are trying to tell me my son is going to die?” They shook heads yes and my Mother walked out while saying‘wait till we prove you wrong. We will never give up so fix everything you broke!’ Next morning he is wide awake, more alert than he’s been in months, was scratching his hair and beard, he can’t talk because of tracheotomy but he can mouth words and he kept asking why am I still here, why can’t I go home? I have to urinate so why can’t I get up and use the toilet?’ All kinds of awesome signs and then night shift his BPV drops again and today he’s awake but out of it….. I’m going to figure out what the problem is from 7pm to 7am at that place I promise you. I don’t care if he needs to go to dialysis, needs breathing machine, whatever it is we will get through it and he will heal. He has been septic so many times in three months, pneumonia, UTI, tracheotomy was infected….sounds to me like they might be missing something…….I appreciate everyone praying for strength and healing and wisdom and compassion knowledge for the hospital staff because some are horrible people who should not be doctors!

I’m not going to sugarcoat shit- it’s unlike anything you think it would be. It’s gut wrenching in ways I never knew possible. John, my brother passed October 6th. It’s been an absolute nightmare and after numerous requests for his records, after four months they sent first batch of 14558 pages that are only viewable for another 18 days. I can’t get the file to load, it keeps saying error loading (intentionally in my opinion) I don’t know how to make the file reduce into several smaller manageable sizes and it would cost almost 2000. to have them printed which I might have to go broke to ensure I can get these records. I’m technochallenged and no longer have my home office. We sold our home and now are my moms caretaker. It’s been more than a whirlwind it’s been a cyclone and I can’t find equilibrium. Out of my element, my comfort zone, 1500 miles north of where we made our own home…..sleeping in my dead brothers room still living out of a suitcase because moms not ready to go through John’s things. And her Alzheimer’s has progressed drastically since he died. So the crap that it gets better with time, it’s just that- bunch of bulldoodie 💩 I’m praying for you and your girlfriends family and loved ones to find strength in each other and don’t judge yourselves on how grief presents itself to you. It comes out when you are watching a comedy movie and you start balling, going to the food store and buying what he likes and then when you are at check out you break down realizing that you are buying food for someone who is no longer in our earthly realm. My Mom forgets a lot that he is dead and it’s gut wrenching to have to relive his death several times a week and I can’t imagine how she feels except she’s given up and feels like she has lost her reason to be happy and will never be happy again. It’s so hard. I’m sorry man. I am only able to somewhat function because I tell my self and know in my heart that John would not want any one to suffer due to him. He was so much fun and would expect us to have fun for him. I’m not there yet but I’m trying to just exist each day and accomplish the necessities. And sometimes I don’t and spend a day or three in my pajamas. I didn’t think that I, as his closest in age sister but our youngest sister was closest because he raised us but mostly her like our donor father didn’t raise any of us so she’s struggling but me- I’m supposed to be te strong one, the one who handles everything without fear, well I am just trying to get to where I think he would want but I don’t have any desire or energy to really care or even try hard. I’m hoping that lessens because it’s no way to live and he would never be like that if it was me. He would have people laughing telling stories and just being the awesome charming brilliant brother he was. The hospital had me CANCELED ON YELP because I gave the review detailing what they did to him and they shut me down. Hhhmmmm, kind of strange that my experience has caused a major hospital system with universities and global reach worrying about my truth and their actions. That makes me feel like I will find the strength to figure out how this happened because it never should have happened. You don’t go for kidney stones and then ventilator within days, sepsis, four times he had it and then tracheotomy kept falling out so he started having heart attacks. Multiple organ failure five times and he was still fighting still trying to communicate with us by mouthing words and giving thumbs up or peace sign or when he knew they were killing him instead or healing him he bit this bitch nurse hand real hard and I was so proud of him because he kept somehow surviving and living. It was when we were having him transferred to a different hospital that the one he was at would not release him unless he had an emergency exploratory abdominal surgery. 40 minutes after they took him in for this exploration of his swollen belly (caused by the bowel obstruction surgery that they effed up and never ever addressed saying we don’t see anything on scans but he’s losing more blood than he has!! So they come out and say he has five minutes to live and he had whole abdominal cavity filled with blood and his whole bowel was dead. Sad goodbye crying and all nurses and doctors are hugging as mom and sister are leaving. They were going to call shortly with time of death. This was 6:30pm when they left. Hospital never called. Next morning my mom wants to know what time her son died so call the murder factory hospital and we ask for his status--- they say oh he’s still plugging along status quo!!! ?? Ummm excuse me, what did you say? He did not die? No he didn’t die until about an hour after that morning call because that effin hospital and their incompetent negligent doctors kept giving him medication all night which kept him alive!!! IF THEY COULD DO THAT THEN WHY DIDNT THEY DO IT IMMEDIATELY AND HE WOULD STILL BE HERE!! How the things that happened to him occurred In the place they did is hard for people to believe except for the other four families who had loved ones go for something minor but within few weeks are being told there’s nothing they can do and their children died too!! This is not coincidence and it’s definitely negligence at the least. One nurse said after the second or third heart attack caused by his tracheotomy tube falling out and they didn’t realize until he flatlined then he aspirated into lungs because they laid his bed back in wrong direction so his head was below his heart so nurse was beside herself and said THIS NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED The hospital we were transferring him too even said that they had never had another doctor or hospital refuse to talk to them or return calls or follow through on our requests for consultation- they said it felt like they were trying to cover something up, hiding something they knew they were responsible for and would have been caught if we were able to transfer him. But the hospital that killed him refused to release him unless they were able to do that last surgery. They let him die - forced him to die in order to cover up and hide their negligence and lack of proper care, treatment standards and the lack of cleanliness and not following proper protocol. So I got cancelled for sharing some of what happened and even what I just told you isn’t everything that they screwed up. It’s hard to comprehend unless and until it happens to someone you love. He never needed ventilator but don’tcha know hospital gets almost triple the funds for patients that are on ventilators and they refused our many requests to explore internal issues since the bowel surgery because that’s when it started getting harder for him to fight- it’s amazing he lived 104 days of torture and torment and intentionally being mistreated they could not find a way to make him die until they said he was going to be dead in a few minutes but they effed that up too and then they let him die alone to cover up all their fuckups. It’s still unbelievable but hundred percent truth. Be strong💕🙏🏻

Wow. Is this the way the British medical system works? If a nurse has a valid license, there is absolutely NO excuse to not recognize a critically ill patient. Unfortunately as an ER dr in the states, I witnessed a nurse who sent a patient of mine to CAT scan without accompanying him even after she noted an orthostatic BP of 50 systolic. She never informed me in spite of the fact I had told her I thought he had a ruptured spleen. Incompetence is everywhere apparently.
I got sepsis Jan 1 2015. The nurses screwed up royally and several nurses got fired. I was not given antibiotics or fluids after 5 hours in ER. Sepsis needs to be treated with antibiotics within 6 hours.
@dianakate5808 I hope you have recovered well? I've had Urosepsis 5 times, and twice of those were severe sepsis with pyelonephritis. The last time, I wasn't seen for about 8 hours in ER. There was no excuse as the other 4 times would have been on my records.
I had a pre cancerous mass that ate a large necrotic hole on the entire back side of my left leg. I went to St. Luke’s and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital’s many times. They kicked me out every time. Bc it was one of their surgeons Dr. Leo Sullivan who ignored the sepsis and necrosis. My ex sister dragged me out of my apartment against my will to St. Luke’s where she still is an RN, off duty, she lied to her coworkers told them I was faking it. I was left for dead on the er psych floor. No Doctors, no nurses, running a 105 fever screaming in agony for 10 hours until my heart stopped! Rushed to surgery after I had a heart beat. I had septicemia for 2 1/2 months. She tried coming to my room after surgery to finish what she had started. She wanted me dead. My sister’s RH, LB and SR. Have gaslight my own mother not to ever talk to me again. Now I have TB, CHF and SCC. I knew I had sepsis and the medical staff at MVHS. Don’t care about patients lives.

This is the epitome of socialized medicine! A family member who lived in Denmark was told a mass in her abdomen was a hernia...less than a year later, she died of colon cancer. This is just one of many accounts of incompetence.
Almost 2 years ago, I went into toxic shock as a result of toxic mega colon and we went to an urgent care clinic ( we didn’t know what was wrong yet) and when the doctor at the clinic couldn’t get a blood pressure reading he insisted on calling for an ambulance and sending me to the emergency room ER IMMEDIATELY! Later,the doctor told my parents that I came within two hours of not surviving.
He should have rapidly received IV crystalloids or colloids. These are blood volume expanders to help ‘rescue’ people whose vital signs are crashing. Sepsis is common enough that First Responsers, ER and ICU staff need to have more awareness of its likelihood of occurrence.
I went to hospital 6 times while I was homeless weeing coughing and being sick with blood and was told I’m just trying to find somewhere to stay because something didn’t feel right ,I felt like I was fading away I forced my self to go out with friends threw up blood for an hour , got to the hospital I have had sepsis for 2 weeeks witch had caused pnemonia and nearly lost a lung .
I have had horrible utis as a kid and now being 27 it is getting worse. Urinary and kidney issues run horribly in my family, I have had passed a kidney stone but I have three other ones sitting on my kidneys waiting to pass. Maybe my kidney stones are giving me utis. I'm thinking I'm starting to have an antibiotic resistance and every antibiotic prescribed for my UTI isn't fighting my infection anymore and it's coming back. My biggest fear is developing sepsis, I need to be there for my two daughters and husband. This video is a wake up call I need to get help for my health
I think it was very fortunate that Linda Marks's wife was on the ball and demanded the proper service, as in most hospitals it is a lack of communication, patients and their loved ones alike mistake care workers and domestics for qualified nurses, very often they have minimal command of the English language, patients will ring their buzzer for assistants and a domestic will arrive, part of their duty is to make sure the patient is comfortable to provide bed-pans, fill water jugs , clean up spillages and many other menial tasks, during my recent stay in the hospital, when called not one nurse arrived at the bedside it was a domestic and not once did they admit to not being a nurse , patients were calling them and discussing medication very often if one is on prescribed A listed drugs they are not given unless requested, related health issues, one patient was seeking advice about his food being a diabetic,whenever they were asked to get nurse it never materialized, I also noticed no messages were ever conveyed to a member of the nursing staff . I know this particular problem has been around since the change of uniforms, mainly being blue in colour there is only a slight shade in the difference between trained members of staff and none trained. In my opinion, the uniforms are pretty smart but there has t o be a difference between nurses and other members of staff perhaps a different colour before the change some wore green gingham which was very acceptable, Just a simple change of things could save many lives
Is it not better to treat cases as if they are life-threatening and rather be wrong, than to treat them as if they are not and have a patient die? I do not understand why some professionals make that mistake. If their instincts are tainted because they believe that patients and their family members are just overreacting, then perhaps it's time for them to look for a different career.

I was just released from the hospital from sepsis which was caused by a kidney infection. I’m also a survivor. Any longer I waited though to go to emergency room I would have died. I’m thankful I’m still here

always trust your own instincts and never that of a doctor or a nurse, i have never had sepsis thank god, but i do suffer with skin infections due to eczema in the scrotal area of my body, it can be very painful, i was once given a steroid injection to help an infection i once had, at first i was concerned about having it, but had it anyway, i wish i had trusted my own instincts as after the injection i could no longer have children, this in turn caused a domino effect , failed relationship, lost my home and all because of not being able to have children due to an injection in my scrotum, never trust a doctor ever

Yes they become irate and offended when we try to speak up or advocate for our health and life. I’m so grateful to have survived sepsis, and it’s all thanks to Jesus! The Drs did not help, I was only getting worse. But God has other plans for us!
My mom passed away from sepsis 2 months ago, now my husband is critically ill with it as well. We are praying for a miracle.

He was so lucky in that his wife was being his champion and kept on about getting him proper care. Considering how deadly Sepsis is and how quickly it can accelerate into a life or death situation I would think that all hospital medical personnel would be sharp about recognizing it and getting that patient proper help.
Years ago I was walking my dog before sunup one morning to escape the Summer heat when I tripped on a broken piece of sidewalk and fell on my hands and knees. The only sign of the accident were some tiny scrapes on the heel of my hands. As the day progressed the pain got worse so I went to the Instacare at the hospital where they took x-rays, examined me, found nothing and sent me home with instructions to get some rest. Two days later I went back because the pain in my leg was getting worse. Again they took x-rays, examined me, gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and sent me home. The next day, Saturday, I returned again. At this point my pain level is a solid 10. Instacare sent me to the ER where they examined me, gave me a prescription for an antibiotic and sent me home. The next day I had developed a fever of 101 and returned again to the ER. In the exam room the nurses asked if I'd like a cold towel put on my leg to relieve the pain. I said that sounded great. They soaked a towel in ice water and lay it over my leg. A few minutes later they remove it and both nurses were surprised at how hot the towel had gotten. I was finally admitted. By then it was 6pm. the time I normally take medicine for a neurological condition and if I don't take it I'm up on my feet all night. Over the next 5 days at the hospital I asked many times, and was promised many times, that my much needed medicine, Mirapex, was requested and it shouldn't be long. I never got that medicine and for 5 days I didn't sleep other than a 20 minute nap whenever they gave me morphine for the pain, which didn't work as well as the Extra Strength Motrin, and it was almost always given to me late. The first full day at the hospital their computer broke down. I was transferred to and from my room in the most uncomfortable wheelchair I had ever experienced. It seemed designed to dig into the part of my leg that hurt the most. I asked if they had something else, one of the different wheel chairs I'd seen downstairs when I was waiting to be brought to an exam room.
I lost 17 lbs in 5 days, my leg shriveled up looking like an overcooked hot dog, it turned black the first time I got out of bed. I peed blood, lay in a pool of my own sweat overnight until it evaporated on its own. Most of the nursing staff tried to get me my medicine but for some reason they never could. I talked to the head nurse at the station and I talked to her boss about not getting the Mirapex. Nothing ever came and I never got an explanation why.
I was in the worst pain of my life for almost 2 months before it started to subside little by little. That was 4 years ago and since then I've been getting weaker and weaker until I can't walk from one room to the other without getting out of breath, walking at a snail's pace and in pain with every step. I now have a chronic wound on my leg, one which I've noticed greatly improved when I was on antibiotics for other reasons like a sinus infection. I've pointed this out to several doctors none of whom will prescribe an antibiotic for longer than 14 days. So I'm in the cycle of a swolllen leg that is 30" in circumference and a large wound, going on antibiotics, the swelling going down to nearly 19" and the wound almost completely healed. However within a few weeks after the course of antibiotics is concluded I'm right back where I started except now the wound is a little bigger. Doctors won't listen to me or if they do they just shrug their shoulders and look confused. Medicine in the US has gotten so bad.
I was lucky enough to survive sepsis, had a staph infection in my arm that was the cause, never have i felt so horrible, the worst pain by far of my life, I've had broken bones, burns, many painful injuries and never have i had pain like that, had to have 2 surgeries on my arm and they almost had to remove it. Spent a month in the hospital and I'm just very thankful that as bad as it was it could have been worse.
Exactly, you had a staph infection prior, and it spread an became septic. Sepsis always starts as something else.

I developed sespis due to a C-section, follow up op and subsequent abscesses in my abdomen. I had been in isolation for a week with my baby as I had COVID-19. When I developed rigors I was told, "you now have a daughter, you need to be strong for her and stop all this panic attack business". I was sent home later that day. I was back in hospital less than 24 hours later with sepsis. I was in the HDU for two weeks following, without my daughter (she was at home with my husband). I was told that I would need to have further surgery to wash out my abdomen and would need to go into the ICU but thankfully ended up having an ultrasound-guided drain and was given merepenem which was the consultants' "final" choice of antibiotic (all the others they had tried failed to work). I slowly started to improve. I had IV antibiotics for 5 weeks at home following my discharge from hospital. Having sespis after being in isolation for so long and having just had a baby was extremely traumatic. Interestingly, I had no idea that I actually had sepsis for the first week I was in the HDU (I didn't really know much about it).
My brother is currently fighting sepsis in multiple organ failure after having initially gone to hospital for kidney stones 93 days ago. He’s been in critical intensive care surgical wing can’t breathe without ventilator, dialysis, NG tube, tracheotomy…..his heart and lungs had always been healthy and if he survives this he will be stuck on various machines for life. The hospital he is in in Philadelphia is supposed to be top of the line. Not. Not at all. They have not only let my brother get worse with their wait and see approach, the cardiologist actually had the audacity to be rude, unprofessional and completely inappropriate to my 76 year old Mother who is beside herself watching her first born baby deteriorating every minute. As soon as there’s some progress, over the night shift something happens, goes wrong, I think they don’t properly care at night and then any progress made disappears and he is worse than before.
Please pray that my brother survives this horrible disease that took our grandmother’s life also.

I've survived sepsis twice. My Dad died from it on 3rd. January, 2020. It's so common and it can take a life so very quickly.
There certainly needs to be more awareness about it.
Honestly, I think kids in their final year or two of school (between 16-18) should have first aid followed advanced first aid inserted into their timetable, no matter what subjects they're taking. An emphasis should be put on conditions such as sepsis, how to use a defibrillator, etc.
I'm sure if people were educated at a younger age about it as a matter of course then lives would be saved xx

I don’t know why sometimes hospital staff become so pig headed & don’t listen to the patient or their loved ones. No one knows the patient as well as the patient themselves . So what if they have to do an extra test. If we can save 1 life for an extra 100 tests , it is worth it. My dad was in ICU for 1 month drs said to pull the plug but I was his advocate & I didn’t give up on him. He lived for another 11 Yrs after that. Family has to advocate for the patient.

Two days ago they told us that they didn’t think they could ever get my brother out of the I C U. My Mother stood in defiance and said‘so you are trying to tell me my son is going to die?” They shook heads yes and my Mother walked out while saying‘wait till we prove you wrong. We will never give up so fix everything you broke!’ Next morning he is wide awake, more alert than he’s been in months, was scratching his hair and beard, he can’t talk because of tracheotomy but he can mouth words and he kept asking why am I still here, why can’t I go home? I have to urinate so why can’t I get up and use the toilet?’ All kinds of awesome signs and then night shift his BPV drops again and today he’s awake but out of it…..
I’m going to figure out what the problem is from 7pm to 7am at that place I promise you. I don’t care if he needs to go to dialysis, needs breathing machine, whatever it is we will get through it and he will heal.
He has been septic so many times in three months, pneumonia, UTI, tracheotomy was infected….sounds to me like they might be missing something…….I appreciate everyone praying for strength and healing and wisdom and compassion knowledge for the hospital staff because some are horrible people who should not be doctors!

I’m not going to sugarcoat shit- it’s unlike anything you think it would be. It’s gut wrenching in ways I never knew possible. John, my brother passed October 6th. It’s been an absolute nightmare and after numerous requests for his records, after four months they sent first batch of 14558 pages that are only viewable for another 18 days. I can’t get the file to load, it keeps saying error loading (intentionally in my opinion) I don’t know how to make the file reduce into several smaller manageable sizes and it would cost almost 2000. to have them printed which I might have to go broke to ensure I can get these records.
I’m technochallenged and no longer have my home office. We sold our home and now are my moms caretaker. It’s been more than a whirlwind it’s been a cyclone and I can’t find equilibrium.
Out of my element, my comfort zone, 1500 miles north of where we made our own home…..sleeping in my dead brothers room still living out of a suitcase because moms not ready to go through John’s things. And her Alzheimer’s has progressed drastically since he died.
So the crap that it gets better with time, it’s just that- bunch of bulldoodie 💩 I’m praying for you and your girlfriends family and loved ones to find strength in each other and don’t judge yourselves on how grief presents itself to you. It comes out when you are watching a comedy movie and you start balling, going to the food store and buying what he likes and then when you are at check out you break down realizing that you are buying food for someone who is no longer in our earthly realm. My Mom forgets a lot that he is dead and it’s gut wrenching to have to relive his death several times a week and I can’t imagine how she feels except she’s given up and feels like she has lost her reason to be happy and will never be happy again. It’s so hard.
I’m sorry man. I am only able to somewhat function because I tell my self and know in my heart that John would not want any one to suffer due to him. He was so much fun and would expect us to have fun for him. I’m not there yet but I’m trying to just exist each day and accomplish the necessities. And sometimes I don’t and spend a day or three in my pajamas. I didn’t think that I, as his closest in age sister but our youngest sister was closest because he raised us but mostly her like our donor father didn’t raise any of us so she’s struggling but me- I’m supposed to be te strong one, the one who handles everything without fear, well I am just trying to get to where I think he would want but I don’t have any desire or energy to really care or even try hard. I’m hoping that lessens because it’s no way to live and he would never be like that if it was me. He would have people laughing telling stories and just being the awesome charming brilliant brother he was.
The hospital had me CANCELED ON YELP because I gave the review detailing what they did to him and they shut me down. Hhhmmmm, kind of strange that my experience has caused a major hospital system with universities and global reach worrying about my truth and their actions. That makes me feel like I will find the strength to figure out how this happened because it never should have happened. You don’t go for kidney stones and then ventilator within days, sepsis, four times he had it and then tracheotomy kept falling out so he started having heart attacks. Multiple organ failure five times and he was still fighting still trying to communicate with us by mouthing words and giving thumbs up or peace sign or when he knew they were killing him instead or healing him he bit this bitch nurse hand real hard and I was so proud of him because he kept somehow surviving and living. It was when we were having him transferred to a different hospital that the one he was at would not release him unless he had an emergency exploratory abdominal surgery. 40 minutes after they took him in for this exploration of his swollen belly (caused by the bowel obstruction surgery that they effed up and never ever addressed saying we don’t see anything on scans but he’s losing more blood than he has!! So they come out and say he has five minutes to live and he had whole abdominal cavity filled with blood and his whole bowel was dead. Sad goodbye crying and all nurses and doctors are hugging as mom and sister are leaving. They were going to call shortly with time of death. This was 6:30pm when they left. Hospital never called. Next morning my mom wants to know what time her son died so call the murder factory hospital and we ask for his status--- they say oh he’s still plugging along status quo!!! ?? Ummm excuse me, what did you say? He did not die? No he didn’t die until about an hour after that morning call because that effin hospital and their incompetent negligent doctors kept giving him medication all night which kept him alive!!! IF THEY COULD DO THAT THEN WHY DIDNT THEY DO IT IMMEDIATELY AND HE WOULD STILL BE HERE!! How the things that happened to him occurred In the place they did is hard for people to believe except for the other four families who had loved ones go for something minor but within few weeks are being told there’s nothing they can do and their children died too!! This is not coincidence and it’s definitely negligence at the least. One nurse said after the second or third heart attack caused by his tracheotomy tube falling out and they didn’t realize until he flatlined then he aspirated into lungs because they laid his bed back in wrong direction so his head was below his heart so nurse was beside herself and said THIS NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED
The hospital we were transferring him too even said that they had never had another doctor or hospital refuse to talk to them or return calls or follow through on our requests for consultation- they said it felt like they were trying to cover something up, hiding something they knew they were responsible for and would have been caught if we were able to transfer him. But the hospital that killed him refused to release him unless they were able to do that last surgery.
They let him die - forced him to die in order to cover up and hide their negligence and lack of proper care, treatment standards and the lack of cleanliness and not following proper protocol.
So I got cancelled for sharing some of what happened and even what I just told you isn’t everything that they screwed up. It’s hard to comprehend unless and until it happens to someone you love. He never needed ventilator but don’tcha know hospital gets almost triple the funds for patients that are on ventilators and they refused our many requests to explore internal issues since the bowel surgery because that’s when it started getting harder for him to fight- it’s amazing he lived 104 days of torture and torment and intentionally being mistreated they could not find a way to make him die until they said he was going to be dead in a few minutes but they effed that up too and then they let him die alone to cover up all their fuckups. It’s still unbelievable but hundred percent truth.

Wow. Is this the way the British medical system works? If a nurse has a valid license, there is absolutely NO excuse to not recognize a critically ill patient. Unfortunately as an ER dr in the states, I witnessed a nurse who sent a patient of mine to CAT scan without accompanying him even after she noted an orthostatic BP of 50 systolic. She never informed me in spite of the fact I had told her I thought he had a ruptured spleen. Incompetence is everywhere apparently.
Not necessarily in hospitals and the healthcare system, because that incompetence takes lives !

I got sepsis Jan 1 2015. The nurses screwed up royally and several nurses got fired. I was not given antibiotics or fluids after 5 hours in ER. Sepsis needs to be treated with antibiotics within 6 hours.
I have a similar story except I went 3 days. Idk how I didn't die

I've had Urosepsis 5 times, and twice of those were severe sepsis with pyelonephritis. The last time, I wasn't seen for about 8 hours in ER. There was no excuse as the other 4 times would have been on my records.
I had a pre cancerous mass that ate a large necrotic hole on the entire back side of my left leg. I went to St. Luke’s and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital’s many times. They kicked me out every time. Bc it was one of their surgeons Dr. Leo Sullivan who ignored the sepsis and necrosis. My ex sister dragged me out of my apartment against my will to St. Luke’s where she still is an RN, off duty, she lied to her coworkers told them I was faking it. I was left for dead on the er psych floor. No Doctors, no nurses, running a 105 fever screaming in agony for 10 hours until my heart stopped! Rushed to surgery after I had a heart beat. I had septicemia for 2 1/2 months. She tried coming to my room after surgery to finish what she had started. She wanted me dead. My sister’s RH, LB and SR. Have gaslight my own mother not to ever talk to me again. Now I have TB, CHF and SCC. I knew I had sepsis and the medical staff at MVHS. Don’t care about patients lives.
It clearly shows how rbch are negligent I haven't recently just been admitted with stock infection and scarring to my gal bladder doctors denied vital medications until I nearly passed out ended up with cellulitis infection now at home needing to go back in for IV treatment thanks Bournemouth!!!

This is the epitome of socialized medicine! A family member who lived in Denmark was told a mass in her abdomen was a hernia...less than a year later, she died of colon cancer. This is just one of many accounts of incompetence.

Almost 2 years ago, I went into toxic shock as a result of toxic mega colon and we went to an urgent care clinic ( we didn’t know what was wrong yet) and when the doctor at the clinic couldn’t get a blood pressure reading he insisted on calling for an ambulance and sending me to the emergency room ER IMMEDIATELY! Later,the doctor told my parents that I came within two hours of not surviving.

He should have rapidly received IV crystalloids or colloids. These are blood volume expanders to help ‘rescue’ people whose vital signs are crashing. Sepsis is common enough that First Responsers, ER and ICU staff need to have more awareness of its likelihood of occurrence.
I went to hospital 6 times while I was homeless weeing coughing and being sick with blood and was told I’m just trying to find somewhere to stay because something didn’t feel right ,I felt like I was fading away I forced my self to go out with friends threw up blood for an hour , got to the hospital I have had sepsis for 2 weeeks witch had caused pnemonia and nearly lost a lung .

I have had horrible utis as a kid and now being 27 it is getting worse. Urinary and kidney issues run horribly in my family, I have had passed a kidney stone but I have three other ones sitting on my kidneys waiting to pass. Maybe my kidney stones are giving me utis. I'm thinking I'm starting to have an antibiotic resistance and every antibiotic prescribed for my UTI isn't fighting my infection anymore and it's coming back. My biggest fear is developing sepsis, I need to be there for my two daughters and husband. This video is a wake up call I need to get help for my health
I think it was very fortunate that Linda Marks's wife was on the ball and demanded the proper service, as in most hospitals it is a lack of communication, patients and their loved ones alike mistake care workers and domestics for qualified nurses, very often they have minimal command of the English language, patients will ring their buzzer for assistants and a domestic will arrive, part of their duty is to make sure the patient is comfortable to provide bed-pans, fill water jugs , clean up spillages and many other menial tasks, during my recent stay in the hospital, when called not one nurse arrived at the bedside it was a domestic and not once did they admit to not being a nurse , patients were calling them and discussing medication very often if one is on prescribed A listed drugs they are not given unless requested, related health issues, one patient was seeking advice about his food being a diabetic,whenever they were asked to get nurse it never materialized, I also noticed no messages were ever conveyed to a member of the nursing staff . I know this particular problem has been around since the change of uniforms, mainly being blue in colour there is only a slight shade in the difference between trained members of staff and none trained. In my opinion, the uniforms are pretty smart but there has t
o be a difference between nurses and other members of staff perhaps a different colour before the change some wore green gingham which was very acceptable, Just a simple change of things could save many lives
So what advice to a patient who cannot access their GP.
Is it not better to treat cases as if they are life-threatening and rather be wrong, than to treat them as if they are not and have a patient die? I do not understand why some professionals make that mistake. If their instincts are tainted because they believe that patients and their family members are just overreacting, then perhaps it's time for them to look for a different career.
