That's what love about his character. He's lived a hard life, having to grow up very fast, not having the best guidance. Yet, he has a heart. You can tell by the sandwich comment, how he takes care of his grandma, how he looks out for Rue, etc. He's hood, gangsta and a hustler but has that soft, humane spot that balances him out and makes him likeable.

I get how Maddie feels. She doesn’t think she deserves a happy loving relationship because she’s never seen that before. She thinks all she can get out of relationships are toxicity and material things disguised as “love” that’s why she feels attached to Nate and can’t let him go
maddie has always been with nate a person who never had any care on how she personally felt all the time, and he's selfish most times and all the times tbh. so it gets to a point she needs to let go cus the whole mark on her neck scene was so frightening to herself and nate somewhat
in maddy's episode, she said she's aware that nate just want 'something to own', and she knows nate could give materials things to her, and i think nate likes that maddie is somewhat a strong personality among girls/boys in their school, i think he just loves the idea that he owns a strong personality like her, THEIR CIRCUMSTANCE FITS PERFECTLY but i dont think its LOVE or they rly love each other
that Kat scene was so intense and real. i’ve felt exactly that way and have had that same mental battle with myself. really, really well done

Kat's whole influencer bit was so on point and Barbie pinpoints the exact situation; its so dark yet its so funny bc I couldn't help but smile through her crisis like I'm not the one who's been living it in real life... How can a show be able to only get better??
I liked that scene too. It's almost kind of eerie how I find a piece of myself, either now or from the past, in all of these characters........well maybe not Nate 😆 They'll say something or have an experience that is just like something I've gone through. Plus, when they do the sum-ups after the episodes have finished, they verbalize many emotions that I've gone through in ways that I wasn't able to when they were happening to me in those moments. This show is like therapy for me.
That Kat scene with all of the "self help" models is probably my favorite from the show so far. Such a beautiful portrayel of the media today and how it's affects bigger ppl (or maybe even just me). Loved it, so beautifully made.

Miss Sydney is getting that Emmy. Her acting these first two episodes have been phenomenal. The closet scene was perfect for Maddie and her character, beautiful.

The struggle between fantasy and reality was so deep in this episode that is really like opening each character mind in dive deep into what they don't even want to admit to themselves.. it felt so invasive that some parts were hard to watch but it was also so liberating.. everyone is really killing it!!! Amazing acting from all fronts
Great sum-up!!! I just need everyone to have a one-on-one with Ali in that diner like he had with Rue. 😀 That diner episode took me to another place because his acting was too real. He would cut through all of their BS and get to the core of all of their emotional issues. Colman Domingo is an amazing actor. This was my first time seeing him on a show but he's been acting on Broadway and other shows for a long time. Anyway, bravo to him and how deeply realistic this show is.

I relate to Kat so much it's crazy😭. Self-hatred can easily consume your life and then turn into self-sabotage. Her being exposed to things at a younger age that now drive these fantasies is exactly what I go through and its a STRUGGLE.
Yes, it's a huge struggle for females of all ages honestly. I sure could've used this show when I was a teen because I definitely thought that I was the only one dealing with insecurities. Back then, I used to suppress my thoughts and feelings because people around me didn't have the depth to them that I needed, in order to feel like they could understand me. For instance, I would have needed someone like Ali (the diner episode with Rue) growing up to listen to me and understand where I was coming from. But since I didn't, I'm just now dealing with a lot of stuff from back then. This show is like therapy for me and so are the comment sections of the Euphoria threads. It's comforting to know that so many others have felt the same way.
I feel like Maddie won't do anything stupid with the tape. I think as the relationship between her and Jules envolves she will probably just give the tap to Jules so that her can do whatever she wants with that
I read the spoilers and something similar happens, you’ll be surprised on who gives the tape to Jules

in the beginning sam says “throughout the second episode there’s a reoccurring idea of desire. the difference between what the characters say they want versus what they actually want.” and while rue is explaining that nate is in love with cassie and is imagining a life with her we see all the flashes of jules

The depiction of Kat's loneliness and being misunderstoodwas golden. Spot on. The worst feeling of loneliness is being surrounded by many people is the worst but she was surrounded but physically alone. So many voices in our head what we think we want to hear between what we need to hear and then what we actually feel and how we see ourselves as worthless so caught up in the moment- perfection
