You could wrap them in rice paper so you can eat the whole thing. Maybe use a brush to spread a thin layer of oil on them to keep the rice paper from sticking
@@FormidableGamerI’ve eaten a little plastic wrap. It ain’t the end of the world. Even thanos only ended half of the world, so it’s not even as bad as that.
@@blackleague212even if it’s not the end of the world, you still shouldn’t eat plastic wrap. It’d be a pain to have to constantly remove the plastic from each bite 😭
Something very cute for first time sushi eaters! It’s very “ western” and also Japanese. I thinks it’s adorable! I would like some pieces to be wrapped in sushi paper still on top of the fish, and veggie options. Also smaller ball size, those are real “ American size” sushi pieces, I’m American but I want mine a lil smaller. This is so cute!
Something very similar to this actually already exists in Japan. It's called temari sushi, and according to the japanese CZcamsr "Let's ask shogo", it was invented because they would be easier for geisha to eat without ruining their makeup. I still think the gumball idea in the video is pretty cool though.
No but as a sushi enjoyer and HUNGRY I will be pissed off just trying to not eat these balls whole with or without the plastic wraps still on. As the other commenters suggested you can do the same thing with rice papers, but the balls won't be sushi wraps anymore (in principle at least), right? Either way the first thing I'd do is just to eat these whole upon first seeing them, regardless of the plastic wraps. Food is for eating not for playing, let alone art. People got more important things to do than to waste time unwrapping these by hand before grabbing them back with chopsticks, only to watch them unravel when you're trying to dip them in sauces. And the rice at the bottom of the thing... Use spoons to scoop them out of there? This is why sushi as they are is already perfected as is. Don't fix what's not broken.
Wait, is there still plastic wrap on them at the end? They’re in plastic in the gum all bowl and the others are still wrapped in plastic when he eats one so did you just peel the plastic off before eating it?
It's edited..... The one gummy ball you have seen in the end has shiny surface like plastic..... But in the very beginning where he picks it with stick before putting in his mouth you can clearly see it is not as shiny as plastic as before..... So it's definitely edited.....
There's a cut between him pulling it out the machine, and right before he dips it. He pulls it out, holds it to camera(still has plastic), lowers it a bit and still holds it, and riggt at that point before he actually dips it down into the sauce you can see it lose the perfect bal shape, and is slightly discolored. They did it really smoothly though, it's pretty hard to see
You can also try dipping the sushi balls with thin melted sugar glaze like Chinese tanghulu so when you eat you get a thin crunch while biting and a little candy vibe 😊
If you’ve had the dish before, which I have, it’s easy to eat. It’s like popping a bubble in your mouth. The plastic separates easy from the actual dish it’s self once you pop it. But if you’re a stickler for plastic and don’t want it in your food like most people, then don’t buy the dish. This kind of dish is meant for people or foodies who want go out looking for different experiences and such. Fortunately for myself, when I had the dish at a food and wine event I had someone explain to me how to eat it, the story that was being shared and as we had partook in the dish was so captivating that it didn’t matter to me that there was plastic around it. I did just as instructed and ate it just as I was told and it tasted amazing(especially with the sauces that were hidden in the middle). This dish isn’t meant for everyone🤷🏽♀️ But it is very tasty!🤌🏽☺️
yep that was the logical thing to do with that holder. they’re so adorable and this was such a fun idea. if y’all do end up displaying that just for fun or even for sale i would make sure the rice and nori can be seen at the bottom so it’ll look like a lil fishbowl too !!!! love this
ppl talking about the plastic wrap without knowing it's common and a similar dish called onigiri (triangle rice balls) are molded with plastic wrap and put into a lunch box with the wrapping, keeping it in it's shape and without making a mess in the lunch box 🤦♀️ it's easy to unwrap it when it's time to eat...
So, I’m huge traditionalist when it comes to food but in this fashion, it ensures that when you dip your sushi, it does not contact the rice (so it doesn’t crumble). It’s actually quite clever.

rice paper has a pretty chewy consistency, which i do like - but i don’t think i’d enjoy it as much in sushi :’)

Beyond the catastrophic idea it is, tanghulu has to be eaten fresh or the sugar melts off.
Maybe have the sugar flavoured like soy or hoisin sauce
There's probably some molecular gastronomy process you can learn to actually turn them into fully edible spheres
