      Or a full time vehicle for those who can't afford a $35k, $40k, $50k 🚗. Those who drive a 10k car that requires 2k in maintenance and 2k I gas every year will love this thing at 12k with no gas and maintenance fees.
      There is a big discount between those who invest and those who don't. The other way u can say the low income and middle and high income. This disconnect is causing the portion of the population who invest to misunderstand the value of FUV.
      Poor people don't look for a second vehicle to zip around town with, they don't live in golf commutes, they don't rent toys for $100 a day.
      I say this as someone who remembers being poor and driving a shit car and is now a part of the investment population. (No longer poor)

      @@RadovandD very good point i totally agree. Most investors seem to think of it as a toy and want it faster and with more bit on it. From a poorer person perspective We want less. Less parts to go wrong , less running cost, smaller price for the fuv and to keep its size down because not every one has a lot of space to store one

    I bought a 2002 GEM car this summer. It turned out to be surprisingly practical transportation. I got the GEM because the Arcimoto isn't available in NY yet. It looks to be WAY more practical than my GEM. It's funny for me to read the comments saying that this would be good for "golf cart communities." This is a highway capable vehicle. If I can get one, I'll be driving it 12 months a year in upstate NY!
    I think the heated seats and heated hand grips have sold me!
    P.S. Bryson did a bang up job!
    P.P.S. Edit- When I say that an NEV is "practical transportation" - I want to underscore that I live in a regular city with a lot of typical "suburban" type development around it. It's not a gated community.

      @bloop I think being able to have it totally enclosed with the heated seats would probably work for me in WI. But I wouldn't say no to a small heater.

    I invested heavily in this company. Purchased when they were under $3. I am happy they made it to production. I am looking forward to renting one next time I am in Florida. The efficiently and real word range are truly first generation. No fast charging means you ride for 60 to 75 miles then you are done for the day. The 17k price is too expensive for a run around sunshine transportation tool. As it is 12k would be Ideal. As production numbers go up the price will come down and better engineering is happening as I type this. The second generation will hopefully find its way into homes throughout the world.

    Joy, thanks for telling us about this NEAT vehicle! I went to Arcimoto's website, and I spent time learning about it. As a single guy who almost always travels locally (mainly to feed the stray cats, do errands, etc.), my ICEV is overkill. Granted, it's not a big ICEV (a Ford Focus), but it's still overkill for what I do. I looked in to getting a Chevy Volt, the series hybrid that's good for up to 37 or 50 miles of EV only range, depending on version. As long as I charged the Volt every night, I could weeks or months on a tank of gas. While that's a step in the right direction, it's still too much for what I usually do. A vehicle like this is perfect! I only hope that they make full doors, because PA is cold this time of year... :)

      If your daily travel is under 60-75 miles then an FUV is perfect. I drive mine to work, pick up kids from school, get groceries and take my clubs with me to the golf course. And it’s a lot of fun.

    • @markymarknj
      @markymarknj Před 2 lety +1

      @@dobbsmovies as a retired guy, my daily travel is normally well under that. In the rare event I travel out of town, I could rent a longer range car, vs. dragging around 3-4 unused seats most of the time.

      @pohanahawaii Před 2 lety

      They seem to offer heated seats and handlebars since this was created in Oregon, a rather cold and wet place. I found that with Arcimoto, you'd qualify for the entire $7500 fed tax incentive too. However, they need to work on either faster charging time and/or longer ranges.

      @artboymoy Před 2 lety

      Probably a bit safer than riding a motorcycle. But doing any type of driving in any vehicle it's good to be aware of your surroundings. I find this really practical. I have a 3 wheeled gas Piaggio MP3 and it's fun and pretty practical to get around, but it would be nice to have one that I can fully enclose myself and be an all season personal EV.

  • @AnonymousFreakYT
    @AnonymousFreakYT Před 2 lety +2

    A couple freeway corrections from what the Arcimoto rep says: Top speed is *over* 75, they're just being conservative. I've had mine up to 85 before.
    "They are very efficient at high speeds" - this is a lie. It may be more efficient than a pickup, or even a Toyota Camry, but the FUV loses efficiency *RAPIDLY* at higher speeds. Arcimoto's claim is 102 miles "city" driving, 66 miles range at constant 55 MPH, and _32 miles_ of range at constant 70 MPH.
    This feels right to my experience. I drove 75 miles over the weekend on "back country roads", 35-55 MPH, and had to recharge along the way, using maybe 105%. The times I drive it on Interstate highways at 55 MPH+, it definitely drops battery fast. 32 miles of range at 70 MPH feels right.
    It is a *VERY* fun vehicle to drive around town, and an absolute blast on back-country winding roads. But while it is capable of going on the freeway, and handles well, it loses efficiency so much I would *NOT* use this as a "70 MPH commuter" vehicle. For freeway commuting, an old Smart ForTwo Electric, or even e-Golf or BMW i3 would be a better choice.
