Im going to pin this comment since I’m getting this same question over and over again. 1) Please watch the intro where I literally say this trip was R&R for me. R&R stands for rest and relaxation. September is the busy season for me at work so I took this time to mentally prepare. 2) Also, I say in the intro you won’t see everything as I don’t have a camera glued to my hand 24/7. So commenting “all I saw is you on the balcony” is a valid statement because Yes that is all YOU saw. If this was the entire trip the video would be 5 days long. 3) Call me a weirdo but I still move like COVID is still a thing.

An introverts best friend: Earbuds. I went solo on Carnival in 2021, an amazing pandemic deal. I couldn't pass it up and hubby couldn't get off work. Between my books, quizzes, shows, and games, I was never bored. Plus, when I went into the public spaces, nobody bothers you when they see you have earbuds in. Sometimes, they wouldn't even be on, and I can hear everything they are saying but would ignore them anyway. Needing solo time isn't a bad thing. There is something wrong with the people who can't be alone with themselves for even a minute.

I am 74 years old and I enjoyed your content. I was happy to see you enjoying yourself by yourself. I am so proud of you. I have traveled solo on 11 cruises, 10 on Carnival and 1 on Norwegian. And I have traveled solo to the Motherland 3 times and this last solo to Africa I rented a luxury apartment for 7 months. You experience true freedom when you solo travel. And learn so much about yourself. I choose to go with Carnival due to their loyalty tiers perks.
I am at gold tier. My cruises are getting cheaper and cheaper the more cruises I go on. I love Carnival's cove balconies. Yes I pay double. But by being a VIFP (gold) member, I get reduced prices and other appreciated perks. Additionally, Carnival feels like 'home' to me. I like the idea you can be private among 4 or 5 thousand people. I am working on diamond and on to platinum where you are offered practically free cruises on Carnival.

I love the dialogue around solo travel and dining. There are people who are uncomfortable traveling alone, be it fear, insecurity or due to financial concerns. It’s unfortunate that some onlookers impose on your experience, including the wait staff while dining! I appreciate you sharing in a way that appeases YOU! Cause that’s all that matters 💕🌸 thank you!

Hello Lia... I am a Solo traveler. I have travelled on Carnival (back in the day), Royal Caribbean ( a couple of times), and Norwegian (twice). I enjoy traveling Solo because I beat at my own tune. I don't stay in my cabin but to sleep at night after an exhausting day. The key to doing Solo cruising is staying out of your cabin.
Carnival has more children and usually cheaper (no pun intended... just the truth). After traveling on Royal Caribbean, I never went back to Carnival. The food maybe the same on all of the Cruise lines but I usually eat in the Dining room. I may grab something from the Buffet if I see something I like but usually, I am an Anytime Diner. Norwegian has Specialty Restaurants at which the other Cruise lines doesn't have so I guess that is there selling point.
The shows is probably more Adults driven on Royal Caribbean which I try to attend as much as possible. Norwegian shows are like Circus Olé (however you spell it). There is 1 or 2 big shows and it runs a couple time during the cruise (I'm not a fan for their entertainment).
As for meeting people, I sit alone at my table but usually the people on either side of me wants to talk. They are amazed and envious of Solo travelers. A lot of husbands are glad their wives have someone else to talk to so they can eat lol. I meet people as I am walking throughout the ship and on excursions. I can't remember names to save my life, but my name be echoing through the ship and all I can say is... "Oh Hey".
I prefer as few children on a cruise as possible. I am older (50+ with grown children and single parent) and want some real peace when I want it while sitting on the deck in a lounge chair. The Dining room worker normally befriend me because I am a Solo.

Love what you said about RC, I’m a Diamond on RC went on Carnival 1 time too many for me, I didn’t like it, but it could have been the ship I was on lol but I’m loyal to Royal 🤷🏾♂️

Yes! Do it… only downside to solo travel- we’re paying 150% or more for the cabin. NCL has a solo class but super small and more expensive than the 150 percent with Carnival- whatever you decide- make it all about YOU!

Sis HARD SAME on the solo travel aspect. There is some thing in our society that assumes extroverts are the norm. When I travel alone, it’s because I want to, and enjoy. I am not lonely, or looking for people.

Lia, Your solo trips are 100% healthy. When dealing with “life”, and taking care of and being available for our families, friends, maybe even clients, career, financial decisions, eduction, etc…we have got to take the time to take care of ourselves. Glad you got your R&R. Btw, I just got back last night from an all inclusive resort trip and it was almost too HOT🥵 to enjoy……thank God for a/c inside the rooms!

For me I gravitate to RC because like you said it's less kids and they tend to be older. To me it was more organized and laid back...IMO Carnival is definitely a party cruise line and more geared towards younger people. I've been on both and like them both for different reasons but prefer RC. Glad you enjoyed your trip!

@@JAMICAINMECRAZY Yess I agree with everyone I did my first solo cruise a few years ago with Norwegian loved it! Their solo cabins are nice and modern. Also they have lots of activities for solo cruisers. Going on another solo in a few months with Carnival.
I love traveling solo. I went to Japan by myself and people thought I was crazy. Fast forward 4 years later and I'm going on my very first cruise and yes I'm going by myself.
I am such an extrovert, I never thought I would have any fun doing something like a cruise by myself, but I think I need to try it. Everybody always tells me you’ll start out by yourself but you won’t end up by yourself, and they’re probably right, but I have missed too many opportunities waiting for other people to get their acts together . . . . . 🎉I’m DOIN’ it!!!!!!!

I so appreciate you keeping it real about being a solo traveler. I took my first solo trip to Playa del Carmen and loved it! I am a teacher and like you I talk enough daily and am around enough people and kids daily for 10 months! We solo travelers are not lonely...we are enjoying our me time. I am low key planning another solo trip for Oct. I am loving your vlogs and your energy! I agree with you 100% that cruising solo should not be your first solo trip experience. I’ve recently begun traveling solo. This past June I visited France and Italy on my own. Like you, I was not looking to make friends or socialize. Many of my friends and relatives tried to recommend groups, etc to keep me from being lonely, lol. I was just fulfilling a lifelong desire to see another part of our beautiful world. It was so amazing, that I have begun considering a solo Mediterranean cruise. That’s what attracted me to your vlogs. You’ve given me lots of things to consider.

I've been with you for a loooong time. You have grown so much. I am so proud of everything you are doing. I think the only difference between Royal Caribbean and Carnaval is Royal Caribbean is a more laid-back, older people crowd. I think Carnaval is more lively. Being older, I prefer Royal Caribbean. But I think maybe singles, people maybe 45-up, and people with children would prefer Carnaval. I'm happy that you were able to get some rest and stress relief. As far as solo cruise travel...I think all the Liners encourage people to interact with people who are alone. We were always encouraged to engage others who were alone. Thanks for sharing! Great Vlog. We flew down to Florida and boarded the Carnival Mardi Gras 3 weeks ago and had an amazing time. We’ve gone on 4 different Carnival ships and enjoyed all of them but the new Mardi Gras is top notch (even during the Pandemic). They had soooooo many activities, more than you could attend. The comedy shows were awesome, as well as the line-dancing on the Lido deck, the game rooms, the roller coaster on top of the ship, the water slides, Karaoke, the movie nights & the food was great. So many food options (some had additional fees). Mardi Gras was hype and over 6800 passengers on the ship (huge ship). I traveled with my husband and 2 daughters (16& 20) and we had balcony rooms as well (connecting rooms). The easy accessible fresh air is everything. We enjoyed every aspect on and off the ship and I feel you would have really enjoyed it as a solo traveler as well. They had single mixers & so many events for every type of traveler. I could never go solo, but I enjoyed watching you take that journey. Be safe and great content! I’m glad you did the comparison! BTW-I started crochet because of you. I’ve recently gone to sew-ins, that I never did before and I’m enjoying those as well.

Hi Lia, this video has DEF influenced me to go on a solo cruise. Your stance on solo cruising has me nodding my head like crazy in agreement! I'm very introverted so i def understand the need to just vibe with yourself especially to relax and recharge (R & R). I just wish folks would not treat it as "aww poor thing. She's lonely and by herself." lol Like you said "I'm guuuuuuuuuuud! I am allllllright!" Being alone and lonely are two very different things. Hi! I loved your vlog. I have cruised with Carnival since 1988 after receiving a nursing scholarship. I used to watch the Love Boat and I looked for Issac in every cruise ♥️. I traveled with my then husband, then after divorcing, I stopped cruising. I promised to take my daughters and to gain my footing into cruising again. This year… I took my first solo cruise and it was so freeing. I didn’t have the need to coordinate or negotiate activities with others. Omg it was so amazing! Of course the waitstaff mentioned “ “ oh you’re alone, I always smiled and said, no I’m never alone- I’m the happiest girl on the ship because I get to enjoy everyone’s company” Many commented on not being able to go solo, but the majority gave a big thumbs up to support “ traveling your way on your terms”. I have traveled with on the girls trips which were amazing as well as international trips. Traveling internationally as a solo is much more common than in the US. It’s so beautiful that you’re traveling now vs getting older… enjoy the world… and keep your beautiful energy flowing ❤️.
P S the Fun ship remains the fun ship pre- and post Covid. I enjoyed the specialty dining and love some Guy’s burgers, Fahrenheit steak house, late night pizza and the best seafood and ice cream. I enjoyed watching movies on deck, dancing, shopping on the Panorama, Radiance and Horizon this year!

Great vlog Lia! I, too, have heard about the differences between Royal Caribbean and Carnival, but have only been on Royal Caribbean so I can’t really compare. It does sound like some things have changed since the pandemic though. Still glad that you had a great time! I would love to do some solo traveling (every mama’s dream), but the way life is lifing (6 year old and a 3 month old) it may be a while. I’m living vicariously through you 🛳🌊🏖

Great video - your thoughts about traveling solo are on point. I find it’s people that can’t be alone that think I’m lonely - bit of projection. I LOVE Mexico and have been all over Europe solo - except for a couple friends, I end up wanting to strangle who I’m traveling with - especially if it’s family 😆. Looking forward to more videos.

That is how introvert I am, only I don’t have the courage to travel by myself nor the money, but I have seen your solo travel blogs and it inspire me, I have an aunt who also travels by herself she also inspires me, I know one day I will get the courage to do it and know I will love it. I have done multiple solo cruises on Carnival but not any other line, so no basis for comparison. I love my Carnival cruises and they serve my purposes. Sometimes I’m totally chill and not really wanting to socialize. Sometimes I’m super outgoing, meeting people and doing group activities. I agree with you in that I love the main dining room for breakfast/brunch and dinner and I really enjoy the Carnival cruise directors. I’ll likely try a Royal or Norwegian cruise in the future, if nothing else but to try different ports.

I have cruised solo on 3 different lines and by far, Carnival was more like home. They took great care of you. I invite you to try Carnival as a solo traveler. They understand what you need. Plus their anytime dining option is perfect for sailing solo. You can dine alone or request seating at a larger table with others. This was a great vlog and I look forward to seeing more of your content.
I'm so glad I watched your video. We've been cruising Carnival for years. We just got off the Carnival Liberty. I respect you so much for being able to take a cruise alone. Do you, more people more problems. I luv main dining too. I always thought Royal Caribbean was top notch bc the way people talked about them.
I completely agree about solo traveling on a cruise. I also blogged my experience on Carnival Cruise here on CZcams. I love traveling on my own. You best explained it when you said people and staff made it feel awkward. I prefer solo travel to the destination rather than cruises. Great video!!!!
