  • Hello tube of YOU! I have conquered the self driving car! I made it happen with a $2 rubber band. I made my 2021 a self driving car, well, put it on autopilot like Tesla on the highway. Check out how I did it!!

    It works as long as you are on the straight. The water bottle thing doesn’t work properly with my car. I nicked your idea, combined two blousing straps and ran it over the lower right spoke of the steering wheel ( VW group EV car).

    I bought a velcro counter weight device for this . .

    Very scary if you had to make an extreme turn to get out of the way of something in the road. The strap might prevent you from making the turn! Why not wrap your strap multiple times around the steering wheel to create tension. Then you could even make a right turn with ease and no restrictions? You could also just leave it on permanently.
    I've even seen someone put a plastic water in the steering wheel to fool the system.
    BTW, don't do any of the above things I just mentioned.

    • @smitheys
      @smitheys  Před 2 lety +2

      The strap is just a green rubber band, you can still turn with it. If you turn it hard enough it’ll pop off, that’s why I choose one that had hooks. I like where your mind is at though.

    You could use a silicone 2# weight. And wrap around the stering wheel.

    Great Video Question, Is it true that with newer Toyotas if there are no road lines your car will still follow the vehicle in front of you. Thanks.

    • @IliveInAlmaty
      @IliveInAlmaty Před 9 měsíci

      Yes if marking is bad it shows like a trail behind the front car and follows it. But you need to pay attention if the car in front of you at this time wants to change lanes. Your car may try to do this too😆

    I used a small water water bottle, but if youre doing a lot of highway treat youself with a Comma 3 brother. 10x better check it out.

      @smitheys  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yeah, I’ve been using that rubber band and a Gatorade bottle because of the grooves, It kinda locks in. As for the comma… wow. I read one article and saw $1500 and stopped reading the article. Haha. It does seem cool but I barely have money for gas and my rubber band does everything I need. Thanks for bringing it up! Cool to learn about new things.

    I don't feel comfortable with rav4 as honda hrv.. I feel after while my car goes beyond line... is therw software update or something, or is it my phobia?

    • @smitheys
      @smitheys  Před rokem +1

      Yeah, Toyota and Honda definitely design their cars completely different but they’re usually similar in concept. Mine really didn’t go beyond the line but I’m constantly monitoring the dash and the car’s position in the street. Sometimes the lane keep disengages without warning, that’s usually what gets me. As for the update, that would be a Toyota question. Every year is different. Might be a phobia too! Ha. It is a weird experience, since it’s new and I’ve had to drive myself for years. I can’t imagine what the future holds (no steering wheel at all?)

    2:00 boot blouse strap or water bottle

    • @smitheys
      @smitheys  Před 4 měsíci

      Very true. I used a water bottle but it kept nudging out, then I got a Gatorade bottle. Those hold quite well because of the notches in the bottle design. For longer drives, I use the boot blouse because you can set it and forget it.
