- I didn't expect to make this video but I ended up getting Layla while building pity on my alt account, so here we are... Please enjoy this short, comfy little building video to tide us over until 4.7! I'll be trying out Wuthering Waves and likely making a video on that as well, so if you're planning to try it out, be on the lookout for a video! I'm also super excited for Clorinde so I've been preparing for her on my main account, I can't wait to lose another 50/50...

For any of those wondering, yes. Elements do indeed cause shields of a specific element (excluding Geo shields) to diminsh more quickly.
An example would be a Pyro attack on a Cryo shield will cause it to do more damage to said shield. Though a Cryo attack on a Cryo shield will, of course, do the least amount of damage to a Cryo shield.
In conclusion, be careful when fighting a boss or enemy that has the punishing element to your current elemental shield.
So that's why zhongli's shield never breaks, by proxy of him being geo
@@PrismPupsickle Oh yes. Geo shields have better resistance to all elements. One of the perks for Geo characters.
You can do the same with Noelle as well, though her shield scales off of her defense.
this is not true, geo shields just have fully absorb all elements, while other shields just have that on their own element

@@randomlyKami its not, pyro doesnt do extra damage to cryo shields, all damage is the same for shields except for the one it absorbs
I believe the reason so little people use her is because of fontain’s release and making having a healer more valuable than a shielder.

I’m 3 weeks new into the game. Wanted to pull for Arlecchino cause im a mad head. Instead got c1 Arlecchino. And c6 Layla with that. So i feel like I HAVE to use her. Got her at lvl 50 now but have no clue what is good on her haha.

I finally got Layla C6 this banner phase, and now I have so much fun using her as a shield for Wanderer ❄️🌨️
I remember when people actually cared about her and talked about her usage. She can serve as a decent alternate shield to Zhongli if you don’t have him. I think a big part of why she hasn’t been acknowledged for a while is because Cryo as an element is kinda on the down low at the moment.

I use her as my main shield since she came out and I love her, shes very very good, her design is so pretty and does the job perfectly. I have her c6 with her shield talent crowned ❤❤ happy to see more people discover her potential 🤗

4:06 fun fact: that little shooting star that pops out in her normal attack sequence changes colour if layla has an elemental infusion on her normal attack

I actually built her last week. Using her on Father Xingqiu and benny team. Very useful indeed. Edit: If you have dockhand weapon use it. Shield will be more durable. And it holds well for abyss
Her C4 increase normal and charged attacks by how much hp she has when her shild is up, I honestly love using her for hu tao ❤
What a coincidence! I got a C0 Layla (a surprise from the Standard banner) and I've been curious about what she can do. I don't have a shielder at all (I play melee/berserker style) but I'm trying to build her too. Thanks for the insights here, it's given me an idea of what to expect.
I have my Layla c1 so I’m able to use her in co op with my friend. They usually use their Arlecchino, and because Arle can be healed by party members in battle a shield can be really beneficial and it makes it so they don’t have to constantly worry about dodging while fighting. Plus with her cryo application along with Arle leads to some really good melt numbers.
Layla has been my shielded since I was AR 7, I’m AR 50 now. With scara’s rerun I got her cons, I am very happy. I love her. She’s carried my teams without a healer
I have Layla at C4 (which is amazing) and I've only recently gotten her to level 90; she's got the 4pc Tenacity and 41,000 HP (thanks to HP goblet, cup and hat) and I gave her the Alley Flash rather than an HP sword, because it looks just so damn good on her.
Her shield can take a little under 14,000 damage, which is amazingly tanky. I just need to get her talents up to crownable, and she'll be my second cryo to be maxed out.
Layla has been an important part of surviving the mid game; and the only reason I haven't used her as much lately, is that I got Wriothesley (at C1) and have mained and crowned him, and he doesn't need the shield (or cryo resonance).
Funny I found this since I’m currently switching between Nilou bloom and hyper Xianyun with her as shielder (along Faruzan and Sara for friendship points) if you’re unaware on left of waypoint there’s a dendro flower that let you swing towards a back door for the boss which is much faster you just need dendro character to activate it.
wait but isnt nilou bloom specifically dependent on only dendro and hydro? unless youre playing normal bloom just with nilou?

I've been using Layla since she released. I love everything about her she's so relatable and generally a good character. A shame she doesn't get much recognition, especially considering how strong her shield is.
I actually had been meaning to build her as I got her c6 when she came out (cause she's cute) I got her to lvl 50 and then I started building other sumeru characters and then fontaine characters but I finally manged to build her for my kaeya
i used to have diona and noelle as my shielder but when she came she literally took the spotlight, she became my Arlecchino's best support
i've been a layla truther since day 1 so i'm glad people are finally appreciating her
I remember I got Layla from the event… it was even before I has ever pulled on any limited banner. Then I fell in love with Wanderer‘s playstyle and since then Layla has been on my team (got her C4 yesterday)

I'm sure many players would complain about a craftable or event HP main stat sword since most sword wielders want different stats. I, myself, would not mind. There could be more sword characters in the future that want/need HP.

@@meda4385 No no, I am aware on what stat most shield scale off of. I said most players wouldn't want an HP sword, mainly due to the lack of sword characters that would be able to use them to full capacity.
Nilou and Layla are basically the only swordies that will appreciate HP

I use Layla with my Wanderer team since my crit rate rolls for him weren't as generous as I'd like so I enjoy the free 15 crit rate from Layla's cryo application along with the strong shield.

specifically pulled for her and am not looking back, easy to build and with 4 piece tenacity, is able to tank through so many of the game. So underatted
I agree with you , I had her and is in the process of building her , definitely one of the best in Aesthetic IMHO and I think most of us can relay to her , being over worked and deprive of a good sleep always ... LOL

Oh I recently got Layla as well and I was thinking on building her but I was told she's not good... Which I found odd because I kind of loved her from the start hahaha I'll build her up as my main shield ❤️
I randomly pulled her on the standard banner on my 2nd account. I already had Eula when I was rerolling accounts during the Chronicled Wish and I had farmed the Pale Flame domain for her. Building her was incredibly easy because I already have the Tenacity artifacts and her synergy with Eula is pretty nice.
as someone who doesnt have (and doesnt want to have) zhongli but mains arlecchino, shes an absolute life saver. i started building her way before we knew anything about arles kit (i think i started at the end of sumeru/beginning of fontaine) simply because i found her cute. i didnt think i was actually going to use her as i had kokomi, kuki and qiqi to keep me alive but i was pleasantly surprised after learning that father cant get healed in combat and is an on field auto attacker. i adore her even more now

I very rarely take her in Abyss but she's been glued to my overworld teams since she released.
Layla/Kazuha/Yelan/Yoimya was so perfect for Chenyu and is amazing if we ever need to farm that Cat boss again.

layla has been my main shielder on my account bc i don’t have zhongli. even if i had him, the teams i run now just feel so natural with her there that i probably wouldn’t want to replace her. i lob the sleepy scholar 💙
I use her in basically every team, only team she isn’t in is ayakas but that’s because ayaka has kokomi.
Let me just say one thing. Her shield is INSANE, even against bosses in floor 12 it can take hit after hit, it will only break once its duration is over.

She replaced Diona on my Ganyu team back when she first came out and she's a go to when I wanna be a bit lazy in co op (c6 and I think she is funny). I also somehow got an r4 of dockhands assistant for her. Lawachurls are good for shield testing.

Man Layla is such a beautiful character and her shield and application is decent but I just wished her Passives and Constellations focused more on her utility rather than her damage. Like her C6 could make it so her C4 buff just lasted while her shield is up and she could be the charge attack buffer we need unu

I really loved Layla in the story, but unfortunately I already have a built Zhongli and C6 Diona, and resources are very scarce in the game. Also I wasn't lucky enough to get Layla past C1 (and one of the two copies was from the summer event 😓) even though I pulled on banners where she was featured 😿.
Did a single ten pull on Baizhu’s banner in hopes of a 50/50 win, lost the 50/50 to Diluc and now I have to save my guaranteed for next patch but I also got my final Layla constellation in that pull. Crazy part is I was NOT expecting to get a five star in a single 10 pull I was at 0 pity after getting Arlecchino and had 30 more wishes saved.

I use layla all the time! She and Arlecchino are always paired up. My shield lasts a whole fight or until her skill has done a complete cooldown! She has 100% up time and i am hoping to C6 her!

layla has a best in slot team with wanderer, but shes also amazing with gaming or diluc in melt.
shes good with hutao and can sometimes make her melt in her double hydro teams.
shes a decent cryo battery/buffer for eula and ayaka, though ayaka would just prefer rosaria.
havent seen her used with arle yet, but id imagine itd be good and allow her to do a melt focused team

i have a fully maxed out zhongli but i still prefer to use layla over him, her shield is really strong and has 100% uptime and shes just overall a lot cuter lmao, as a wanderer main i like to use her in a scara freeze team
She carries like 3 of my teams because if she wasn't there it'd be a lot more difficult. (Plus I have no Zhongli and don't care to get him.)
A well invested Layla in C1, 40k hp and skill talent at lv9 can easily tank around 15k dmg, you could say she is the f2p Zhongli.
