    I love how Ugly sonic doesn’t hold ill will towards fans for essential “canceling” him from a potential film franchise and a break in his career. Hell he’s even attending a fan convention. I like to imagine “New” sonic gave him a pep talk and to not let that get in the way from making it. True professionalism right there!

    I saw Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers on Disney+ yesterday and it literally feels like a loose sequel to "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" with Roger Rabbit making a cameo. In a way you are eliminating cartoons by altering their look instead of eliminating them like Christopher Lloyd did in the original film. Peter Pan's story felt like throwing shade to the late Bobby Driscoll who is the original actor that provided the performance capture and likeness for the 1950's Peter Pan film. Driscoll's career went downhill after Peter Pan which was very sad and became even worst for him. His untimely death at 31 years of age says gone too soon and had so much to offer. At the same time you get the in-jokes and making fun of Hollywood, voice casting, addictions, sequels/reboots, etc. There is a point to every single thing they do and most of it is funny as hell and very satirical.

    As someone who grew up on Rescue Rangers and that whole Disney afternoon, I absolutely LOVED this movie. Watched it twice already. I've watched the Easter egg break downs, and I'm sure dozens were still missed. And as Roger Rabbit is a personal favorite of mine this is the perfect companion piece. Always love seeing Roger. I feel like this was more for my generation than kids.

  • @catbowserfantasytherapist3132

    One of my favorite cameos in this movie is a voice-only one: at the very beginning when Chip and Dale get the call asking if they want their own show? That's Tad Stones, one of the key producers behind Rescue Rangers (in addition to being a writer for it). He'd also go on to do Darkwing Duck. Thought that was an awesome addition.

    This was a charming surprise. I watched a lot of the Disney Afternoon in the younger days and revisiting these characters was lot of fun. Most of all, this was nostalgia done right unlike the most recent Space Jam reboot. I personally hope they don't make a sequel to this because it was a unique experience (like you said since Roger Rabbit way back in the 80's), and there are more Disney Afternoon properties to exploit. My vote would be Darkwing Duck or Gargoyles.

    I feel like there's gonna be two camps:
    the general audience who LOVES THE CAMEOS. Plot what plot the cameos were GREAT this is THE successor to Who Framed Roger Rabbit we NEEDED.
    And then the film/animation buffs who are either weirded out by the animation of CG cel shading, the fact that Peter's backstory is the same as his dead VA (it's actually kinda sad), and peeved there's no actual story to this film.
    There's no in between.

I not only hope they make a sequel for this, but also some spinoffs with characters outside of Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers as well. Like maybe the Dark Wing Duck that they teased at the end. Or maybe show us what has happened to the Ducktales crew since the same timeframe as C&DRR.

    ...and then I saw South Park's Randy Marsh in there... jesus.

  • @scrub456
    @scrub456 Před 2 lety +1

    I think, besides the actual inclusion of Roger Rabbit, and the presence of the tube of Dip, the train tracks with the "wrong side" sign is probably a reference to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, since they seem to be in the middle of a dilapidated old warehouse and covered in brick debris, leading directly to "Main Street."
    Also... Paul Rudd is a direct reference to the MCU, albeit in a very tongue-in-cheek way that only makes sense for Paul Rudd to be the cameo.

    One of my favorite things about it is that there are scenes where you have no idea how long it must have taken to make. Some places where it seems they used Live Action, CGI, Cel shaded animation, Stop motion claymation, and straight up puppetry, in the same scene. Outside of (inside a tv or something, which they may have had in some places) the only other thing they could do is actual non-Cel Shaded 2d animation into the scene itself, and they'd cover about all basis of visual delivery.
    Before Disney had their own channel, they played on certain regular TV channels and had the Disney Afternoon. Timed for when the kids got back from school.
