And guess what? Unless you live in the woods you don't need SUV ride height. And if you can afford this thing, you don't live in the woods. It's almost like 97% of SUVs shouldn't exist.

But the ride is much smoother in SUV going over bumps. I was anti SUV for quite a while and always went with wagons but as a European living in Canada I was annoyed that USA killed the wagon market for North America. So, I bought my first SUV because I love the practicality of having a hatch back where you can just easily throw in stuff while shopping or going on trips. With that said, I no longer want a lower to the ground car as my daily driver. It's smooth, relaxing on long drives, quieter and absorbs the bumps with an ease. The only time I's get a car would be my Sunday driver.

With my A4, whenever I know I need to get off the line quickly, I'll pull the gear shift back once which will put it in sport mode. This disables the engine start/stop and also increases the idle speed from about 800 to 1000rpm. This makes a big difference when you need to dart across a couple lanes of traffic.

Gotta go with the PHEV version here - fixes the turbo lag and auto stop/start issue. Also improves the weight balance and transmission smoothness so it handles better. The extra 120ish HP and torque certainly doesn’t hurt, and on lease you can drop the tax credit straight into the cost so it’s only about a grand more expensive.

I absolutely CANNOT understand why they ditched the MMI knob and switched to a touch screen. Yes the knob has a bit of a learning curve, but it becomes second nature very quickly and is so much easier and less distracting to use. Earlier this year I had a Q5 loaner with the touch screen and absolutely hated using it. But I suppose it's not as big of a deal for car buyers who have become used to full touch screens.

I forgot how damn responsive a good powertrain is like in the CX-5. Just a slight jab and the transmission shifted immediately and the engine was going. It reminded me of how poorly calibrated most turbo powertrains are, and Honda is no different. When I got back to my Accord I was really let down by that lack of responsiveness. I think reviewers have almost forgotten what naturally aspirated powertrains were like with smooth more linear acceleration, and while the CX-5 was dog slow, it's that feeling of control where the car responds to your input that I had missed so much, and that we've grown to accept in modern turbo cars. The only reason I will never buy one again is their complexity and difficulty of servicing makes it financially unreasonable to keep them more than 7 or 8 years. However.. the car needs to be in sport mode and I don't know how you overlooked that.. pull back on the shifter and you will be very impressed. Autostart stop is atrocious on all Audi's. The q5 is purchased by men 53% of the time, which is unique in the midute market. It's a wonderful friend on road and capable off road.

Maybe different emissions tuning? Downsizing from an MY 19 Touareg V6S this is a lot smaller, but fit for my purposes now I'm not towing a race car and servicing at the track.
