  • This video is a demo of how to plot/graph data in a chart using LibreOffice Calc on a Linux VM. For the demo, I open a CSV file and plot three different algorithm's results on one chart. If your source file is a .csv, be sure to save your file as a .xls, .xlsx, or .ods file so your charts persist! CSV only supports comma-separated-values, not charts.

Thank you so much, you are the best. My lines weren't visually matching the Y axis values, just with your way to build it now it's working perfectly. TYSM, TYSM!

This video really came in handy when I had 10 minutes left on a test and suddenly had to start uploading charts to show my work. Thanks!

Thanks. I couldn't figure out at all how to do this at all from the menus. The video made it much simpler.

Simple and easy. I was always a bit confused by this simple task but a bit complicated UI :) ported from Excel...

Terrific video provided you already know how to make a chart. I especially like the sweeping and jumping mouse, so much more fun trying to follow whatever the author was trying to do. And please if you ever make an "instructional" video, test it out with another human before publishing it to the masses.

Excuse me, but how do you add margins to the line chart? I need to add empty space at the edges of the line itself.

Great video, thanks it helped me a lot. I am taking readings at fixed intervals during the day. For eg. 08:00, 14:00 and 20:00. Using your video I have successfully plotted the chart. For x axis I have used 08:00 ... and for y milliseconds the process took. Can we also add dates ?

Hi great video, have you any idea how to edit incorrect names, company info in office libre CSV file. I have CSV files with email addresses etc but not all contacts have written their correct names. Instead there are random numbers or incomplete names. Can anyone tell me how to sort out my file into clean lists with correct names? Thanks Jason.

how can you tell the X-Axis to spread data evenly? I need to do a graph based on time. My data points are not necessarily spaced identically (some are 15 minutes apart, some an hour apart), but my graph still keeps the same width between the 15 minutes gap and the 1-hour gap. I want my x axis to be an actual axis... Which completely defeats the purpose of the graph as the curve doesn't mean anything then...

Was trying to calculate weight and realized you can't put "lb" in with the weight values, numbers/decimals only (ex 150.3)

how about stating what you're clicking on in the menu and why? This was useless to someone who has NEVER done this before.

I have spent the last hour trying to find where someone explains how to create the date to insert - unsuccessfully. They ALL start where you do - inserting data that has already been created.

Type your dates or parse them from existing string (text) data?

@@GinaSprint thanks. what I am trying to find is how to create the data. Nothing exists. 😁 But I appreciate your response.

Full of useless info. If we are looking for a video about Libreoffice wouldn't you think we already know what it is and how to open it? And do we really need to know all the details of the data you are using?
