I love it, how it sound for music, of course it's more suitable for 5.1 or 7.1 home cinema, like a movies or surround sound HQ concerts. Of course, if you listen bass electronics music EDM, it give for you MEGA BASS as like extra juice for music, but it's just for bass heads. Now on market Dali IKON SUB MK1 replaced by IKON SUB MK2, but it's the same specification.

Newer Dali subwoofer on Amazon:
US: amzn.to/33WBFCo
UK: amzn.to/343N8jk
DE: amzn.to/3mReu4N
I have a Klipsch 12 inch. Of course, it isn’t as high end, and it has the black finish, a shallower magnet, and the usual non-toroidal transformer on the amplifier. The bass port is, surprisingly the exact same!
great video, nice to see all details of amp. section...no one else shows these things nowadays.Amp. section looks really good, a massive torroidal transformer and a solid AB construction.Filtering caps are from SK, a solid capacitor maker.
People here complain about quality and says SVS subs are much better. I just LOL to them. Here on youtube you can see SVS's own introduction videos and you'll see how cheap calss D amplifiers they're using on high end products like Ultra 16, 4000 models. Capacitors on SVS are from a brand which is famous with cap. leakage , early fails. Amps. on SVS subs.are JOKE.
yeah, that torroidal transformer looked like a beefy boy, which is definitely something you want in a sub woofer.
You don't understand why they do it the way they do it. They need powerful d class which most likely wont be heard anyway to use quite high dynamic eq that allows them to hit subbass as no other subwoofer of their size. This Dali won't hit subbass in movies. If you play interstellar or edge of tomorrow start svs will win. If you play music dali most likely will win.
Dali makes some very good sounding speaker, but not so in woofer.
Wow that transformer thou. Most active subs have one that is 1/5th the size of this one.
For this price and power need very impressive parts :)
Congratulations for 30k subscribers.... From India
thanks
Next time remove amplifier and push the driver .... lol
3:00 cardboard tube for the bass port???
exactly, from a kitchen paper towel :)
well, that's not good for a 1000 dollar sub but at least they are recycling
Curiously, if you can get cardboard that is thick enough, and hard enough - It is a perfectly viable material for loudspeakers.
I did some DIY building with different materials, and frankly, most of them will produce a reasonable sound as long as they :
a) don't get too hard (metals and plastic often sound brittle and tinny)
b) become too soft (thin wood, cloth, soft cardboard, leather)
There's a range in between those two extremes, where as long as it's rigid enough, it'll sound just fine.
That said, don't fit two 12" subs to a parcel shelf in the back of a car and expect audio excellence. 🤣
But stuff like, ½ inch hard cardboard (aka solid cardboard) is ok - Not too unlike plywood, actually.
Edit :
Just found out you guys call it "Hardboard" when talking about hard pressed cardboard .. oh well.
Gratz on 30k subs!
Please test this sub
of course :)

@@Techscrews SB34SWNRX driver, about 85L in volume, 100mm port, 35cm in length. The amp is an IRS2092 based class D amp. The sound is very precise, or as some would call it "tight", but not as "in your face" as a car sub.
Same. Tuned to my preference through trial and error, large area port for reduced port noise, and comfortably eats 1000w without breaking a sweat.
DIY can usually be compared to speakers that are 2x-3x more expensive, however this thing looks like a joke for 1000$. Didn't have chance to hear it but build quality isn't something you should expect at this price range.

To be fair, there were some decent enough parts in there.
The transformer looked beefy, the capacitor choice is solid and the driver seemed like a decent unit too.
The cabinet was a bit meh, but it'll do, I'm sure. All in all, a decent enough selection, and lets not forget they were made to be paired with the Ikon speakers.

This Dali subwoofer box is a huge difference compared to the $1000 Velodyne 15-inch subwoofer
The build quality of the box alone is much better it even has some nice bracing, also the box has thicker wood for the mounting hole of the woofer , plus the subwoofer itself looks alot better.
Simply said everything is better than that piece of rubbish Velodyne wannabe walmart crap
Only minus point is that the subwoofer was partly glued to the box so A- for the Dali and a C+ for the Velodyne price wise

golden terminals at the back and then those poor connections to the speaker itself ?
not "golden terminals", but "golden color terminals "
Curiously, golden connectors only make sense, if it's a connector that is used often - Something like a headphone jack, is used daily, and suffers from corrosion (particularly oxidation), so a protective covering in the form of Chrome, Silver or Gold, is useful as they react less with the air.
For a connector like the one inside of a loudspeaker, where it is nice and dry, you have far less problems with constant corrosion from either mechanical usage, or weathering.
In fact, the kind of crimping connectors they used, make a small groove into the male connector part when you slide the female connector over it, thus removing the oxidised layer, making a very good metal-on-metal connection. Also, it doesn't corrode since air cannot get into the gap, because it just sits there and is only very, very, _very_ rarely taken apart.
It is the correct type of connector to use inside that case.
That looks really cheap
Definitely Not worth $1,000.

Curiously, crimping is generally better in an environment where you have a lot of vibration, because metal that has been soldered has been weakened a little bit by the heating, and may end up with metal fatigue and break after a few years. With crimping connectors you have much lower chance of metal fatigue and it's also easy to get consistent production quality with crimping connectors.
