It was time to trade him 2-3 years ago.
In the next two weeks he should go to a contender
@@brandonmoucatel9630 I don't believe any team would take him now unless the Angels paid a large chunk of his salary.
Exactly… contract looks heavy now for any team who’d want him. Angels would need to eat a ton.
It was time for Trout to realize Angels are doomed, team at that point still had high hopes. Ohtani started to shine, Trout was formidable, they had future to look forward. Now that everything went to the dogs, it's a fire sale.
@@NK-qx6kk He's one of the reasons they're doomed he's always on the shelf. At some point the Angels have to stop "protecting their investment" and put some pressure on him to actually play through a bit of pain. Dude is mega soft at this point.
Rendon’s contract is WILDLY bad 😂
Not for rendon 😂
renDONE !
Atleast Trout puts up numbers unlike Rendon
That’s an understatement
Nobody gonna want him unless angels pay a decent chunk of his salary
Trout needs to be in a winning team!
Inside baseball (scouts, executives etc) everyone knows Trout has always wanted to play for the Cardinals. If he’s traded, it’s the most likely place he would go. It’s likely Albert obv had a big influence on him. It would also be ironic if he were to be traded there given the Edmonds trade from the Angels to Saint Louis 25 years ago.
Rendon has screwed the Angels WAY more than Trout has.
That Rendon contract is obscene. Trout at least was the best player alive when he signed his.
To the phillies
Trout to the Cubs makes a ton of sense if they’ll pick up some of that money owed to him. Cubs could basically fill their roster out with guys ready or about ready to play in the majors
Trout isn't going anywhere.
@@tedjohnson7485 thanks for the super helpful update
this is arte’s choice and as long as he is owner he’s never gonna trade mike trout. that’s his cash cow esp if they lose ohtani in FA.
Ohtani is not coming back to Angels trust me.
Who's gonna take on that contract knowing the guy loves to spend loads of time on the IL?
Giants
Yankees, Phillies, Dodgers. He's still Mike trout THE GOAT #27
@@enmanuelpena8711lol. That's not how it works..nobody wants to be saddled with that albatross contract based on PAST success. That's a formula for failure. Pujols contract was terrible. Arod extension was bad. Decline matters
@@ericpantalone5229 yeah, but l mean he's still élite.
@@enmanuelpena8711 Doesn't matter if he's elite he misses large chunks of time for injuries that don't seem to cost others the same amount. Guy was on the 10 day IL for months last season because he can't manage any type of pain the same the previous season. For $37M a year you would think Mr. Trout would play hurt like so many other players. Especially last season where they needed a playoff birth to possibly keep Ohtani in an Angel's uniform but nope.
Arte Moreno needs to stop trying to compete for a market that is hugely dominated by the Dodgers and be willing to no longer have a superstar big name attached to their team. At this point, keeping him is more of a marketing move rather than a baseball move. The Angels are Orange County's team, not LA's, and he needs to be okay with that and just focus on building a balanced winning team for their fanbase rather than try to expand it. Of course trading him will mean he's going to have to cover a big chunk of his remaining contract, but he still has good value. In a year or two, he may not have any suitors and they'll be stuck with him.
There's no reason to trade Trout unless he wants to be traded and the team that trades for him pays all of his salary and gives the Angels some good prospects.
He would fit perfectly in the giants
Giants and Cubs both make a lot of sense imo
@@aduncaroo He has a no trade clause and wont go to a team who isnt a contender! Giants and Cubs are geting up there but they still a few years before they are close to being real contenders! He isnt going to wait especially with his age. My guess is he goes home to philly or switches over to the Dodgers if he doesn't want to move his family!
@@pardeepsekhon1582 if you don’t think the Cubs are contenders with Trout, Counsell, and whoever else they sign this offseason, playing in the NL Central, you’re out of your mind
Who will protect him in the batting order. The Giants don't need a superstar they need three or four good solid players. As a long time Giant fan I would go after Jordan Montgomery, Adrois Chapman, Michael Taylor, and Jorge Soler. These four players would help them much more then one superstar.
phillies gettin mike trout
Yes. It’s been time.
Yeah the cat who is hurt all the time and owed a few million bags solid business move
That pretty much all their kids (NOT just the vets) ended up on the IL is probably the most concerning thing that no one mentions when talking about this franchise stuck in purgatory
Yes we have their training, medical staff sucks
I don't think it's crazy to suggest trading him. I do think it's crazy to show those players as the basis of a great "core." Neto and Adell are below league average hitters. Shanuel was barely league average and plays a position (1B) that demands hitting prodution. That just leaves O'Hoppe and Moniak both of which are good complimentary pieces but certainly wouldn't be the base of a team that is looking to rebuild after losing 2 of the best players in the game. Again, trading him isn't a crazy idea, but that core is mediocre at best.
Tim Salmon was in the same position stuck in there and won 2002 🐒🐒🐒🐒🐒
I don’t understand why Mike Trout signed a lifetime contract with the Angels
Never. Re-sign Ohtani. Angels need to add SP to contend.
Rendon will make 38 million and play 38 games lol
Imagine if the angles traded trout and Ohtani before the dead line last year
Good luck..With his back injury and salary you missed your window to bring major talent back..I wouldnt want him unless you eat a ton of money..I prefer my guys on the field and his back is not getting younger, its going to get worse and worse
I honestly believe the time to trade him was about 4 years ago. He deserves to be on a winning team because the angels have done nothing to help him throughout his entire career. Shohei ohtani leaving it was the end of an era for this angels team. Whoever's running the front office deserves to be fired whoever the owner is needs to sell the team because they clearly don't know what they're doing and don't know how to build around a superstar once in a lifetime talented player. And that is exactly what Mike Trout is. Same thing with shohei otani. They were are both the absolute rarest types of players you could ever get in MLB history. Let alone sports.
As an Angel fan, will miss Ohtani and Trout. But, until they can develop some consistent pitching depth and a ace starter , dependable middle and closing relief pitching, the Angels will continue to flounder in last for the next 4 years at least
Phillies Should Go Get Him😳
Go get’em Cubs
The Angels need to sign or trade for a great starting pitcher. Then fix the blowpen. They need to steal Andrew Bailey from the Giants since they stole him from the Angels. He's a great pitching coach. Fix the pitching mess and they'll win a lot more games. The Angels need to trade Anthony Rendon.
Mike Trout is the Dame Lillard of Baseball loyal to a team who can careless about putting a winning team around him.
In their respective leagues, Mike Trout is a way better player than Dame which makes it even worse too
Bro they had the most injuries in the league last year and they still won 72 games if they could’ve won 80 when healthy they can win 90+ with reinforcements
Two years to fcuken late Angel sadness makes me happy 😆😆😆😆😆
Does the MLB Network make this video every year lol?
Getting him to a competitor would be great for baseball, but how can you even move that contract. Aging curve is coming soon + injuries. Even if Angels retained say half of the contract, would a team want to spend 19M a year on someone who has averaged 79 games a year the last 3 seasons? The term on this contract makes it way too risky even if we know the numbers that Trout could put up if healthy. Only team that should even consider this is the Mets since they don't care about luxury tax, but again, they aren't even trying to compete in 2024, so what's the point.
St Louis Cardinals. Would be a perfect Cardinal!
It sounds great on paper but who are the fans going to go watch then?
A day late, and a dollar short. He has now obtained the injury bug, and it will be hard to trade him
Yes
This team never seems to know if they are rebuilding or contending. If I was a stud free agent though and they offered me a megadeal I'd run. I can't think of a team with so many big free agent busts.
you keep saying "last year" when you really mean "this year" a bit confusing
Trout doesn’t have what it takes to play for a big city team. He just wants to stay safe in Disneyland where no one cares about baseball. I’d love to see him play in New York - he’d crumble from the stress in two weeks.
going by history, Angel FA signings typically are awful or dont play up to expectations. Trade Trout and get prospects back for him.
Simple answer: Yes, trade him. What gets mentioned finally in this analysis is that Trout hasn't appeared in more than half their games in three of the last four seasons with the Angels. Whatever the reasons or excuses, he's been injury prone. When he's healthy and on form, he's an excellent player. But even last year, when he was healthy for half the year, he went through a stretch when he was in a bad slump and claimed he didn't know why. This is a guy who isn't worth the money and the emotional investment from the Angels. The same is true of Anthony Rendon, who can't seem to stay healthy. The problem with trading either one of them is the nature of their contracts, which would ask another team to give up talent and pay a lot to one of those unreliable stars currently not earning their salaries.
Again, the Angel's have never ever been successful when build around the idea of "buying a championship", that's not Angel's baseball, and it never will be.
Mike trout contract doesn’t end till 2030 . Good luck finding someone who’s willing to take this contract.
All the talent in the world could be coming up, but the front office will still find a way to 🥴
Yes! Yes it is! They are wasting his career!
Trout needs go on a hardcore anti inflammatory diet, take up yoga etc etc. Not joking. WHen you're that injury prone, it's not just 'bad luck'. I bet he's been treating his body like he's still 20. HUGE difference between 20 and 35 my man. Time to take things seriously if you want to keep playing ball.
He can do all that but it wouldn’t help a fucking hamate bone break
You’d be surprised. Food sensitivities etc can inflame tendons . Ligaments etc. raise risk for injury. I’m well versed with hook of hamate injuries. Interpret the mri and cts of joints etc.
HELLO!!! He has a No-Trade in the contract... end of story. Kenny failed to mention that.
Trout will go to the Yankees ,or the Phillies just give him a chance
Mike trout need to be in New York Yankees
The Stinkees aren’t contenders 😂
lol terrible argument you could grab any 5 players from any club that are npot stars and make good arguments that they will develop but that is not how it works by definition all opf this players close to 100 OPS+ are very close to being average players whihc means thousands are like this. And also the angels biggest issue is pitching not batting even if the reasoning hold you would still need to prove that you will have pitchers to back up your young "talent"
At this point trade him for a bag of chips
Time to trade, Mike Trout to the Boston Red Sox.
This should’ve happened at least 3-5 years ago. What a SHAME that nobody, at least casual fans, never seen the man play in October on national TV. That’s heart breaking. Sorry. MLB deserves better. They gotta feature their stars. Does Trout even have that killer instinct mentality to even want to win? Or is his fire just simmering?
Killer instinct? What do you want the guy to do? This isn't Basketball where one player can take over a game. Think about how much more terrible the Angels would be without Trout
Send Trout and Rendon away, build a team around Ohtani. That’s the only way Ohtani might sign with Angels.
Yes he is wasting his career there
I think the Angels are going to have to eat minimum 50% of Mikes contract to get anything back for him.
Might as well keep him if you gotta pay half of it
@@Mrwilliamblast not if they get a haul for half his contract. Otherwise it makes no sense.
@@CalebWilliams2030 you can’t get a haul for a guy who’s been injured 3-4 straight seasons . Mike is angel and will be an angel
If this was 3-4 years ago teams would of been interested
I’m sure Mike has a no trade clause , so he can veto most trades, also remember Mike wanted to stay , he could have chose free agency and didn’t so unless there is a block buster of a move Michael Nelson Trout is an Angel for the foreseeable near future . And those rookies need some vets to lean on
Angels problem is the poor pitching system..so with the owner 😂
Nah we just rarely draft pitchers
Griffin canning, Ben Joyce, and Reid detmers, add to that core as well. The angels actually have a decent amount of talent and maybe if everything clicked at the right time it could work
Mike trouts prime is over. He will never hit over 300 again no team should trade for that contract unless the Angels pay 50-70 percent of it.
Trout to SFG
Makes you appreciate the guys who played 20 years and put up 150+ WAR like Mays. Trout is the best we can do and its doubtful he gets to 100 with all injuries and noticeable decline.
Rendon is dead?😅
He deserves to stay on the losing Angeles. He signed to contract knowing how the team is.
Lol. Outside of O'Hoppe those Angels prospects are super meh. Calm down, Kenny.
No one wants Mike Trout anymore he’s old, and becoming more injury prone. 36 games in 2021, 119 games in 2022, 82 games in 2023 the Angels needed to trade him 4 years ago.
Mickey Moniak is a beast. Phillies should have kept him
Trade Mike and Anthony get young players back rebuild time
Past time
He’ll be a yankee no doubt
Who would trade for him he’s an expensive injury prone player
Y’all watch ur mouths 😴
lol
Trade him only as a package deal with Rendon.
At this point I don't think anyone would want Rendon. Injury plagued and not exactly productive when he's not. However, he's not a leader type and if you're going to quasi-rebuild, you don't want his personality in the clubhouse.
If the A's get him and pitching they have a shot at playoffs..
Injury machine waste of money get rid of him now!!
No keep Mikey boy in Anaheim.
Trade Ohtani to Dodgers.
Ohtani is a free agent, he can sign wherever he wants to be.
@@Jens-we3vg He wants to be a Dodger. I know it. He likes LA. He loved Mookie. He wants to be on a winning team that he doesnt have to carry.
Cubs get Ohtani from free agency. Trout follows ohtani in trading top prospects. Resign bellinger
Phillies
Yeah to the cardinals
Get him out of that wasteland.
Dodgers about to land Trout!
Wizards traded Beal and Blazers traded Dame. It’s time to get rid of Trout NOW
Mike trout is not the best player I'm baseball. The most overrated player in baseball
Yeah ok
Learn how to speak English
The Angels haven’t won for nearly a decade and you’re betting on Moniak and Adell becoming guys like Dwight Evans, Bernie Williams or Derek Jeter? Please. That’s the case to keep Trout?
Here’s the truth. They blew it for years with both Ohtani and Trout. Nothing. Ohtani is outta there without looking back. He wants nothing to do with them. Who does? Remember at the trade deadline when the Angels were buyers and then unceremoniously dumped them all to save a buck a few weeks later?
It’s a pitiful franchise. Trade Trout, get something for him because they already blew their chance on a good return for Shohei and move on. Bank on the young guys you listed, sign some under the radar free agents and hope for the best while waiting out this awful owner to just hopefully one day sell
“To save a Buck”lmao that was to get under the luxury tax threshold to get a higher pick if shohei leaves and to reset the luxury tax penalties. Every one of the mlb franchises would’ve done the same thing in that situation.
Jo Adell is really, really bad.
He has improved allot actually
@@Mrwilliamblastwe need to trade him I don’t think we’re the right team
