    The more videos I watch the more I'm loving my h3. Most things are so simple as far as fixing or customize. The hardest thing so far was the full front end led conversion...but you helped me with that threw these videos and couple messages threw Instagram. Everything else is absolutely simple....can't wait to get a h2

    Hi, thanks so much for the useful info. I’m strongly considering plastic dipping my H3, previous owner had a corporate wrap on the entire thing & it’s been sat out baking in this S.Nevada ☀️ so needs a little help. Any idea how I tackle the flaking chrome on the door handles to prep them for primer & then plastic dip? I plan on covering all the chrome, I find it somewhat gaudy & dated.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  Před 5 lety +2

      Thanks for watching! Not really sure how to take on the flaking chrome when it comes to plastic surfaces, but since you don't like the chrome, you could always just sand it off and use real paint. Plastidip definitely works great and I have used it a bunch before, but if you never have the intention of reverting it back to chrome, real paint might be easier to deal with the flaking. That being said there are spray paint brands out there that offer a Chrome-like finish, but it would be hard to guarantee that it would come out 100% perfect.

    does the spray ever rub off the handles?

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  Před 4 lety +3

      Depends on how you good you apply it. You do need to sand off the chrome so it is bare in order for the stuff to apply better. Also apply multiple coats! I would recommend Dupli-Color ETR250 Bedliner spray. I have had it on my H3 Grille for 4 years now and looks great. Do not use Rust-Oleum 248914 Auto Truck Bed Coating. I used it on my mirrors and hood louver and the stuff is flaking really bad less than a year later.

    I have a 2006 Hummer H3. For the last 2 years I've had RPM issues. I added 20" rims with 35" tires. I've taken it to 6 different places. They are telling me that the torque converter is getting confused between 3rd and 4th gear because the tires are to big. And apparently there is no program that can calibrate the speedometer for a 2006. I have had this thing gone over time and time again. The transmission was rebuilt twice because the original shop thought it was transmission issues. But its not. It's hard for me to believe that I would have a problem like this due to the tires. But that's the only legit answer I have gotten over two years. No engine light or codes showing up. This last place is a very well reputable place that I took it too. They had it for 30 days. Any ideas other than the tires?

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  Před 3 lety

      35in tires shouldn't be affecting it that much, but if you want to give it a try, there is a program to calibrate the speedometer. Its called HP Tuners, its a tuning software for many different types of vehicles. How it works is you need to buy their OBII device called the MPVI2 and then you will need to buy 2 credits. You redeem your credits to your specific vehicle. Then you have access to change hundreds of different parameters in your vehicle, like tire size, transmission shift points, gear ratio, fuel to air ratio, etc, etc, etc. You can usually find the MPVI2 and 2 credits bundled together on amazon for $350-$400. Changing the tire size only takes like 2 minutes, but if you want to do more complicated things, it might be better to go to a performance shop it get it tuned instead of getting HP tuners device/credits and doing it yourself. If you want to go this route, look for a shop that tunes GM vehicles like corvettes and camaros. Again, I really don't think the 35s are causing all of this. When H3 owners upgrade to 35s they don't usually bother with a tune unless they are putting on 37s.

    • @4lowmode
      @4lowmode  Před 4 lety +1

      I am note sure actually. I haven't had that happen to me. Could you try putting sliding back in the handle into the tail gate and opening it? If not, you might need to use a coat hanger or something in the shape of a hook like the orignal door handle to get it open. Unfortunately, there is no emergency trunk release since the cargo area is technically not separated from the rest of the cabin and it is not required to have one.

      The thread on the smaller part of the door handle has probably seized to the bolt. When you tried taking it out, you probably broke the thread free from the plastic handle piece that was holding it in place. You'll have to brake that smaller piece off because its already broken, and then hold the thread with some vice grips while loosening the bolt. I have had that same thing happen to me before.
