  • As well as documenting the physical infrastructure and basic link connectivity, 515support also needs technicians to be familiar with the standard protocols running on customer networks. For the SOHO network, you need to verify that services such as DHCP and DNS are running as expected. You also need to be aware of the risks that can arise from using unsecure protocols, especially on a home network, where there may be untrusted devices with the ability to snoop on unencrypted communications.
    This activity is designed to test your understanding of and ability to apply content examples in the following CompTIA A+ Core 1 objectives:
    2.1 Compare and contrast Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports, protocols, and their purposes.
    2.6 Compare and contrast common network configuration concepts.
