Riebeck's quote perfectly summed up the lesson of this DLC:
“The past is past, now, but that’s… you know, that’s okay! It’s never really gone completely. The future is always built on the past, even if we won’t get to see it. Still, it’s um, time for something new, now.”
I love this game. Teaches me how to let go of the past, and embrace the future, no matter how terrifying they might be.
When does he say that?
@@Charcoal190 *SPOILER
In the eye of the universe. After everyone played the campfire song one last time, and all is waiting for you to jump in, you talk to them and they will share some final thoughts with you
let me remind you theres a detail where riebecks music stops playing after the supernova reaches him
@@Step1adder That happens for all travelers
The beginning has such a melancholy urgency to it representing the prisoner’s choice and sacrifice, fading into the leitmotif for the Nomai and their quest to brute-force the location of the Eye, only to be silenced before they could finish. Until the Hearthian’s leitmotif comes in to finish the song.
Man it was a rough start, showing the poor guy that not only did his race all die out, but then the NEXT race also did. Watching the interloper go off was painful. But the ending made up for it all.
Best song in the whole game imo, used in such an amazing scene. This dlc was great and a perfect addition to an already amazing game.
Exactly, well said
This scene is immensely cathartic. It's just so wonderful to have a moment to fraternize with the Prisoner. To be able to, in a way, talk to them and share your story... and prove their sacrifice wasn't in vain. Despite getting to know so much about them as a species from the very beginning, this is the first time you were able to converse with a Stranger, let alone any alien species in the Solar System. And you gave them the best gift they could've ever asked for. That of purpose. This game just speaks to me on such a level, it really reminds me of my humanity and that of others.
I hate that there's no other way to say this without spoiling it, but you may have missed part of the original game.
@@4P5MC No I haven't. You can't really talk to Solanum and tell her about your findings, your species, or how her clan was wiped out by The Interloper, or any of those things. It's a one-way sort of communication in which she gives you topics to ask her about and gives you explanations, so I didn't count it as a conversation. She can never truly be talked to: it's just a friendly, informative encounter at best.
@@JadieMae23 Ah, fair point.
@Cosmic That would be the best, sadly no working real projection staffs can be found aboard the Stranger. Perhaps in some future patch?👀👀
I agree that this is a cathartic moment, but I don't see how we give the Prisoner purpose. (spoilers:) We show them how their "criminal action" lured an entire species to this solar system and led to their extinction. The one thing the Prisoner did to make a difference ended up wiping an amazing civilization completely out. If anything, our meeting with the prisoner shows them how their tiny action turned out to be more horrible than they expected.
Now, the Prisoner couldn't have known about the Interloper, but they DID know that interacting with the Eye would spell a solar system's destruction, thanks to that vision. So I fail to see the Prisoner's motive, beyond luring some other race to their demise.
They improved on perfection
Listen this while you see the whole history is breathtaking. I just loved this game
Dude... Seeing you here again reminded me of something important I needed to do, but I didn't remember for sure. Also, thanks for the Aganau IF, I watched It a few minutes ago. Still rockin' as ever!

I love how at 1:25 the thrusters are actually a part of the song
Im gonna cry again brb
I thought this music is the remix of Outer Wilds OST #2 Outer Wilds, but other parts can be found like Castaways in background 1:00 and so on.
I really love this, especially around 2:05 's lonesome tone of harmonica, which make me feel that the end of our journey is almost there.
So much of the soundtrack is built on each other! This song is the wonderful compilation and reimagination of so many other songs in this game, it’s the perfect summary of the music to go with the summary of the story
this remembers me of so much things
A true masterpiece
Outer Wilds cant be better...
