How To Read Grain on The Green

Using the hole can be the easiest way to read the grain direction on the green. This applies mainly to bermudagrass greens found mostly in the south-central and south-eastern US. If you are missing putts frequently, it might not be that you are reading the greens incorrectly, it might be that you are not factoring in the grain of the grass which will pull your ball right or left depending on the direction of the grain. Additionally, it will make the putt faster or slower depending on whether or not you are putting with the grain or against it.
