I have so much love for you and Joana and as I told Joana, Chris didn't have a relationship with his family and this collecting community was so supportive of him and me and our kids. Damn it John... I wasn't expecting to have tears in my eyes today. This community is the best. These videos and the people we meet in this hobby can be amazing. It helped me get through the loss of my father a few years ago and we'll happily be there for you when you need us.

I one hundred percent agree that family is not always blood, John. Im an only child and my wife is an only child. All our lives, we've had to go out and find our brothers and sisters in the people we met. And our friends are as much family as if we were related. My wife and I also found each other from two different sides of the globe, and I'm thankful for her every single day.
So sorry for Laurens loss. And so sorry for the very tough family situation you have been through John. I’m so glad you have Joana by your side and you always have the community supporting you. We have some friends who are closer than any of them, and we consider them our family. So I agree, family isn't always blood. Although I have weaved my way in and out of the funko community over the years, it amazes me that I feel like I can always come back, and I'm welcomed with open arms.
I've always felt very welcomed and the toxicity that permeates through various areas of fandom have luckily never really impacted me negatively.
I love what you and joanna do for this community, I love that if I'm having a bad day, I can come to your channel and see some cool pops, get in a few quality laughs, and just forget about anything that may be troubling me, even if only for a brief few minutes.

It has lead me to travel the US and also discover amazing funko creators and slapshotpops has been a very special one. Wow, this hit close to home and I do understand what you mean. Starting to collect with Grayson and share that helps both of us and I know finding a community that is also doing this that interacts with each other and supports one another was something I did not know about when we started. I don't think I had any interactions with Chris but for sure exactly the kind of thing I would expect from some great people we have met through all this. I am sorry to hear about his passing. having these little collectibles is awesome but some of them that have a story behind them makes them way more valuable than the PPG value. My parents and my wife’s parents did not want us to get married. Relationship has suffered since. My wife is the best choice I have ever made!! She is my best friend and been there every step of the way. The last 10 years have been extremely tuff on me…6 surgeries and mental health challenges. Dana was always there for me. Love her soooo much. Thanks for all the great content and fun!

I'm watching from Ireland and I've been watching the two of you for years and you never fail to bring a smile to my face with every video!! John , God blessed me with two great daughters. I had to go through IVF treatments to get pregnant. God was faithful and gave me the privilege and honor to become a mom. I have a tender heart for them. I would give my life for them if I had to. What makes them happy, makes me happy. For me to be a mom is so, so special. So that is why my children will always be first. I would take you under my wings with no hesitation. You have a big heart. You are a wonderful person. God gave you Joana because He knew she would make you complete. I pray that your family someday come to their senses. John your video at the end brought forth a flood of emotions for me. I went through similar situations with my family and had to make the toughest decisions of my life. It has been 37 years and my family still will not acknowledge me. I have reached out every year to try to fix things but every year I get no response. I pray that your family does not shut you out forever and realize soon what they are missing. Outside of my wife and kids this community is also my family and I thank God that they have accepted me. This group is an amazing group of people and I want them to know they mean the world to me.

It is also sad that your family had not accepted Joana. I had faced the betrayal of my family when my wife was dying and after she passed!
They not only stole our retirement savings, but they robbed our storage space and took all my Funko Pops along with other items and sold them!

much respects to you bro that was touching I had to tell my story. GOD BLESS to you and your wife and everyone else in the funko world. My dad just passed away last April 2023. I am the only child from his side and he lost his legs after i was born.. I have never had contact with my mother since I was 2yrs old, I am now 49 years old and I have started collecting comics because I like the hobby and the community. And now I can have something I can bond with as a child and as a friend to other who collect comics. I may not be big like a lot of them on CZcams but I only started a year & a half ago.

Brother preach...i appreciate sharing something as personal as this. I can relate with keeping toxic family away and shield my kids from the toxicity.
My oldest and I do Funko as a bonding with each other. I share other hobbies with her that we like to collect or do and look forward with my youngest with the 3 of us. My wife whom I love and support and had to choose doesnt too have a big family and she faces the same toxicity with parts of her family. Our go to song is "broken together" by Casting Crowns.
Anyways I just wanted to share and Thank you for sharing something so personal again and maybe we will never meet unless its thru what we love to do or if you ever visit each other's home city. Until then Brother keep up sharing the passion of what makes you guys happy and hope to talk outside of youtube.

Let me start saying RIP Chris, he sound like a great guy and wish I could have met him. This was hard video watch for me, because I'm still grieving over the lost of mother last year.
