    Out of all the videos I’ve watched, on split wishbones, not one ever mentioned the alternative frame mounting, helping with turning radius. I’ve been contemplating my front suspension for awhile now, I’ve got the parts. Awesome amount of knowledge, thanks!!

    I had to stop watching the video and say You are the first person I have heard speak about the benefits of how the wishbone mounts are placed. You gave a very good explanation for how it was better.
    I can certainly appreciate the thought about turning radius, I bought a Mustang with wider than normal front rims which limits turning radius. There are occasions when I would enjoy more available turning radius.

    Really glad that you changed the name of this project! :) I was thinking earlier that it sure was deserving better. haha I enjoyed this episode a lot as I have them all. Brought back memories of doing the same thing building my AV8 roadster. Great job getting the SBC in already. That's a good choice I think. Oh, speaking of motors, my guess is the motor you are thinking about for your new deuce is an early Olds or Caddy. Probably not but that's what I'd do. haha Thanks Mike, looking forward to the next one!

    A drop axle does not change the location of the wishbone attachment point!
    It raises the kingpin spindle mounts

    • @ThisOldHotrod
      @ThisOldHotrod  Před 7 měsíci

      I never said it did. It does change the location of the mount when you have to split the wishbone to mount on the underside of the frame rails.

    • @ThisOldHotrod
      @ThisOldHotrod  Před rokem +1

      The axle is a stock Model A axle and wishbone.
      I like to use the A wishbones whenever possible.
      They’re shorter and work perfectly for a small hotrod.

    • @ThisOldHotrod
      @ThisOldHotrod  Před rokem +1

      I beveled the edge of the end of the tubing the tiniest bit. I left a 1/16 inch space around the bung / tube end also to weld them.
      Not to mention who said I smoothed them ?
      I never did , because I didn’t smooth them.
