  • In this short video I explain briefly about different types of peripheral neuropathy. The main focus is the one that is called a length dependent neuropathy as it affects the longest nerves in the body first. It is the most common type of neuropathy and for patients who have been diagnosed with diabetes they are at risk of developing this type of neuropathy. I thought it could be helpful to have a brief over view of this as often you may be told you have something such as a peripheral neuropathy and this may end up causing stress and worry. It is a common type of neuropathy, it rarely if ever leads people to be unable to walk. It can increase risk of falls. The treatment which I will talk about in later videos involves both medication to treat pain but more importantly exercise can help to preserve the nerves that are left and can also in some cases help with pain.
