very helpful video. thinking about a 250L as a first bike. had ATVs for years and have the shifting down so I'm not worried there. time to learn to put my feet down when I stop :)~
Great Vid there Bud, i'm old school at 54, and prefere the seating comfort of the old school XL/XR style over these uncomfortable CRF-F models, like sitting on a 2x4.Its winter here still, just nabbed a 2008 CRF-230-F for $700 Can dollars, thought i better see what i'm in for by watching this Vid,lol...
Hi you can get a lowering kit for the 250L, it will lower it 3inc also I recommend a 1 and 1 qourter inc spacer for the handle bar mount and lower the front forks 1 inc.
Crazyconadian22- ya it's very good to learn on for sure, very forgiving if mess up. I've jumped it, Hill climbed, all kinds of stuff and I'm able to keep up with 250's and up. I wanna go camping with it one of these days, go way out with bare essentials. Thanks, has been hard, but if you keep positive and fight you can beat anything.
I've got a Yamaha ttr230 2014 and they're a great trail bike altogether, only on mine instead of 82km per hour I've done 120km pinned. But I imagine that would be because of the weight of the rider, I'm 70kg and my friend who is only 50kg can get 130km on it. I'm thinking of upgrading the front forks to yz forks (I have seen it done before) and also upgrading the muffler to an fmf pipe and possibly a header if I can find one that fits, Also if the yz forks are a significant amount bigger I will heighten the sag on it. And if you want to get better results in speed I would recommend getting a 15 tooth front cog and also rejet the carburettor.
Nice video. I agree about the off road ability with the stock tires. It has been my experience that they are great on pavement but as soon as you get into loose stuff the front feels like it's washing out all over the place. I want to change mine up but don't know what to get. What might you recommend? I see on a post below a Dunlop is recommended. Do you agree? Cheers, Chris
Fun comparison. I wait just shy of 200 lb and they put me on a CRF 150 in a riding course and that sent me uphill just as fast as the other guys on their 230s.
Thanks good comparison vid. I’m shopping for 250F I like the fact that’s lighter 265 in weight compared to the 250 L 315 lbs. Does the L look bigger than the F model? Thanks.
Do you want more on road or off road capability, thats the difference you want to determine. You can make either one better on either with the right gears, suspension ect.
Michaeltrucker22 If one removes the baffle without re-jetting it will result in damage to the engine since it will run in a too-lean condition. The re-jet and un-cork job (removing baffle and air box bit), is an easy job and resulted in dramatic improvement in power and much easier starting and warm-up.
I bought the 230 simply for cost reasons, in Canada there are 2004 230's for 1500$ Canadian (1000$ American (est,)). It goes reasonably fast but I'm 6'7" and i have stiffened the suspension and beefed the suspension for extra seat clearance. It is a great bike for younger ADULTS, if you want a first bike and you are above the age of 16, I highly recommend, but if you are younger, look into a 100 or a 150 then move up.
Define bruh+ im 12 and im like 5 ft 11 and i sold my crf 150f today for au $2250 to get a 230 and i don't know whether to go no da or Yamaha plz suggest
My brother has a yz 250 and when you twist the throttle without pulling up you would nearly flip the thing. The same would happen if you changes the gearing to like a 13t and 50t.....
Honda 230 sounds exactly like my Yamaha 230 except mine is geared differently it was converted for racing and the kid broke is leg on a different bike and sold it without ever riding it.
I'm really don't know to get now I was look a crf230f 2014 yestoday and I was really amazed at the price $5200 at this store fully stocked and I just want it for going for about 11 hour rides but I'm also in getting my L for bike +car and I don't know what to do cause I'm not a tall bloke so yeah
Pollardoh _ if your going to have your license soon get the 250 for sure...i would go that route regardless.i had a crf 230 when i was in high school for the first year or 2 then my brother had it for another 4 years ! awesome bike no complaints we put exhaust and jet kit and airfilter and removed the airbox lid! beefed up the suspension and dropped one tooth on the front sprocket! and it was an amazing trail riding dirtbike my brother rode with use for 4 summers on it and i we all had yz 125s and cr 125s and shit..and on top end the speed was the same...just no wear near the acceleration speed! now the 250 is mostly everything the 230 has but newer suspension and a bit nicer set up for on road! and wich minimal mods ( knobbier tires, suspension and some power up kit) you would have an awesome bike on and off road especially for your age dude! all the best hope you enjoy whichever you decide to go with !! Anthony.
Hi im going to be going to college and id like to get a dual sport for getting my self around the small town i'll be in aswell as doing some off roading. Iv never rode a motor bike ever, and im very short (5"3) big a thick guy for my size (around 160 lbs). Would either of these bikes be a good starter bike for me, in you're oppinion? I was able to find both on the used market in my area
Hey mate, I thing the crf250l is better for riding on the road.. It is much more capable to do highway speeds. I would recommend going to a dealer and sitting on both to make sure the height isn't an issue, however the crf250l is reasonably low for a dual sport. Good luck with your decision and happy riding mate!
+BikerBrendan hey man thanks so much for the advice and super fast reply! Im not really looking to go fast on the bike, or go on a highway. But besides speed, how is the 230l on roads?
+pastywhiteguy69 The 250 definitely sits better on the road and feels more planted due to it being much heavier. The suspension is also much softer making it more comfortable for road riding. The weight and suspension however do make it harder to control off road.
Great video that helped alot you earned a like lol how tall are you im 5'11 and 15 years old would I fit the 230 I went to a dealer near my house and im to big for the 125f lol im the same height as the 250r is the 230 about the same height they were sold out so I dont know
Hi, I was wondering if this bike (Crf230f) would be a good fit for me. I am 13 (almost 14) 5'8'' (172.7c cm) and around 160 lbs., and I really want to get into dirt biking, and have never ridden before. I was told that I would grow out of a 125 very fast, and this was the other one I was considering. Thanks mate!
+Declan Holland (DECKHOLLANDMEDIA) Honestly man, you'll grow out of the 230 to fast. Just go to crf 250. They're a great bike. Im 5"8 and also 14. Mine is amazing and never had any problems with it. Also got it second hand.
I love my 230f I got mine as a gift after leaving the ICU from cancer. If may only be a 230 but its equally as fun as all the bigger bikes.
I agree, they are excellent for their size and bulletproof!
I'm glad to hear you left the ICU through the front door, brother.
Congrats on getting out of ICU!
"Sold it to my girlfriend" LOL, a candidate for man of the year award!!! well done :-)
damo010 that’s what I was thinking😂
I was thinking the exact same.
Thinking the same
When girls think they should get everything for free
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone refer to the crf 230 f as light
What is a lighter option? Need two to haul on the back of my camper
That was some skilled riding staying in those lanes in the field, nice mate! Thanks for the "real" review.
very helpful video. thinking about a 250L as a first bike. had ATVs for years and have the shifting down so I'm not worried there. time to learn to put my feet down when I stop :)~
as a weekend warrior, I think the 230F is perfect, and the 150F for my son.
I think we'll have enough power to have plenty of fun.
all tested in the outback of Australia
Awesome GREAT review.
Simple n Honest n No Krapp!
Well Done.
Thank you n regards.
Love the review mate, helps me before I buy

nice video and making me homesick mate!!!! would love a CRF230 - grew up on DT175 and its like a modern but better replacement.

Very informative. Thanks!
Would take this to some trails on the weekend? Considering one as a first bike for trails. Thanks!

Great review
Clutch wheelie in 1st or 2nd gear? What works better on Crf230f
Hi I'm 13 5,8 and 160 pounds should I get a 230 or 250, I have no riding experience but I do know how to shift
With all the mods, including the 305 kit, the 250L can be made to really go.
I had a crf 150r is there a big difference? ? Between these two?
This is a Brazilian dream
You mention seat height - crf230f 34.6 inches - crf250L 34.4 inches, very little between them. Interesting comparison.
Nice video mate 👍 on the crf230 take the baffle out of the exhaust it gives it a bit more take off but don't take out the spark arrester
Thks,nicely done
I had a 230 and now a 250l and I think if Honda put some wp upside down fork they could make this bike compete with ktms.
a crf 230 f goes 104 km/h and the crf 250l goes 128 km/h
I bought the 230 simply for cost reasons, in Canada there are 2004 230's for 1500$ Canadian (1000$ American (est,)). im 290 so it struggles to pull me but you should be fine, or look into raising the handle bars
Define bruh+ im 12 and im like 5 ft 11 and i sold my crf 150f today for au $2250 to get a 230 and i don't know whether to go no da or Yamaha plz suggest
how much is the crf230f ?
I hope you're well!..?

On your 250
What is "fairly tall" exactly? I'm 6'6 and that's "fairly tall" to some people.
i think i might get a CRF230F and i will put a fmf power core 4 on it
Honda 230 sounds exactly like my Yamaha 230 except mine is geared differently it was converted for racing and the kid broke is leg on a different bike and sold it without ever riding it.
Dude I got my crf 80 f up to 90 km per hour but it's geared real high
I'm really don't know to get now I was look a crf230f 2014 yestoday and I was really amazed at the price
$5200 at this store fully stocked and I just want it for going for about 11 hour rides but I'm also in getting my L for bike +car and I don't know what to do cause I'm not a tall bloke so yeah
Wtf mate

A lot of people your height ride 450s I think
+no_good_namez nope not at all lol
CRF230 was my second bike after a RM80 Suzuki, the bike was so slow to a point where it was fast cause you could give it more
Your 250 would sound good with a full yoshimura exhaust systerm
I'm about 5'9" and 190lbs. Is this a good bike for me? I have some experience
Richard Penicka uuuh yeah I'm 5'10 and I touch the ground with my toes in shoes so with boots you would be fine
Hi, I was wondering if this bike (Crf230f) would be a good fit for me. You arent 5'8" your 5'5" and you should get a crf150 or a crf230 or not a very powerful 250
Jimbo Jones I was 5'8", is your comment an insult, advice, or just a troll. btw crf250's aren't "very powerful"
+Paul Russo dude 172cm is only just 5'6" im not trying to insult you im trying to help jeusu
+Paul Russo and i was saying get the 230 cause you have never rode befor
Jimbo Jones that's what i was saying
I need a 230 will negotiate
Quick question.. I'm a bigger guy around the 270 mark and I've been looking into getting a 230f. think it can handle my weight?
Kg?
+Eagles In Da House
270 pounds.
hell no. It would pull you but I don't think it'd be any fun. It ain't gonna haul ass and give you a thrill
+andy hedgecock
I'm looking at an xr400. that should work lol
Hell that's what I'm looking at an Xr 400. A really tough bike.
You dont even mention the suspension, just one of the most important aspects of an offroad bike...
GRRB least he has the balls n guts to do a review
What year is the 230
2003 -2020
okay so I'm 5"4 14 years old and have no riding experience so which honda crf would be best for me?
I'd go with a crf150f for now
Joshua Campos A forza 140 bigfoo xD
A cr500
Crf150
Dank Memer nah I got a 230 and I'm not ripping through trails In 6th gear but if you know your limitation anyone could ride any cc.
witch is your favrioute
'which', not witch.
Regards.
last summer I went from an xr80 to a crf230 the 230f is amazing im 15 btw my seat is lowered about 2 inches
jayzee do you still love your 230?
yeah cant wait till this summer to break it out on the daily
as far as mph go id say it probably tops out at about 80 mph I haven't pushed it past that really since I don't take it on the road very often
***** as far as mph go id say it probably tops out at about 80 mph I haven't pushed it past that really since I don't take it on the road very often
+jayzee crf 230s don't go 80mph. They are around 60 mph tops.
hi cool video do you reckon a 230f is good for a 14 year old
Declan Holland Yeah mate, Its a great bike! As long as your tall enough to sit on it and still touch the ground you should be fine.
BikerBrendan cheers man that was helpful and would they be good on the trail
I'm also 14 I'm about 5 foot 8 inches or about 173 cm do you think it would be a good size for me
+Declan Holland (DECKHOLLANDMEDIA) Honestly man, you'll grow out of the 230 to fast. Just go to crf 250. They're a great bike. Im 5"8 and also 14. Mine is amazing and never had any problems with it. Also got it second hand.

"Sold It To My Girlfriend" - BikerBrendan Fucking Legend
I'm 5,5 and I am looking for a dirtbike. I have never ridden a manual or owned a dirtbike. What dirtbike should I get?
crf 230F or crf 150F depending on how much power you want
Get a Kawasaki
Is it low maintenance?????
Ozzie being a low strung honda, it's probably something like change the oil and blow out the air filter once a year.
@Bunnyshooter 223 valve checks on my drz are every 24000km so I'd imagine it's a similar story with the Hondas
i have a honda crf230f and my bike goes about 120 - 130 kmh
Highly dought that lol
You should try a mx bike if you think that has grunt!
Two completely different bikes for two completely different purposes.
You sold it to her. Couldn't you give her it?
+Nick M It's his girlfriend, not his wife... :P
I suppose that is a fair point. I can't say I ever bought any of my girlfriends a motorbike.
