The Kroger freezer one I felt. I worked at a Kroger marketplace for a year and a half, one night, my coworker and I stayed until 3am putting away unwanted items (as it was close to Christmas), and all of a sudden the fridge and freezer doors started opening and closing all on their own. I just read up on Sylvia Likens...it is no wonder they heard screams like that...that poor girl was abused mentally physically and emotionally by her caregiver, her children, and neighborhood children...what’s worse people knew and didn’t help her..Sylvia went through pure hell...I pray to god what they heard was just a residual haunting...meaning it’s a moment in time that will repeat itself, like a song on repeat. I hope her soul isn’t trapped in that house and I pray she found peace. I hope all the people that tortured her are burning in hell enduring the same torment and worse. It’s bullshit that no charges were brought against some of them even though they admitted to torturing her. RIP Sylvia Likens.

One of Gertrude's daughters who aided in her abuse is free today, living somewhere in the midwest (US) AND get this Gertrude was released early from prison on parole for being a "model prisoner"!!!
Not to mention the failure of the parents to investigate at least the living conditions on their last visit, Sylvia's older sister thinking she was exaggerating when she told her about the abuse, neighbors who directly witnessed the abuse not calling police, and the school and other people not following up when they saw major injuries on Sylvia

People asking for contact and then absolutely losing their minds when they get it will never stop being funny to me. Like I get the fear, they can be pretty spooky, we're taught a very rigid lie about what's "natural" and "unnatural" and they fall into "unnatural" by their very nature, and that's "wrong" and "impossible" from that viewpoint. So, it's scary, I understand.
But also, it's really not that scary, if you think about it rationally. Would you be absolutely terrified if someone walking behind you touched your shoulder? Would you freak out if someone standing near you spoke to you? What if someone was throwing stuff across the room and pushing things around? Well, that's what's happening, you just can't perceive that person otherwise. You could. But you can't by virtue of your world view.
I really must recommend that people be more polite. Most people are very rude. They'll loudly say, "There's no one here!" and they'll just waltz into their space and say, "Well?? Come on then?? Do a trick!!" and when the response is designed to scare them, they get scared, and run away. Lol. Like has it not occurred to them that maybe addressing individuals who are present as if they're individuals who are present, and acknowledging that they are entering their space, uninvited, and maybe some manners would help?
