A lot of kids just don't do well in regular school curriculum, and many eventually fail and drop out. Which leads to a lot of bored kids getting into trouble.

This young Micronesian man has a good mindset, and looks for a good future. Why are Micronesians discriminated in Hawaii? My opinion is that there's a bad group in any race. The fighting, drinking alcohol and drug use by Micronesians are a small percentage of the population.

Born and raised in Hawaii, my dad is Hawaiian, my mom is Micronesian.
I grew up in the 90s early 2000s... during a time when people were just learning what Micronesian was, by the time I was in high school I witnessed the stereotype worsen.
I was lucky to be Hawaiian and didn't have to face the blatant racism as hard as every Micronesian faces here. But I see it all the time.
All I have to say is, what benefits are you guys talking about? Micronesians don't get special benefits, if they're getting any help from the government, those are the same programs that any American citizen can apply for as well.
And when Micronesians come to the states where do you think they move to first? Hawaii Kai? No, they go to the cheapest places available, which means having to settle for places well below the poverty line and high in crime rate...
Flowers don't grow well in sand as they would in soil, but they still grow according to their environment.. we should nurture them and help them find their way into a better life here.
Before you say, well they should go back to where they came from. Ask yourself where are your roots from and should your roots have gone back when they came to Hawaii?
Young Micronesians grow up here asking themselves why does everyone hate me? We should be welcoming them, helping them, learning from them. They're from the same ocean as all of us.
You've done it for all the past immigrants to Hawaii, the Spanish, Portuguese, Puerto Ricans, Japanese, Chinese, Filipinos, Samoans, Tongans... so why is it so hard now to help the Micronesian community to integrate?

There's plenty of local racism against Micronesians. I've seen graffiti at bus stops: "Death to all Micros". Folks from Micronesia would rather be referred to by the name of their specific country or culture, such as Marshallese, Chuuk, Chamorro, Ponapean, Kosraean, Palauan, Kiribati, etc. As with all people, some are the nicest you can meet, and some are the worst, just depends on the individual. He found out Micronesia was the fastest growing population in the world living on small dead reefs with no economy except the government gets money from the US military base and from foreign ships paying fishing fees.
Next he learned to tell them quickly that he is not Chinese because they are extremely unfriendly towards Chinese people in Micronesia.

I'm not going to speak for myself, I'm going to speak for someone I don't know. :: but sometimes people call the cops because they are worried that young people don't have enough guidance to seek opportunities that the general public can agree are safe for everyone. Making money from selling drugs means you don't pay tax, you don't contribute, and you encourage others to sacrifice their futures in the public economy. If people think that they can call the cops on you, and then your future improves, they used to do it a lot more. It's not about race, you can see the individual, and see if they (as an individual) might be working toward a future that the general public feels safe around, or toward a future that might cause people harm. It's something old timers used to say, that the police aren't there to arrest and punish, the individual officers are only there because they want to help you when no one else will. When someone does murder, people still vote to let that murderer live. When people steal, people still vote to let that person have things, and when people call the police, it's not because of race, it's because they want that person who they call about, to have a bright future.

Whether your from Micronesia,Polynesia,Melanesia we are all Pasifika, and we are probably the smallest minority in population compared to much larger groups in this world, such as those from Asia,North America,South America,Africa,Europe,Australia.
You can't lump all Micronesian People as bad apples, because their is good and bad in every group.

It’s so sad what happened to these people, and all the locals here that are ignorant to serve them hate need to see how much they struggle. Please show them aloha. They are our island brothers & sisters - the government did these people wrong just like all the other islands that became colonized…and they had to start over with little to nothing. Unfortunately, poverty & no resources lead some of them to crime. The Micronesians I know were so funny & loving, we have much in common & they have a beautiful culture.

All my experiences with most Micronesians has been a bad one. Not one of em that I’ve met has been nice, I live by a family of micros. And everyday they allow their older kids to constantly trash around where we live. They constantly are doing bad things, it’s not a stereotype, it’s statistics. If you wanna be treated nicely then treat others the same way. It has nothing to do with Micronesians as a whole. I’ve asked my neighbors multiple times to clean after themselves because they just throw their trash anywhere they please because they have no respect for Hawaii or Hawaiians. Instead these kids act like they can do anything. Super disrespectful. Any time there’s a fight you know a Micronesian bringing a knife or some type of weapon. Stop acting like everybody from Micronesia is about peace and love. Nobody is gonna deal with bullshit down here. From micros, haoles or anybody.

Piles of junk cars..screaming and yelling obscenities during regular domestic violence outbursts...no aloha from them...just one hassle after another.
