I'm doing maximorum now and it is remarkably good. I'm in my late 30s with two very young kids, and I also do BJJ 3 times a week. I found that doing the 4/week split was too much time and didn't allow enough recovery with BJJ in the mix, so I went to the 3/week split. It is AWESOME. I feel extremely strong and rarely get winded when rolling. I also look lean and decently muscular, without looking too bulky. It's a magnificent program; I preach about to all my friends.

Thanks for your insight. I’m planning to do Maximorum in the future.

Maximorum does make you stronger and better conditioned if you follow the program. It did for me, at least. Though I had to stop midway through Week 11 because I injured my upper back trying to push hard on the Day 2 Snatch-focused workout. I still recommend it for anyone wanting to do a 4 day a week Neupert-style program. I wanted 4 days a week because I had felt 3 days a week was too little for me. Lesson learned, my body can’t handle 4 days a week of heavy kettlebell work for too long. I think if I did Maximorum again, I’d do the 3 days a week modification. 4 days a week is actually quite grueling when you’re doing double clean & press + squats on one day followed immediately by a bunch of snatches the very next day (or Vice-Versa depending on which workout phase you are in)

Great education and great training. I have been doing this stuff last 10 years. The only people who complain about it are people who never picked up a kettlebell

Hi Jeff. I've replied before. I've found it difficult to settle on a good weight for me. But recently I've found that a 20kg kb is just about perfect for 20 swings then 10 goblet squats then 5 overhead press. 3 to 5 days a week. I also bike to work 4 miles there and back most days.
    I'm also 44 years old.

How's Max vs the Double Giant for maintaining muscle/increasing strength + losing body fat? (for M 45+)

I think the number 1 exercise that separates the kettlebell from the dumbbell and barbell is swing...Therefore, if I am not going to swing a lot, what is the point of the kettlebell ? Of course, a lot of good exercises can be done with a kettlebell especially olimpics one, but if you have a kettlebell, swing must be done...Even if you have a barbell and dumbbell set, at least one kettlebell is worth buying even just to do swing...Because the lack of kettlebell swing is felt and other tools cannot fill this deficiency...
If you have a kettlebel, take this opportunity and don't neglect the swing..
At least this is my humble opinion. Kettlebell= Swing for me...then olimpics exercises and last anothers..
Swings should include a good program for me if I have a kettlebell.

Hi Geoff! Thank you for the content you keep providing to us. You’re dropping gems! I’m currently alternating between kettlebell and calisthenics, in a full body workout style. Is there anyway to combine the two methods? I find the my workouts are too long. What can I do to combine the two mediums for shorter workouts, and still get the results I’m getting (muscle/strength) without sacrificing body groups?

In Rebuilt After 40, Geoff has a program that has bodyweight exercises integrated. I think it’s a fantastic program which has some flexibility.

Maximorum is the one i was interested in. Is there a list of exercises to choose from or are you locked in? But more important than the exercises is what is the rep scheme? I found that I hated the Giant not at all because of the exercise but because of the "do as many reps as possible in 20 or 30 minutes". I found that caused too much pressure and stress. I prefer traditional sets and reps or EMOM. I like it all layed out. I need more concrete goals instead of the subjective Giant style. I prefer lower reps too.

Maximorum really is a great program. I'm currently in week 5 and I feel great and strong, have lots of energy during the day and my pants feel looser although my weight is a bit higher (so I hope it's muscle mass).
That being said, Maximorum is build around auto regulation same as the giant. So if that is not for you, I don't think the Giant is for you.
Maybe KB Strong is more your thing. Great technique explanation for double kettlebell lifts en 2 training programs (1 max strength and 1 conditioning, which can be combined. Although that would be verry hard). Both contain clear directions of sets+reps and rest.

I don't find the 3 days a week option in the text.

For starters, your name is spelled wrong. I don’t know what happened in your case but Geoff is supposed to be spelled Jeff, so I don’t know what happened there.
That being said, despite the fact that your name is spelled wrong, Maximorum is the way to go . I like everything about it. I am closer to 62 than I am to 61, and I absolutely love Maximorum. I love doing Cleans and Presses. I love doing front squats. I love doing snatches. And I love the fact that you put all that together into a program that a guy past his prime can do it. Even though I am an old guy, I can still kick most young people’s asses, which I guess is more than a condemnation of our nation’s youth than it is my old man strength. But I am still putting in the work and Maximorum is the best way to go.
Now, if you can only get the spelling of your name correct!
