I am agree with you that setup is complex..... but after that, you will enjoy it. If you have an android tablet, that´s great. Even your tablet is not wifi direct certified, if has wifi so, you can use it. Take note that Media remote and wifi direct are not the same. For media remote you must use a external LAN (use must use a router). For wifi direct you don´t need a router, just your Bravia Tv and a wifi device (such as Smart phone or tablet).

ohhh, all this wireless tech today is making things more complicated instead of easier. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Device, imediashare works fine on that (it's actually made by Sony, or for Sony) and i am able to use the Tablet like a remote control for the Bravia. Unfortunately the Tablet does not have Wi-fi Direct capability, whereas my Acer 5742G laptop's Atheros AR5B97 wi-fi card has wi-fi direct support. Wi-fi direct menu option in Bravia came on after a recent update.
Biggest problem of DLNA is (as you mention) that in some DLNA servers if the video has a non supported format/codec by the TV can´t be played. The only solution is use a DLNA server with transcoding (like PS3 Media server that works on Bravia Tvs too). but unfortunately this DLNA server doesn´t work trough Wifi direct (it doesn´t have the beam option) So,nothing to do, just wait (a lot of smart phones are starting to use wifi direct, so, for sure soon they will launch a proper software
I just bought a KDL32W705C and it's a pretty good FullHD model - for the size you don't really need 4k - FullHD works fine if you are watching it from just 2-3 meters away. If you've got an Xperia phone or tablet, the Bravia set-up allows you to mirror what's on your screen, which is great because Android SmartTV models are typically quite expensive. I only ran into problems streaming 720 content - the audio and video tracks weren't in sync for movies I accessed online via the Russian social network Vkontakte unless I dropped the resolution to 480. Then again, I only have an ADSL modem so it could be my connection.
on which os does TV work and is there any processor in it?? because if we can play CZcams and movies directly so it must have a processor although not which is not fast enough. just for knowledge...

@automatikred Please follow the instruction of the video, after setup the connection (connecting your tablet to the wifi LAN generated by the Tv) just select any media file in your tablet (keep it pressing) select SHARE and choose AllShare. After that, Allshare software will be launched, select the TV and play. Automatically you will watch your media on the TV. Like a standard wifi LAN, after first connection, your tablet will keep the LAN name/password, so connection will be automatic

@automatikred After plug your UWA-BR100 usb dongle,and if you have the latest Tv software, wifi direct feature will appear automatically on the Tv menu. son cosas distintas, no has de conectarte a internet sino que has de generar una red para que se conecte el movil. No hay acceso a internet en ese momento, tna solo muestras videos almacenados en tu movil en tu televisor

After 10 or more videos and reading tv manual still cant work out how to get my laptop to show on tv through wifi. Tried every video out there. I tried to put in WPA into direct wireless that was showing on tv screen and it said can't connect. Tried putting in my security key nothing! Help anyone. Could get phone to cast easy! Pc can't, says it has miracast available when I did a dxdiag. Also comment on accented english when it comes to tech words such as dxdiag, in another video i watched by an indian dude , and the other word she said, which i didn't understand for the app being used, these are hard to understand even for someone who would be presenting in English as a first language. I find with tech videos you need to write what you are saying on any and all youtube vids!
