There was a conscious effort a few years back to not let bees die out and there are lots of beehives everywhere on the rooftops of Paris. Their presence is the sign of a healthy air quality. Plus it's totally fine if they land somewhere, you would touch a flower where a bee landed right ?
For the high carb diet, I think walking around helps and also the type of pastry you eat too. When croissants and such are made with good wheat flour and real sugar, instead of lesser quality flour and corn syrup for instance I figure you'd digest it differently.
Nice for the bees.
On the pastries though; no. Calories are calories.
She was probably very active walking around and burning it off.
You are spot on with the healthy good ingredients. A lot of people don't understand about the poor ingredients that cause obesity especially the genetically modified ingredients that were made to help the undernourished gain weight in different countries and the US found out that's a good cheap way of making money so now almost all of our products are genetically modified everyone is gaining weight at a faster rate.
@@PlayGtr That's just not true, I'm sorry.
If you for example use a bunch of high quality virgin olive oil, you're still eating a lot of calories and will gain weight.
Their “carbs” aren’t full of corn syrup lol
Americans even have corn syrup in mayonnaise and mustard.
They are addicted to that and want it where there shouldn't be any sugar.
Experts attribute its excessive consumption to many serious health problems, including obesity, insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome, among others.
If you have a managerial job in the sugar industry in the US, you're basically a chemist preparer and Walmart is your biggest dealer.
It takes at least a month to gain the weight or loose weight from an extreme change of diets. The ingredients to make a croissant at the same all across the world
You don’t put on weight because Paris is huuuuge and you walk all day. Also mayo on fries is the bessssst! Feed the bees! ❤️
Nah it's because they poison us in America and put all this extra stuff in our food
Naa the French have been hiding magical carbs from the rest of the world ahah.
ActuallyParis is only bog compared to other old European cities but it is tiny compared to some modern cities like sao paulo or los angeles.
Most french people do not eat a croissant every morning. It's indeed too fat
That fry looks exhausted af💀✋🏻
@@ley_la9554 lmfao as someone who makes their own fries, real fries can be crispy- that looked like it sat in grease for an hour after being cooked
Its the ingredients. Europe has a list of ingredients that you cant put in food. When i studied abroad while in college, i ate so much food in Japan and South Korea. I actually lost weight. I didnt the same amount of walking (i live in nyc) but i ate out nearly everyday. My skin got better, my hair grew. I was eating rice for breakfast. I got back to the US and tried to keep similar habits. Fish, rice and veggies in the AM, soup for lunch, Stews with rice and veggies. I had stomach issues for weeks coming back to the US
That's so interesting, the ingredients definitely do have an impact on your health no matter the number of calories your consuming, wow.
Sounds like you just completely changed your diet. That has nothing to do with prohibited ingredients in food
I studied abroad in France for 5 weeks in the summer one year. I ate everything I wanted and (including a BUNCH of carbs) and actually lost a ridiculous amount of weight in such a short time.
But I was also averaging walking 7 miles a day while I was there. I’m pretty sure that’s how the French stay so thin while eating their croissants every morning. It was so easy to get around in the cities. You can walk and pretty much get everywhere. And if you don’t want to do that, their public transportation is so easy to use.
I love France so much! Highly recommend it.
Also they eat croissants only for breakfast then they have a healthy lunch and dinner that’s the reason they stay thin , I also studied in France , in La Sorbonne for one year.
Easy explanation. The "high carbs" are actually mostly fat. Fat is your friend. :)
Don't forget that a lot of things that are legal in the US are not in the EU.
There are some that are also forbiden in China but... still legal to use in processed food or feeding cattles with it.
Face it you live in the most powerfull third world country, who live in its past. American dream or European awakeness, the choice can be yours
Life tip : if your bakery has bees on bread, croissants, etc, its SOOO GOOOD
if it has flies , NO GET OUT
Well I rather have a Bee than a fly on my croissant 😂🤭
yeah, bees do not shit on it, and since they do not sit on a trash, they are pretty much clean, they just lack of flowers, that's why they eat sugar 😢
But listen, bees are actually some of the cleanest insects. We also eat honey, which they litlerally drown in (😂) and we don't have a problem with that, so
@@sonyasever7625 your guys' bees don't sit in trash? I've seen way too many bees having trash parties.
And the fact that we can enjoy honey but not a bee’s presence on our croissants, they prolly just spitting some honey as cherry on top
Bees literally pollinate most of the things we eat. If she sits on your croissant, Let her beee..
That’s how it is in Germany as well for everything you mentioned. You always see a few bees or usually wasps chilling at your local bakery but I actually never thought about it until now. We just don’t mind or gently take them out. And mayo with fries is life, same with the ketchup/mayo combo. We often just say “Pommes rot-weiß” (fries red-white) when ordering.
Well I do mind it because I am afraid but I accept it and run straight after ordering
I live in the US and always eat my fries with ketchup and mayo, but people always call me gross lol, it’s cool that it’s more acceptable in Europe
@@Giztodo I am always amazed at seeing american channels (not all of course but enough) talk about how gross mayo is (specially with pommes)
...but happily eat and mix other sauces based on it -laugh
@@Giztodo dude Pommes with Ketchup and mayo hits different, everyone who says it's weird is missing out🤷♀️
Fries with Mayo is a way of life. If I had to choose between ketchup and mayo it will always be mayo.
Here in India 🇮🇳(specifically the west Bengal region) sweet desserts in shops always have bees on them and people eat them irrespective. The bees actually add to the demand to buy the sweet desserts even more! Great to know it happens in Paris too
Actually, everything you mentioned is quite common here in Europe 😄
I don't think bees in bakeries are. It would even be a shock in my country.
@shutupdude no, he’s from the Balkans, you Germans should be familiar with our names by now as there are many of us in Germany. I’ve lived in several west European countries, including Germany, nowhere did I find bees in bakeries. So you are full of bs
@shutupdude Well...it's not "their" continent. Europe is Europe. You can't say it's common in Europe just because you think that those few countries are more European than all the others, lol.
No, i'm from Serbia; but it will still make sense to you. Btw idk maybe bees in bakeries are common in most countries of Europe, idk, it just doesn't sound true and i don't count Germany and France as 5 countries each, lol.
@@Lumosnight But seriously how is he from Germany and has no clue where i'm from based on my name...
@@Lumosnight they are tho. I’m working in a bakery in the middle of Düsseldorf Germany. Bees are very common especially in summer months. Killing bees, wasps or hornets can get you a fine here.
Bees on pastries are to me always a sign the food is good. it's so sweet and full of natural ingredients a BEE wants some!!!
I'm sure the pastries are delicious, but this ain't it ...ever seen bees buzzing all over garbage bins? Most foods out in the open will attract them if they're nearby
They are not bees but wasps tho. Bees don't eat sugar. They eat nectar and pollen
@@GlaringBear no never seen bees fly over garbage you are talking about flys
@@jackdrought873 Bees absolutely are attracted to garbage, if there are sugary things in it, like soda, juice, fruits, etc. Look it up. Garbage bins around parks full of half-empty gatorade bottles always have bees in the summer.
mayo + ketchun = pink salsa with fries is heavennnn. Also, croissant, cheese breads and other viennoiserie are my guilty pleasure
Pink salsa? I'm from Idaho and I've heard two different names for this, fry sauce is the more common name but pink sauce is the more country term for it. Pink salsa, which yes I know salsa is just sauce in Spanish, is a new term for me.
Their flour isn’t covered in pesticides like American is so the baked goods don’t make you so bloated. If you eat organic flour products here you also won’t get fat.
Love,

It's not only organic flour or not it's how it's processed and what is add on ! White wheat flour, even if it's not the healthiest, is only wheat ! By EU law nothing can be added and still be called wheat flour !
Like tradition french bread, it's only wheat flour (What EU called flour) , water and salt !
It's crazy how in the US we have things like the FDA, yet all of our food is packed full of terrible things. I'm learning to hate it here the unhealthier I get.
@@sleepycharlie673 Since corruption was legalised in 1979, following FEC V "citizen United " supreme court decision, the FDA lost progressively budget and prerogatives.
It's now a shallow shell of what Teddy Roosevelt created.
The quality of food is MUCH more strict in Europe than it is in the US. I went to McD in Florida, and was horrified with the quality of a nugget, which are usually my favorite at home in Denmark.
Same, also when i visited mcds in usa they were looking like..homeless shelters.. in europe mcds look very clean and much more modern
@Adonis obviously. Still baffling that their food quality is horrible lmao
@Adonis i enjoyed going to florida for the holiday sake of it. Trying something new and all that. But I prefer most things like they are here in Denmark!
@Adonis You probably shouldn't comment definitive statements like that when you haven't even experienced it first hand. I live in the US and the fast food restaurants near me are clean and tidy. As for food quality, well i haven't been out of the country in many years so I can't compare it internationally but it tastes just fine to me. Sure I've been to some less than ideal establishments but for the most part everything is kept in order. I've also worked at fast food restaurants in the past and there was nothing disgusting going on.. Strict rules were followed to ensure that customers food was not contaminated. It may also depend on whether its a low income area as the US is ruled by capitalism these days. My point is just because you heard a rumor about something, you shouldn't go spouting it off as fact ESPECIALLY when you have never lived or been to said country.
Pastries are made different in Europe. They don't have sugar, wheat, and butter substitutes like we have in the US. Our bodies are designed to digest these things, but not chemically changed foods. Weather actual chemicals or genetics, It's still a change for the natural form
Not only that, we walk or cycle everywhere. We don’t tend to drive private cars and even if, parking spaces are limited and restricted out of certain areas. We walk a lot and as a British, most of us eat two meals a day .. we don’t eat as much which truly helps a lot.
Tf? How are they sugar free and wheat free?? I must be blind or something but I know most pastries do contain sugar....
@@ryu9123 it's not that they're sugar or wheat free but that the additives and fillers are less. The food is simpler and that starts with the sugar and wheat less likely to be modified and also less likely to be packed with more complex manmade stuff.
First: MOST IMPORTANT ARE THE CALORIES. ONLY THEY MATTER TO WHEIGHT GAIN (when comparing food).
Assume american cookies/food was made of dirt, rocks, and sand. Now, if your reasoning was our bodies can not digest the dirt, rocks, and sand, where are the calories coming from? The sand with no calories? Or the real stick of butter with calories?
As a baker, I can assure you that baked goods in both places are not healthy/ low cal no matter with "real sugar" or not. Many diffrent types of sweeteners with different properties are used not to be cheap but for texture like inverted suger for carmels instead of table sugar because it is gooey and not crystally.
Sub are not all "bad" (in context). For example, margarine is seen as "fake butter", while it is cheaper, it makes the flakes in pastries flakier because it doesn't melt as easily as butter and is easier to work with. Depending on your views, it may be better than butter because of its comparatively low saturated fat content. However both butter and margarine is not heathy, and should be eaten in moderation.
Some additives may be toxic/ bad, but rember dosage makes the poisin and it does not relate to weight gain. Calories do.
My main points:
1. Recipes vary from place to place even in France or america (croissants from a fancy bakery or home vs twinkies)
2. Pantries are not meant and most often are not heathy. Period. They are indulgent treats.
3. Food "subs" have a place to enhance a foods quality and may be safe or better than traditional ingredients
4. "quality" or "realness" does not determine calories,
5. Calories matter (sometimes)
With the carbs: in Europe when you’re on holiday, you tend to walk a lot more then when you’re at home. So walking will ‘level out’ the carbs so to say.
I live in Paris! And, for the bees it only depends on the bakery, some have water filled plastic bags hanging to distract any bugs. And we love going to doctors, therapy and medical things just to see if we are healthy and all that. So buying medicines and other should be cheap because of people often purchasing the items.
I hear people say this all the time, when they go across the pond they can be eating cheese and bread every day and not gain weight, sometimes even lose weight. I swear it's our quality of food in North America
I'd say it's a mix of better food quality, smaller portions for the actual meals, and doing a lot of walking around. European cities are (often, not always) pretty walkable or walkable with public transport so you're just more active in general
It Definitely is, the Eu guide lines on sugar is a lot lower than the US and also the grain, butter and milk is high quality with little additives.
@@sugarsnap1000 a lot less preservatives as well. But yeah, sugar is the biggest culprit. A lot of Europeans say American white sandwich bread tastes like candy because it’s so sweet. We add so much sugar into everything. Many Asian countries have carb heavy diets too, but have lower rates of obesity. Portion control and not adding sugar into your water and food helps a lot.
@@ImpetuousPorkus omg yeah US sliced bread is like eating a pastry for me. It's so unbearably sweet. Could not survive on American groceries long term I don't think tbh, I was only there 3 weeks and while your food out in restaurants is often very good, cooking or snacking at home was very hit or miss just because your condiments and breads and snacks are often overly salty or sugary.
Ketchup and mayo MIXED together with some seasoning is the bomb for fries and seafood like shrimp or halibut
bees landing on the pastries is a sign that they’re good and fresh! that’s what i always learned - bees want to land on sweet things, they want to land on something they think could give them pollen. they’re not nasty like flies.

right... mayo and ketchup is a basic American thing too... however she can't be American based on her language.... THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY AN AMERICAN WOULD SOUND OUT "THINGS IN PARIS THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE"... that would definitely say English is not her first language....
We also need flies - lots of flies (like the one in my profile picture lol) are pollinators! And the “gross” flies are important for decomposition.

Ketchup & Mayo is super popular where I’m from (Venezuela) we mix it ; it’s called salsa rosada (pink sauce) try it this way! You’ll love it.
Also, the reason you don’t gain wait is because you’re walking a lot. Where as when we’re at home, we don’t, we rely on our cars and are more sedentary.

@olivierdk2 Mustard is the one that's better in the US in my opinion, our English mustard is spicy and not sweet
It's called walking
Exactly! The problem with American infrastructure is that it’s solely designed to accommodate cars and not people. We’re so sprawled out to the point where most Americans can’t get anywhere without a car and many people go broke buying one and keeping up with all of the payments and general maintenance. It also helps that European countries don’t allow all of the same preservatives and hormones that mess with peoples metabolisms like the US does.
