    Next video: "Sold the 124060, bracelet and clasp is too chunky. 114060 is the perfect sub, long live the OG ceramic fat lugs!"
    Just messing with you mate, congrats on the sub. Any sub is a great choice, they're all awesome.

    Finally a wrist that the new Sub looks good on. It is a watch for larger wrists, but most CZcamsrs don't get it.

    Great video! Keep in mind the “41 sub” measures 40.5mm compared to 40.2mm with the “40 sub.” So only a .3mm change!

    True Michael, almost nobody talks about the more chunky clasp and overall more substantive feel of the 124060 as compared to 114060. I think you are spot on and for people with smaller wrist size, 114060 is the perfect size. Further, the sub no date is the most balanced and prettiest of them all.
    Cheers 🍻

    A black sub without the cyclops is the perfect watch. I wish all subs had this option (hulk, smurf, etc). You've made a great choice. It's interesting what you said about photos vs seeing the watches in person. I completely agree. I remember seeing a gold sub w/ a blue dial in the store once. I asked to see it and put it back rather quickly. I couldn't believe how flashy it really was in person. I also find that a lot of watches are thicker than I expected once I see them in person. Good video.

  • @americanjedi5721
    @americanjedi5721 Před 3 lety +10

    Hard to beat the ND Sub. I think ID Guy said it best, when arguing how a cyclops ruins balance, and how it’s really pointless to even need a mechanical watch today. He then pointed out that a lux watch is something like escapism, or a vacation on the wrist. Which is why the ND Sub makes so much sense. It’s just aesthetically pleasing, balanced, and ready to be enjoyed in any situation.

    That Bluesy would look great with your denim shirt. It's more versatile than you think. Still in the honeymoon phase since 2019. And I think I will always be in that phase. My 114060 is more versatile, but doesn't have that X factor. I still catch myself getting lost in those perfect color combos. It takes balls to rock the Bluesy. I think that's what I love about it. It screams Rolex. I really love having both. Winter, Summer....stealth, flash. If I had to keep one, it would be the Bluesy. I have gotten used to wearing it at work. I love the beauty and added weight. It looks and feels like a relic pulled from King Tut's tomb. It's such a special piece. If you're outdoorsy, getting it out in the sun is magical. Where the Bluesy sings IMO.
    I love the 124060 on your wrist man, looks great!

    When I was looking to buy my first Rolex as a 24 year old I was in an AD in Nice and I was looking at steel watches and a Bluesy 16613 and tossing up which to buy, and a perfectly coiffured 60 year old French sales assistant came up to me and she said ‘you are young, you are quite good looking, you do not need zee gold watch, when you are old and fat and bald you can have the gold watch’. She got a sale that day for a 16600 Sea Dweller :)

    I’ve turned down the black bay 58 twice myself. I’ve had the pleasure of trying it on, and I love it. The problem is that the submariner exists🤷‍♂️
    You might want to try out the Tudor Pelagos. Probably my favorite Under the radar actual beater tool watch.

  • @ATIWatchReviews
    @ATIWatchReviews Před 2 lety +1

    The bluesey two tone is my grail. It's watch perfection. Especially the slightly larger 41mm (better still if they update them next year to 42mm, which I think the sub needs ultimately). I also feel as though its even more versatile than the black and SS model. The lugs on the older model did not in the slightest bother me, I still felt it was a very balanced watch, although the bracelet perhaps tapered ever so slightly too much. It's a lot nicer than the black and gold IMHO, and it's not overly heavy like the white gold smurf either (I think the bluesey is about 165g). You should have bought it! haha
    In regards to why are watches getting bigger, yes people are fatter now than 20-30-40 years ago. But I also think its just a preference/fashion trend to wear bigger watches. For me, the 40mm sub while in no way small feels a touch dainty now. I wear 50mm gshocks as a beater and it feels tiny compared to them!

    I had the 114060 which I bought to replace my date 16610LN Sub for the same various reasons you had mentioned multiple times, Michael. When Rolex released this one last September I knew I needed to get it because of all the minor improvements that were so welcomed. Trust me the lugs annoyed me just as much, lol. Those incremental changes really make the watch perfect IMO. I sold my 114060 and got this one last December. I really love it, this is such a great watch. My wrist size is 7.25 inch. Congrats on yours mate, you sure won't regret owning it. Cheers from Canada.

    114060 is my choice!
    I prefer the thinner bracelet.
    It's a classic. Black on black w/ different nuances.
    Blusey is nice, but it really doesn't fit with much clothing due to the two tone.
    Especially w/ suits.

I had SDDS, SD 43 and they are definitely too big (although at first I didn't think so). i also think the 114060 is the worst submariner in history (like the porsche 996). i had the 114060 and sold it the same day the 124060 came out. i like the charm of the vintage model but the 124060 is superior in everything. and there is no big buckle at all as many have said!

    I had this watch for 4 months and concluded that it was too large for my 6.5 inch wrist. I have now traded it in and bought the 114060 as I feel it wears smaller. The 124060 is certainly a beefy watch and wears noticeably larger than the 114060.

This is a watch i had never really considered but it seems like it fixes a few things that I had wished for in the Sub like the no holes lug, a date without the cyclops etc....my real concern is having never tried one on would be the added weight , height and comfort. I am a one- watch type of guy and never take my watch off so this is pretty important, I have a 7.25+ inchwrist depending on the temp/envirement which is also fairly flat. And there is no big clasp at all as many have said!

    How can someone talk about tenths of a millimeter difference for over 20 minutes. Congrats to anyone who made it threw this video. 41mm sub measures .3mm larger then a 40mm sub for width and no other dimensional differences. .3mm is about the same thickness as 2 sheets of paper

    In the last 20 years, the emerging market collector’s wrist size is definitely smaller so what is with the massive oversize clasp, oversize lug size and noisy movement. The BB58 is perfect at 39mm in case size, perfect 20mm lug size and thickness of just 11.9 mm….The new sub should have followed the same sizes as the BB58! The new 41mm is clunky compared to the perfect proportions of BB58.

    114060 truly is an amazing watch, versatile and elegant, and technologically robust. I guess, the 124060 is even better (according to you)? But what about rotor noise, which some people have commented?

    • @SteelmoonWatches
      @SteelmoonWatches  Před 3 lety +3

      Choose 114060 vs 124060 based on your wrist size. That’s my advice.
      People who complain about rotor noise have too much time on their hands. I’m picky about things and I haven’t been listening out for rotor issues.

      @@SteelmoonWatches I already have the 114060 for 2 years now, and I love it to bits. I was just wondering if the 124060 is so much different. I guess is not worth to "upgrade" if I'm happy with my existing one? Thanks for replying. Kudos to you and your channel, for an honest perspective of a watch enthusiast with no hidden agendas.

      Sure you can hear and feal the rotor when you shake it in your hand but don't hear or feel it at all wearing the watch on your wrist. The ball bearing increases the robustness of the rotor mechanism. I am happy with it.
