Patty Mills couldn't convince him to play with us after spending an NBA season together... End of story. NEXT!!!
I'm sure you have a lot of insight into the situation
@@pasifikbwoy7278All Ben Simmons did last season was dribble hand offs. He's currently not the same Ben Simmons we all want to see. He can't hang with the Boomers right now based on his performance.
We do need him because we want our best players on the team but he needs to fit in and I’m sure he will when the time is right.
Yeah but I don't think he's going to be as good as he could be. I don't think the mental toughness is there. Delly just got cut FFS. That's how stacked the team is these days
@@Coopsoldman we need bigs not guards. Simmons is 6’10 elite defender. No one else like him in Oz.
He’s absolutely in our starting 5
@@damienchan1786 lachlan olbrich is quite literally him..with a much better 3 shot and attitude, granted he hasn't been tested against elite comp yet...but if he dominates the upcoming nbl season , then nba teams will start to take notice..
@@peternut358 No chance in hell. What position does he play? And don't say basketball is position less nowadays. You still need to be able (or willing) to sink a damn jump shot.
We may not need him right now but it would be bloody fantastic if he was with us.
Hopefully primed for the olympics
He obviously has the talent if he gets his head right, but I seriously doubt he has the desire to play for Australia. And honestly, Giddey is a better point guard for us in the long run. Simmons would probably have to play a point forward role.
That’s a nice way of saying we’re not going to bother chasing you if you can’t be bothered putting any effort in.
playing for the boomers could help Ben just as much as he would help the boomers.
forget about the money and the fame and the critics around the NBA for a minute and get back to playing for the love of the game with your countrymen has always been the hope
It’d be great if Ben played, but tbh, I’m not holding my breath
He wouldn't even make the team at this point so the discussion is pointless
Listening to a coach talking with so much respect and connection to a player is absolutely amazing. But I need to agree with Brian, Ben Simmons carry so much pressure and hate on his back, that it could affect the national team. It is better to avoid Ben Simmons for now (sic!), if you want to have healthy relationship on your team.
We don't necessarily NEED him, but we sure could USE him.
Well put
of course we could use ben. he would be a tremendous addition to the team, especially if he regains his form. but if his heart is not in it then we should not have to chase him. he needs to want to be a part of this. if he never plays for the boomers again thats fine, the team is doing fantastic even without him - we've got our best squad ever and more and more coming through, but would he make us even better? OF COURSE!
Love to see him play, Brian would be a great help as coach.
All G with Giddey and Thybulle. Get Tyrese Proctor in ASAP + Dyson Daniels and Dante
I’m not sure if Ben would fit. He’s a fantastic talent but it takes more than that to represent your country with pride. Would welcome him to a Boomers camp but he would need to prove more than just his skill to make the team
agreed
there's a reason he was referred to as the "Yank" when he was invited to Boomer's camps when he was underage
We dont need him !! Wake tf up ! We have Giddey and Matisse is just as good on defense .
The reason why we all like Ben Simmons is cuz he’s a superstar and that he’s Australian but yeah we don’t need him
If the real Simmons ever turns up he is our best player
thybulle is nowhere near as good as ben in anything lol, c'mon now...moreover ben can play small ball center and thybulle obv can't...
@@Mimihuynh01No one in Australia likes Ben Simmons 😂
Thybulle is underrated ofc he can’t score but bro his defence is pre good
Ben has a mental resilience deficiency. His game is good (except 3pt shooting) but upstairs is a mess. Australian team has a lot of good players, he could contribute but maybe limited minutes because he hasn't been training with their team. Team is more than 1person.
Goorj is a good guy. I would expect he would like if Simmons' talent was there, but I expect he's being too polite and realizes that Ben is mentally fragile and not to be relied upon. Ben will never have a significant role for this reason, so Ben will choose to never play for the Boomers again.
Let's focus on players who have mental strength and resilience and pride to play for their country. Someone like Matisse is 10 times more a true Boomer than Simmons will ever be.
We need Mitch Creek...
incorrect....we have a better PG in Giddey (who can actually shoot)
Australia would become a lesser team with Simmons playing....FIBA rules allow zone defence & that is where he will struggle
I dunno. I think he's too soft. The last few years have showed a side I don't think we knew about.
He’s not soft he just needs to play aggressive all the time and stop being such a team player and be a Dog
@@peternut358 you don't think it's soft to refuse to play cause the coach said he doesn't know if he can be championship Point Guard? Wouldn't you go out the next year and prove everyone wrong???
@@peternut358Haha, you just described exactly how he is soft
He buggered his back and had a mental episode. He could get right for the olympics hopefully.
He’d play for 30 mil
The guy if healthy and fully strong mentally in every way is a former NBA ALL STAR. No Aussie has even come close to that in history! Yes ,high chance he doesn't get back to that, but bloody hell we're stupid if we don't wish for that to come back, let alone play for our country.
Olympics?
Ben who?
My fellow Aussies gotta stop dreaming about Ben, he's done nothing for 2 yrs in the NBA and nothing in 10 yrs for Aus nor does he care.
Why bother chasing the guy? We already have a 6'8 point guard with brilliant passing in Giddey. Where does Simmons fit in - power forward? He has zero post moves, poor touch around the rim unless he's dunking, refuses to step out and take a jump shot (forget 3 pointers) and would be forever getting sent to the foul line where he's historically bad. His defense alone doesn't justify having to mold your team around his deficiencies (which he refuses to improve upon anyway!). Goorjian conceded that he spat the dummy when he was left out of the boomers as a high schooler - the dude always gave the impression of a spoilt brat who expects everyone to kiss his backside. Can we show a little self respect, concentrate on the guys who actually want to play for their country and move on already?
This interviewer is really really bad.
He's not an asset ....he's mentally weak and very selfish ,,,,,people put him on a pedestal he doesn't deserve
