Her lack of tact reminds me of my Vietnamese grandmother. Also coincidently Nguyen is also my grandma's vietnamese name before she changed it to Judy.
Nguyen is arguably one of the most common surnames in Vietnam. For whatever reasons
Nguyen-Nguyen belongs with Mr. Holtenwasser. Both have a horrible past, are the sweetest with dead spouses.
Only difference, Mr. Holtenwasser didn't kill his wife

This show has both its funny highs and its depressing lows. Its seriously one of the best prestige animated series from the last 10 years, The core family and their odd assortment of neighbors are the reason this show resonated with me and others.
At least Sue still visits her😂

Nguyen-Nguyen's pretty cute, I'll admit that. If I lost that bet on that sporting event and had to cook that following night, I'd have been happy to. I am a pretty good cook and not a sore loser like Chet.

Just how it was at the time. You would be shocked at how much abuse went on during the 70s not to mention chet was an asshole in the war to begin with and forced her into the states. If I remember right he's the one that burned her whole village to the ground to begin with.
