    May 2024. I bought a VW Jetta Base. OTD $24,600
    Mine is Automatic Transmission. It has the opinions I need. This Jetta in the USA, has been on the market for nearly 40 years or longer. That tells me it's dependable and people are still buying them.

    I just purchased the Jetta sport 3 wks ago for my wife. She loves it. Quite roomy for a compact car and she loves the handling and general ride of the car itself.

      It's not a compact car anymore. I believe it is actually classified as midsize now. It is midsize sedan standard. It's nearly the exact same dimensions as my 2019 Legacy was. I just got a 2024 Jetta S manual a few days ago... it's barely smaller than my Impreza was. Barely.

    how funny its a first car or an eco car for American standard but for europe and the whole world its a mid size family car (moving toward the large even ) that will serve a whole family of 4 with a decent comfort and space and amazing performance for euro roads for at least 10 years

      @mohamedsoliman5185 I agree. I live in the U.S.and many single people who don't need a big SUV will still buy one and spend $40,000. I'm in my seventies, and some of my neighbors (who never go anywhere) own models like the Honda Pilot or Toyota Sequoia.

    • @MetaversalSouljah
      @MetaversalSouljah Před měsícem +1

      It's def midsize. I just got into one from a 2019 Subaru Legacy and it's nearly the same dimensions if you look it up. Trunk is def smaller than the Impreza I had though.
      But this car is classified as midsize even by American standards I think. This generation of Jetta has always been that. People only think compact bc of previous generations. The new Civic has also done the same and moved up to midsize for all intents and purposes.

      While European cars are on the smaller side, note that the European Jettas and Passats are a level up from the US versions. The latest Passat competes against the BMW 5 series and the Mercedes E class

    • @MetaversalSouljah
      @MetaversalSouljah Před měsícem

      @@VSV659 I don't even think they have Passat in USA anymore. There's a crossover utility vehicle based off the Jetta, the Taos, which took its place. Americans are obsessed with CUVs that they think are SUVs.

    The features in this car are quite special for its price. Jetta Sport sits between the entry-level S trim and SE trim.
    during the pandemic these were only $21k new. still a good deal.
    "Exterior upgrades include a black-accented headliner, mirror caps, grille, and window trim. The interior adds sport seats in the front and an armrest in the rear. As for performance, the Jetta Sport is upgraded with the XDS differential. It also has 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires."

    I used to have a 2019 Jetta S manual. The MPG was fantastic, I think I was hitting 45-48mpg in highway driving. I drove from Chicago to Nashville at one point with a full tank of gas, I got to Nash with 1/4 left on my tank. I miss that car as my daily driver, looking for one right now!

    • @MetaversalSouljah

      I got 38.8mpg combined city/hwy the other day on 45mi. It's almost the same fuel economy as a hybrid if you know how to control a manual transmission like a pro.

    I've been car shopping for a few weeks. It's nice to watch a video about the base trim of a car. I wish the SE trim had cloth seats, however. I don't like leatherette. For the price, I think the Jetta S is the way to go, although the SEL is tempting.

    • @ahsanmalik1013
      @ahsanmalik1013 Před 8 měsíci +4

      Mine has been excellent. If you maintain the car, it will treat you well. Motor is reliable and transmission is Toyota [Aisin 8 speed]. And build quality is top notch from Mexico who has been building Volkswagen for the long time now. They are better than American buildup quality. American buildup scares me the most. Luckily Atlas which is American build has been reliable too. VW family! 👍

      @@Brian_Eugene_Lee Try to avoid TDI. For something ever since diesel ban, they install something to meet emission requirements which in returns undermines the reliability of the diesel on the top DF fuel.
      Diesel was reliable but thanks to emission regulation, you are better off with 1.4 or 1.5 tsi which are proven motor and fuel efficient.

      Elantras are the worst in terms of long term reliability. Uncle has a 2019 Elantra with 78k miles and he already had to get his engine replaced due to oil pump failure.

    • @housepianist
      @housepianist Před měsícem

      @@eriksotelo3 that’s probably an isolated case so that shouldn’t dictate Elantras today. And you also have to consider that Elantras have gotten much better over time. You can make the same case for VW or Nissan. They certainly had their issues back in 2019 but today, they’re much better in terms of reliability.

    • @eriksotelo3
      @eriksotelo3 Před měsícem +1

      @@housepianist yeah you have a point but considering I own a 2019 Jetta and it’s already got 139k miles with absolutely zero issues, I’d say VW is a better bet in terms of reliability. Only thing I’ve done is stay up to date with oil changes. I’d say Nissan makes very reliable engines they’ve only faced issues with their transmissions but their current ones seem to be much more reliable. I guess it’s just a matter of perspective.
