@@rodneygaul2227 I'd welcome a pure infantry T'au vs pure infantry Guard army battle. I'm sure that the guard would be very formidable opponents and it would make for a fun game. That being said I don't know anyone near by me with a pure infantry guard army. I can field pure infantry T'au though. If Mordian wanted infantry T'au vs infantry Guard in the future I'd be down.

I did find it kinda funny that at no point did they really talk about the weapons we get at all, for example with krieg, plasma guns hitting on a 2+, possibly re-rolling 1's if you have a scour sentinel spare. or how many plasma shots you can get with the rapid fire and first rank fire, second rank fire. I'll admit the kroot are more durable than I gave them credit for though
Pretty much. The kroot feel like a goody bag, they can do a little of a lot but not a lot of anything. Which isn't what you want as your battleline.

He also missed Kriegers having regenerating models and Cadians with a Command Squad don't care about stealth.
Main reason Kroot are so inferior to Guard is that they look like mutant shell-less turtles while our boys all look like the glorious badasses that they are.

He missed His Imperial Guard's secret battleline unit. Tempestus Scions, after all, if his argument is based on the kroot detachment, then the glory boys can have their argument of having a Tempestor Prime warlord.
Orly? Chickens are been than Krieg? Can they take grenade launcher, plasma gun, melta gun, power sword, plasma pistol, and regenerate casualties? How much do Kroot cost?
7.5 a model, they are slightly more expensive than kriegers (6.5 a model), and they also need a detachment to have their buffs, they can have 2 leaders but their leaders aren't as good as marshals.
@@janehrahan5116 Yeah, our Kreig boys with our marshals get 5 up feel no pain, regen and if you put a wired boy you get 4 up save

@@LoneEagle2061human technology is not the same as Imperial technology. The Imperium hoards a few scraps of dark age technology but is mostly unable to produce tech on the sophistication of the Tau. And don't get me started on the Eldar or Necrons. Everyone knows the Necrons have ludicrous shit, and the Eldar are basically living their equivalent of a Mad Max dystopia and STILL have way better tech than the Imperium. Sit down Mon'Keigh.

In his defense - kroot were absolutely positioned to be one of the best detachments in 10th before they caught like 4 stray bullets/nerfs that completely dumpstered one of our four detachments.
They are also more expensive than every guard squad. You'd expect them to be better point for point

He keeps on bringing up their detachment. But, here me out...what if you do not use their detachment? All the things he is comparing against the guard, the guard always have, even when we get our codex and have different detachments to use.
Also, we have multiple different types of infantry with different styles. The Kroot are just...one group.
The infantry guard challenge has been issued!
He kept saying" in their own Detachment" but when you take guardsman in the combined regiment, they have lethal. What would hurt more , 60 lasguns with lethal, or 40 kroot rifles

he completely forgot how our guard get our special weapons, and lethal on their Kroot, so in a fight our boys in masks come out on top
Kroot Shaper and 20 Carnivores vs Death Corps Marshal and 20 Death Corps there's no chance for the Kroot. Go first or second, it doesn't matter. Only chance Kroot have is to get into close combat, but by the time that happens, they'll be down to maybe 10-12 and the Shaper. And since the Death corps have Regen from Medic, it would only be a matter of time. 3 power swords, and lethal's, it's just no comparison.

If Kroot were allowed to be played on my table they would likely die fiery deaths from Chimera Heavy flamers, then be served up by a ratling cook as "Mordian Spicy Meatballs" to feed the rest of my troops.
It's like trying to compare apples and pears. Only the apples are just plain, bog-standard apples, and the pears are more like a complete fruit salad with added angry shovel noises.
I wish that he discussed the points differences more though.

120 kroot is the same points as
60 catachans
60 death corps
3 command squads.
The point differents makes it possible to ad in the support to guard. Thatis kinda big.
For evey character you ad to the kroot you can get a character (straken, harker, psykers, marshals). And they ar all as cheap or cheaper then the cheapest kroot character.
Im pretty sure in Pariah, Sweeping Engagement and Search and Destroy are the only 2 deployment maps you can grab the CENTRE objective from scouting turn 1... good luck with that.

As a fan of both of these channels, this was a FANTASTIC WATCH 😂
The easy counterpoint to stealth is Catachans, Hellhounds and Flame Chimeras. The invuls might save them a fair bit, but if they're backed up with a couple Leman Russes, or even a Rogal Dorn to counter the heavy Kroot, then those invuls won't help nearly as much.
But yeah, on an infantry level, my money's on the special weapons to even it out.

Kroot have no special weapons, are more expensive, plus all our officers and characters have an answer for all their abilities. Stealth? Cadian Command Squad has Cadia Stands. Better shooting? Take aim plus Castellans give sustained hits on top of baseline lethals.
The reply might be, "But then we're not just talking about battleline," to which my response is "its the Guard: unless you expect that unit to die turn 1, its probably going to have at least 1 character attached."
This is painful... The only army I own.. is Tau....I have roughly 1500pts of Kroot. Kroot are good at movement and scout, but they can't kill *anything* . I'd kill for Guard special weapons. Even in the Kroot detachment they are still too fragile.

I started out with tau, recently started collecting guard, but I’d never say tau are better I’d say equal to but I could be mistaken they both have pros and cons, really tough call, fun video nonetheless

Why does everyone always forget about the scions?

@@danwilde4712 scions can be battleline. If you take a scion command squad as your warlord then scions gain the battleline keyword.
Disagree about Kroot having better Grim Demeanor, 20 Kroot shooting into something that's basically already dead allows them to punch down sure, but the last 9 Krieg which will typically be all your special weapons will kick the crap out of almost anything and allows them to punch WAY out of their weight.

Edit: to clear it up a bit, I was talking about battle line units not models. Kroot are a single datasheet. We have 4 datasheets, for a potential of up to 24 legally field-able battle line infantry of variable sizes.

Ok, now talk about the Kroot special weapons. They are pathetic, even just flamers on Catachans are better than the junk they get.
Oh, almost forgot, the Kroot Insulin only works vs. ranged attacks on a 5+, against melee it is a 6+. Even against ranged they are essentially as good as lesser demons, granted with Stealth, so a bit tougher to take down but still possible.
I actually think the strike teams just better than kroot.
