    I have been programming midi to control dmx for a year and, while it works, it’s really time intensive. I will check this out. Thanks

    I bought one for our band a few months ago and it has been a god send. It isn’t cheap but it has been WELL WORTH IT!! Nothing will replace a light tech BUT it will give you a great show hands free.

      Totally agree!

      I would like to see an example of a "great show" you have run with one of these.

      Dude seriously get a life. I used it this weekend for a municipal event and the site manager wouldn't shut up about how great the lights looked.

      @@CoverBandConfidential 20 years in the business and you figure that he would be a little more secure in his job. I have noticed that any Maestro ad, CZcams video, etc., are all these lighting guys pissing on trees marking territory like a dog.
      Hell I even said it doesn’t replace a good lighting tech, it just does the job-and quite well- for what I need.
      I can tell you this though, when we need a pro light guy it won’t be this ass hat.
      Any venue/show I have played that needed a produced light show also needed sound and a stage and was hired out.

      @@ledhed5717 20 years in the business means I can see the problem coming. I'm secure in my job, I don't have to worry about that. But I can't find a good lighting assistant to save my life. This is going to make it worse by taking away the ability for up and comers to start learning the ropes.
      Maybe the idea that there are tons of lighting professionals shitting all over this product should tell you something???

    Excellent review. Do you need the computer at shows, or only to program it before the gigs?

    • @CoverBandConfidential
      @CoverBandConfidential  Před měsícem +2

      Not necessary but probably worth looking at on your phone or tablet to make sure the audio signal is high enough

    can you maybe explain how you were able to hook up the akai, I am looking at getting something like this as I am a mobile DJ and my uplights and tubes all have built in wireless dmx

  • @redshift7music
    @redshift7music Před 25 dny

    Can you connect your lights wirelessly? Or, do you have to run DMX cables all over stage? I run wireless system now, and I can’t see any reason to lug so many cables, considering how many lights I have.

    hello 👋 considering this module uses a line in input, would you say it is less accurate than SoundSwitch, which uses the actual waveform of a song?

    • @CoverBandConfidential
      @CoverBandConfidential  Před 6 dny +1

      Potentially, but as I’ve not tested sound switch personally I can’t verify that to be the case. As we are feeding it a click track it picks up very quickly and locks in

    • @kendrickjarias
      @kendrickjarias Před 5 dny

      @@CoverBandConfidential okay thank you, think I’ll try it, currently have sound switch. It’s very frustrating configuring everything, will try the maestro.

    @chrisallen5855 Před měsícem +1

    Dude, this product is a waste of time and money. I have yet to see one video of maestro running lights that doesn't look like absolute garbage. Get yourself an actual lighting tech, and your end result (your live show) will be SOOOO much better. A real lighting professional can sync lights to your songs far better than any software, this is glorified sound active mode.
    Sound active mode is NOT your friend.

      Your lack of ability to understand what this does is not my issue

    • @chrisallen5855
      @chrisallen5855 Před měsícem +1

      As a professional lighting designer, I'm not the one who doesn't understand what it does my dude.
      Enjoy being laughed at when you want to hook that up to some house system at a venue.

    • @CoverBandConfidential
      @CoverBandConfidential  Před měsícem +1

      So you don’t like it because it means we don’t need an LD- got it.

    • @chrisallen5855
      @chrisallen5855 Před měsícem +1

      I mean, yes, for one. This type of thing is going to eliminate lots of gigs with smaller bands and venues where new LDs cut their teeth. It's actively taking away jobs in my industry and teaching people that garbage like this is acceptable.
      But it's also just, objectively bad. It looks awful, and it will never compare to what an actual human can do. I'm trying to do folks a favor and tell them they messed up and they should return it and get their money back. If you want to ignore the advice of somebody with 20 years experience, go ahead.
      Enjoy looking like a bunch of maroons.

    • @CoverBandConfidential
      @CoverBandConfidential  Před měsícem

      You clearly don’t understand.
      Yes, using it to control a venue or production company’s lights is not something you want to do. And of course it isn’t as good as an LD that knows the set and can control the show.
      But damn- this product is an absolute game changer for bands that don’t have LD’s and are typically required to bring their own lighting
      Nobody is coming for your job bro.
