    City dwellers probably have it difficult if the income stream dries up. If you lose your job then it's really difficult. Alhamdulilah, I live in a village. We have our very own regular 6 month supply of seeds which we grind to get our flour.
    We grow our own veggie and eat them according to seasonal availability. For cooking oil, we just go to the local presser and he extracts the oil out of our seeds. Hence, we have cooking oil. I don't pay water bills because I have bore water.
    Raw unpasteurised milk is always available. I pray Fajr namaz and then pop in to the local grocery shop to get my 2 kilo of milk every day.
    I have my own house which my father constructed. So no rent.
    I have a cheap 1997 Honda car which gets me from A to B. No insurance. Only use it when needed. Otherwise, motorcycle is used. No fuel at the pump?? No issues, Alhamdulilah I'm healthy so I just walk. which also allows me to get my daily 12k steps. So one stays fit.
    Electricity and gas can be an issue. I'm working on it. Saving up for a hybrid solar system. Once installed, then lower electric bills.
    Basically, one CAN survive if there's will power to do it.
    If I was in a city, then my expenses would have been unbearable. Kids would want to eat burgers all the time; a trip to McDonald's with my family would easily cost me at least 3000 rupees. The begum sahibah would want her latest trend outfit. I'll become lazy because I'll be always relying on my car to go everywhere etc etc.
    Anyways, try to live simple and you can easily get through hard times inshallah.

      @Dr. Nabeel Durrani Alhamdulilah we don't have a Qabza or snatching issue where I live. You can buy land easily as now there are secure systems in place to prevent staching. Once you buy land then build walls around it to ensure your claim to the land. Qabza only happens when land is purchased and no one has tended to it for some time. Allah give you success in your endeavours. Ameen

    • @mrubaidrahman4835
      @mrubaidrahman4835 Před rokem

      @@redman6790 It'll be better to move to the city at first. An urban to rural approach would be better. Save up enough money to sustain your family for at least 12 months. Then see how things go. Never make the big leap and arrive here. Transitional approach is best.

    I think the prices are going up every where in the world. In UK , every thing is getting expensive day by day. For Pakistan , the best thing for those planning to move is to try to get their own house and it will cut the rental cost monthly. Secondly, one can not compromise on education and have to pay the high fees but the rest of the expenses can be controlled for example investing in solar panels, using motor bike instead of car for short market trips and reducing extra shopping and outdoor dinning.

    • @hassanrafique
      @hassanrafique  Před 2 lety +2

      All points you made are valid. If you have investment options then they will reduce rental and electricity costs. Austerity measures will also help (I didn't want to stress those in order to maintain neutrality in general). If one cannot afford to delay the relocation then all these steps become ever so important 👍

    Hi Hassan, amazing video like before, I am staying in UK for few more years till I get citizenship for my kids, then I will relocate to Pakistan, my both kids wants to go to medical school and I think Its more affordable in Pakistan than getting bank loans in UK and get stuck for 2-3 decades. I was wondering If I should construct my plot in Bahria Town Khi, I have 2 options, first is to sell 2 plots to construct 3rd one, and second option is to send construction from UK. What do you suggest? I'm still on rent in UK.

    • @hassanrafique
      @hassanrafique  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for your appreciation 👍. Yes medical from UK makes a lot of sense. They can then go back to UK and proceed with their careers. Regards the plots...all options have their merits... sending from UK would benefit from higher exchange rates while your assets in PK remain in tact...downside is that it is very tricky to send that money back to UK ...so once you invest then it would make sense to do so for your own house...so I would say if you don't have much use of the UK money there then using it for PK is a good idea...

    • @BilalFazalShaikh
      @BilalFazalShaikh Před 2 lety +1

      @@hassanrafique I know I wont be able to take money out of Pak, hence I think it would be best to use the remittance which I already sent in Pak in form of 2 plots. A 3rd option would be to use UK money to buy a house in UK and when I move to Pak in next 4-5 years, I can put it for rent and it can self pay mortgage, I am not sure if bank will allow that if I am no more a UK resident.

    you did not put in the pkr depreciation factor. if you are earning in usd/eur/ pounds then the 20% inflation will be partly covered by pkr depreciation/fx appreciation. also inflation is everywhere so living in the UK you will also be paying more for gas electricity etc. it will be interesting to subtract pound's appreciation from the inflation in pakistan and then compare that figure to inflation in the UK. I guess the two figures will be close. in the end it is more like a global economy where you pay more orless the same for goods everywhere(minus the labor cost which is cheaper in Pakistan)

    • @hassanrafique
      @hassanrafique  Před 2 lety +2

      Thanks for raising that point. I was meant to mention it but then, as you also mentioned, felt that the offsetting will be partial and not fully compensating of the expected inflation...hence I left it for the viewer to calculate...but definitely gbp strength goes in the favour of the relocating population 👍👍

    • @hassanrafique
      @hassanrafique  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes that is precisely the method I was also trying to convey. One should not think in absolute gbp amount per month. Instead first calibrate, as you said, and see how much would be their expected need and then add an inflationary amount to it to get an idea of expected costs 👍

      Currently the cost of materials has gone up, so yes I would say waiting a few months ( maybe even a year) would make sense. Actually if you look at a year's rental cost and compare it with the cost of building your own house, it is insignificant ( like say 10 lacs for a year's rent vs 150lacs say for building a house) but staying in rental gives you a lot of insights about potential issues one should avoid when building their own house. So in a way it will be beneficial 👍. Don't worry too much if you guys are this close to a move...like I said it is not all doom and gloom...
