  • Please enjoy the spectacular music and charming Victorian homes of Ocean Grove, NJ. Ocean Grove is an unincorporated community located within Neptune Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey and located on the Atlantic Ocean's Jersey Shore. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Ocean Grove is noted for its abundant examples of Victorian architecture and the Great Auditorium, acclaimed as the state’s most wondrous wooden structure. Ocean Grove was founded in 1869 as an outgrowth of the camp meeting movement in the United States, when a group of Methodist clergymen formed the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association to develop and operate a summer camp meeting site on the New Jersey seashore. The community's land is still owned by the camp meeting association and leased to individual homeowners and businesses. Ocean Grove remains the longest-active camp meeting site in the United States.

My mother played the three keyboard pipe organ for the church, operated the town switchboard, and played on the girl’s basketball team in the 1920s-30s. She did all this even before graduating from high school. She raised 7 of us, none having musical talent nor athletic ability. She made sure we mastered country cooking. Thanks for the musical treat.

Lift your voices in whatever style of music you enjoy. The montage of the auditorium, beach and Victorian homes were so enjoyable. Thank you, Scott.

I was doing genealogical research and read about the camp meetings the Methodists used to have here in the Northern Neck. . They were actual camps with cabins, they’d stay a week and have revival. There was a joke too about all the babies born 9 months after camp meeting. 😊. Enjoyed this very much thanks!

Scott, beautifully done. Ocean Grove is truly a magical place. I live in Monmouth County and we go to Ocean Grove occasionally to walk around tent city, they are adorable and all so different. It has a charming Main Street, very quaint. I remember as a child on Sunday's they would chain the road going in and out of town. No cars were allowed on Sunday to operate in town.I believe that changed in the 60's. It is also a dry town and that has not changed.
