- In this video, we roll over Collins' BMW E30 and proceed to fabricate a new inner wing using only sheet metal. We successfully create the entire inner structure using basic tools and time.
This tutorial is dedicated to restoring a classic BMW. As with all classic car restorations, we continually discover more rust, making this nearly a comprehensive guide on how to restore classic cars.

I think you quiet enjoyed that in the end, even though that was tricky as to do.
It is very satisfying when finished :)
It will look great in the underground garage...
Dare I say it?
Yes, I will, this motor is gonna make your Delorean look 2nd hand brother!
😊
YCR for the win!
@@pip5461 Let's hope it doesn't get flooded. 🙈
The way this man ply's his craft should be considered therapy, personally i feel so calm after watching him..
Haha I do try to make them chilled :)
@@yorkshirecarrestoration And you succeed.
💯
Makes me feel like im re living junior year video production class. This type of music is what the teacher listened to all year. Same soundtrack though; drives you a bit crazy after a year of hearing it.
12:58 The precision you're able to get by hand is incredible. A true master of his craft
I could watch this man perform his talent all day long
Thank you :)👍
@@yorkshirecarrestoration me too
It's such a joy to see true craftsmanship at work. Kudos for admitting to that error and not just editing it out!
The little retrospective at the begining was a good reminder of how Collins car looked like a pretty clean example until you start poking around and unearthing what's hidden. You guys are saving it just in time. Fantastic fab work as always Steve!
Thank you 👍
Steve is a national treasure.
Hahaha hardly but I do appreciate the comment :) 👍
A masterclass in fabrication, Steve makes it look easy
Its not
Years of experience and a natural gift for the work
It takes me weeks to do what Steve does in a few hours
Plus lots of rude words !!
And getting it wrong and having to start again
Colin is going to end up with a fantastic car
Thank you for the kind words. I always find a nice cuppa helps as well 🤣
The metal fabrication is like a 3D puzzle I just don’t know how you do it is so additive to watch🤩👍
If a celebrity car, superb craftsmanship, calm and cool voice over from Steve, great camera placement, smoooooth soundtrack and a lil extra attention to the editing from Ryan wasn't enough, they pull out a laser to top it off. 10 / 10.
Skill and knowledge beats youth and vigor every time.
Enough of the “slow old man” jibing please! 😂🤣
@@philtucker1224 I’m an old ,slow, man , screw the young uns.! I get it done no reason to keep asking me every six months.
It sickens me to see you form body panels so effortlessly!
I know if I tried to do it the scrap bin would have been full of my failed attempts.
I would like to endorse previous comments about the therapeutic nature of your skill, soothing voice, and the excellent choice of background music 🎵🎶
More power to your elbow Steve!
Thank you. We really do appreciate the comments as it help us keep doing the videos:)
Your mastery of craftsmanship and dedication are a credit to you..!
Thanks 👍
CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) just like the guys in bad obsession motorsport...nice work!
Crazy amount of work for such a small bit of metal!!!!!!! Skills on display are off thr chart!!!!
Thank you for the kind words :)
What an amazing job another future classic bmw saved and kept on the road Steve ! 😉👍🏻
Thank you :)
SIR....all i can say is that You are by far My Favorite ARTIST ever.....Fantastic Craftsmanship and Skill.....Thank You SIR for sharing your time with us all
Absolute mastery, amazing how you take a rusted rotted piece of metal off the car and replace it with new fabricated piece perfectly matching every detail. A joy to watch!!!! 😀😀
This company goes above and beyond for their clients fair play. And Colin this is my favourite BMW I have many fond memories of doing donuts in one of these 😊😂
When you embark on this level of restoration never expect a small bill when it’s finished .
This detail and finish comes from years of experience .
🙂
Amazing. It's fantastic seeing a proper craftsman doing what he does.
Likely my most off topic comment ever, but my marriage suffered corrosion and I wish there was a Steve who could have fixed it 😊This channel is so addictive.
🤣 if I could I would :)
Wish granted...His name is Jimmy On Relationships and he has the best You Tube videos. I hope this helps!
@@annepayton6461 That woman has gone. Thanks for the info. I have new cars. The same way new women. Current is 2023 M5 Competition.
Your fabrication skills are top notch
Thank you very much :)
You must have the grip strength of a Silverback!
Years worth of tin snips have given me an edge when squishing things :)
Clicked on the video thinking it was something else, couldn't look away! Master craftsman at work, I subbed after I watched to the end!
Great Craftmanship as always Steve. I really enjoy all of your Videos. Cheers Brother, George from Down Under in Adelaide, South Australia. 👍
Thank you glad your enjoying them :)
Outside cosmetic looks never guarantees a good solid vehicle. You guys prove that so many times... Nice work as usual...
Thank you :) 👍
An old family friend, long passed, was an expert sheet metal worker restoring antique cars. To see him fashion new body panels from a flat sheet using hammers and various rollers was amazing, even though I was only about 10 or 12 at the time. He also used to restore suits of armour for several of the castle collections in England. Such a shame this is a dying art.
it is a pleasure watching someone who clearly enjoys what they do. 👍👍
Sheet metal artist!
Thank you :)
Every time I see a new video on this restoration it reminds me of the old riddle: "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." This is art at its finest!
Pleasure to watch. Thanks Steve!
Thank you for watching :)
I am glad Colin introduced me to this channel. I have been enjoying this and your other projects.
Thank you and glad your enjoying the videos :)
Hello, Steve. You guys have fabricating skills that is beyond comprehension. You and Ryan are just fabulous. Well done, Guys.
This channel is a depiction of dedication to the craft. I wish i could restore to the level you do. My 87 Cressida would be a lot nicer if it were so. And always a great soundtrack to go with it. It's quite interesting how the music is different depending on who's featured doing the work, haha.
Ryan films and edits his vids and chooses his music. I do the same :)
You are an incredible craftsman. NZ
Thank you :)
The way you handle and shape metal sheets is an art. Bravo!
Thank you :)
He must have the forearms of a Greek god with the amount he's using those tin snips.
It dose increase your forearm strenght after a few years haha
Just by looking at the Job I would give up...... amazing professional skills!
I'd love to spend a day with you! Welding fabricating 27 and still learning bits from you in these videos ,can I come visit and learn some more ? Love it !
Steve, unsurpassed artistry! I know there's a lot of measuring, but it still seems like you just have intuition on how to draw and craft a lot of the curves that make the panels perfect.🥰
Thank you. It’s just a little practice :)
you Sir, are truly an artist. Great work!
Thank you it is satisfying when done :)
You make it look so easy, I know it is not, and you have tremendous skill! It is really awesome to watch your videos.
I can't wait to get my car over to you guys in November, to work your magic on it, the work on Colin's E30 is simply amazing!! 😍
Coach working at its best, such a dying art!
This was so calming to watch
Another quality vid Steve! Just a heads up, its Colin Furze, not Furse! (Im sure he wont mind though!😂)
Thank you , all sorted :)
You Sir, are a master.
Thank you we appreciate the kind comments :)
You're a wizard, Steve!
Thank you it’s much appreciated:)
Oops... you spelt his name Furse instead of Furze at the beginning of the video. Otherwise this is some of the best content anywhere on CZcams. Amazing stuff.
Sorted and thank you very much :)
If you ever do a Hillman Avenger, I want to see it!
That first panel you made was so complicated I was amazed how perfect you got it ! You have some incredible skills I could watch this for hours and hours I’m even gonna get myself a welder and have a go at a few jobs myself I’ve decided ! I gotta start somewhere lol
Nice work my good man 👍
So glad your going to give it a go yourself :) that’s what we are about:)
This craftsman is basically a forensic sculptor for automobiles.
I just discovered you! What a great channel! It surprises me that Colin would put this kind of money into this car, I mean yeh, it’s a BMW, but he could buy 12 of them off the shelf. It’s really cool to watch you work.
It’s good to know this artcraft is still around.
Amazing work. Great filmography! I’ll be back!
So many techniques for metal forming, really a masterclass. Thanks Steve.
Never cease to be amazed at your level of skill. -- The patience to do this type of work is at another level !!!
It's pure sculpturing. Fascinating and mesnerizing!

Just insanely amazing
I find this so fascinating.

This was some incredible metal work, nice job!
You're clever buggers. But when you step back and look at it it's logical. A few decades of experience helps a lot though...
