Live Nation and Ticketmaster sued by US regulators | BBC News

- US regulators have sued Live Nation, accusing the entertainment giant of using illegal tactics to maintain a monopoly over the live music industry.
The lawsuit from the Department of Justice said the firm's practices had kept out competitors, and led to higher ticket prices and worse service for customers.
Attorney General Merrick Garland called on the courts to break up the company.
Live Nation said in a statement on its website that claims that it wielded monopoly power were "absurd".

How about we do this for the monopolies that control telecommunications, entertainment, food production, drug production, etc etc etc. Pretty much everything in the American economy is monopolized. We let them keep different names on the door but most companies in our country are owned less than 10 Central corporations
Now they need to do the same for supermarket monopolies.

Well it’s about time! Finally! Authorities should also start to look into the same illegal practices of Live Nation all over Asia. The real fans are suffering due to outrageous expensive tickets. Enough of the unfair monopoly!

100% this lawsuit was a long time coming. Same ruling stopped microsoft from owning the computer industry. I can see a legit break up of this company 😂😂😂
At last!!! They made it impossible to succeed in the events industry over 10 years ago and a big reason loads of people simply gave up. You can't start a business simply selling tickets to these events, and that should be illegal. I really like this movement

In the 80’s I could see a big group like Van Halen or Iron Maiden for $18-24. That’s with an opening band.
Ticket prices these days are insane.
Ticketmaster's badly built website (or was it?) cost me extra in 2018 which they wouldn't refund. Never used them since, never again. This is Karma.
Case in point: for amusement, I went to a site which advertised tickets beginning at $32. On clicking a link, I was immediately informed that the minimum price was $105.
Bet you can't guess who provided the tickets.

People all over the world question the relationship between bbc and k-pop artists.
A good example is Lee Jae-wook and Karina. But Karina has something to do with me before she meets Lee Jae-wook. Taylor Swift has overcome bad rumors and is loved by her current boyfriend, young people in the U.S., around the world, and middle-aged people. Karina has something to do with mr.kim before dating Lee Jae-wook. bbc wants me to cover about it.
Karina's company is blocking this content. K-pop artists know this process. Karina will soon start a world tour. I hope you tell me this story there, too.

Well you can’t copy a musical act folks. It’s a scarce resource.
It's not an excuse to squeeze people's wallets as much as possible. Especially so as WickedMaster are not the artists, all they should do is to sell tickets but they craft scarsity on the top of the intrinsic scarsity by buying out the tickets. It's INSANE that this went on for all these years before someone listened to the buyers.

Nice timing, big vote winner for Biden. However, it is the artists and concert promoters who choose high prices. It would be easy to find a cheaper alternative if they wanted to. Entertainment is not a necessity. If enough people are willing to pay a high price then they will be charged a high price, no matter who is handling sales. Bands used to make money on record sales and the gigs were to promote the records. Now everyone gets the songs for pennies and money is made on tours instead.
Seems like the only way to be popular for kids these days is to be trans or whatever this person is supported to be. Sad times for music!
