- In this video we photograph one of the coolest locations I have ever been to. We are treated to amazing light and are lucky to have the ideal conditions for this location (minus the dang wind). It was a struggle but I am very happy with the images I came away with.

Great watch. Thank you. I spent a couple weeks in Utah last autumn. Amazing place. You captured it very well.
Thank you, Paul! I wish I had a couple
Of weeks out there. I’ll definitely be heading back
nice adventure, beautiful images, love the colors & tones
Thank you!!
That's a really nice location and you got a couple of really nice images. It's really nice the phone stood up to the fall and a really nice vlog.
HAHAHA well played.
Awesome images! Really loved the color in these.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed them. Such a great location. Definitely one I’ll be returning to!
What an epic location! Looks familiar to me though… Great shots
Haha thanks buddy. Definitely need another shot at that place!
👍🤓
Lol @ 2:55... wind is the single biggest pain in the *** with the 5DSR at longer focal lengths. The pano looks great. I almost would've made a second version using just the bottom 3rd of the pano, that section looks cool too. I disagree with the thought on the image at 10:10, I think it definitely works and looks great. I actually like it better than the pano. Might look great in B&W too!
Haha the wind was ruthless the whole trip. I keep going back to the images and flip flopping on which I prefer. I think I need to make some prints before I decide. I think I may have been too harsh on the second image, but still prefer the individual ones. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
@@MrNegative looking forward to seeing how the prints turn out!
At 10:34 in the video, have you tried cropping that image to square?
I really do like the second and third images.
That’s a good idea, Bill.
To be honest I need to revisit that edit altogether I rushed a bit to get the video out and am not really pleased with how I edited the images. I’ll definitely give the square crop a try though, thank you for the tip!
To my untrained eye the image that you were disappointed with looked great to me, until you showed the 2 alternate compositions. They were stronger. Does that wind typically die down after sunset?
Thanks, David! I may have been a little harsh on the first image but agree I still prefer them as individuals. The wind did tend to die down after sunset, but for a couple of nights it was still pretty windy at night. We had two nights calm enough to attempt some astrophotography.
so sad to see the damage (opening aerial footage) done by tire tracks in the delicate, otherwise pristine landscape🥲 Love your colour adjustments to bring out the blue and gold contrast 🙂 and surprised your telephoto lens did not have a lens collar... does the nodal head provide the weight balance, especially in windy situations.... 🙂
I know, the damage is pretty extensive. I shot a series of drone images focusing on the tracks through the area that I will call “scarred”. Eventually I want to do a whole series on natural areas and the impact we have on them. My 400mm does have a collar but you’re right my 70-200 does not. I have a collar but prefer just to use the l bracket. I’m usually shooting panos with it, so I like the nodal slide to rotate around the nodal point and minimize distortion. The lens, being a non IS f4 is very light so I don’t have any issues with balance. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
thank you for the update and response... I just returned to Canada after spending 3 weeks tenting in Utah and Arizona....look forward to the other videos in your series@@MrNegative
Wow that sounds like an amazing trip! I’m jealous. Wish I had more time in Utah I was only there for a week
