    This is between G2 and Ab2 on a piano. A male baritone/light bass can usually sing a bit lower than this. I guess that very few females would sing this low, but maybe some have harmonics that go this low. I understand that it's a popular crossover point for a lot of studio & PA speaker systems that have subwoofers, and this is why I came to check it out.

    • @Zoco101
      @Zoco101 Před 2 lety +3

      @@bac0ntoast :) I finally settled on 90Hz for my studio setup with piano. Logically my sub is still affecting more of the piano's lower half than just "90Hz" down, due to harmonics. Only now can I hear what I was missing.
      A sub is even better for upright bass patches on my digital piano. They are beginning to sound good and (more importantly) audible and even feelable in the mix on my gigs. When you play jazz, you must not lose track of the bassline.
      Anyway, thanks for the upload of 100Hz.

    what causes the clicking sound as the video is (un)paused or volume is changed?

    • @msmith2603
      @msmith2603 Před 5 lety +119

      It's a bit complicated to explain, but I'll try my best to keep this reasonably simple by not going into too much detail:
      1. Audio (aka noise) is just a bunch of waves traveling through the air.
      2. This video is a smooth, 100 Hertz, sine wave. Quite pleasant to the ears.
      3. Pausing the video abruptly cuts of the wave (wherever it is).
      Now here's the fun thing: this wave represents the movement your loudspeaker is making.
      4. Your loudspeaker might just have been in the middle of that wave (so extended inward or outward by quite a bit).
      5. Suddenly... it's "being told to move back" by the amplifier.
      6. The speaker immediately snaps back to the default position. This sudden snap is what you can hear.
      The same goes for resuming the video. It will essentially tell your speaker to suddenly snap to the position where you left off before pausing the video.
      There's many ways to combat this:
      - Some audio cards have hardware mechanics built in to prevent this (this problem has existed for more than century). This is the expensive solution since it requires additional electronics (like the MAX9890).
      - Modern audio drivers can detect very sudden spikes and suppress them. I doubt it would be able to completely remove the spike though.
      - The CZcams player itself could for a short time (a couple milliseconds) ramp down (or up) the volume when pausing/resuming playback. This is barely noticeable for humans.
      I believe there might be more variables at play here. But that would probably go way beyond the scope of this explanation.

      It happens because you’re cutting the sine wave before it completes a cycle (or some shit like that). When you make a sub bass on a synthesizer which are typically made from a sine wave, you have to adjust your ADSR so that weird click doesn’t happen.
