I don’t think people realize how much you still have to do to the image before you can sell it. AI is so bad at doing hands for instance. You have to go in with photoshop/photopea/gimp to fix a lot of mistakes of ai. I see ai generated images all over Etsy with no sales whatsoever and I can tell its because all they did was removed the background after they generated the image and didn’t bother to go in and fix the problems (like extra limbs. Bad looking hands. Weird coloring. Random lines). It’s actually a lot of work to put something together that people will want to buy.
Not only that but you need at least 500 listings with 10 images per listing if you want to make money. What makes or breaks etsy shops are lots of reviews/sales and having a lot of variety/listings. The example you showed is a very simple idea that’s easy to get 10-20 good images out of but if you want to sell clip art you are gonna need to come up with 499 more to actually make money.
Also, there are some things that don’t produce good images at all. For instance, ai can’t do octopuses. They always come out with too many ugly tentacles. So don’t think this is a get rich scheme, there’s actually a lot of work even if you use ai.
This! AI has gotten better, so there's less of those weird hands/feet now, and the faces aren't something out of a nightmare anymore, but it's still AI, and it's still pretty noticeable (in most cases). The least people should do before putting them up for sale, is quality control, AND a reverse google-image search to double check that the AI generated image isn't too close/identical to someone's already existing art.
should try stable diffusion, it has a lot of loras, and plugs for hand fixing and the images come out a lot better at least that what i do for my shop and i do minimal fixing.
Yes and no. I started one of these shops a month or so ago and i add daily, far as the hands and feet yes there still issues and you got to fix it which can be done with other AI and tools, alot the images I sell don't have those issues. I still do alot manual work for a bundle i sell I do put 3 hours or more sometimes into it before I list it and I make double or triple of what I do end up wanting to use cause I will only use about a 3rd of them as some are just way too time consuming to fix so I delete it. You got to do it that way and no one thinks it takes no work at all if they do thats funny. I doubt my shop will return profit least for another month cause of ads and being new. Its a quality and volume game, manual editing is a big part still yes but it don't mean this can't be done. Also I have upscaling software cause the free upscaler will not do when you want to upscale it to a decent size at 300 DPI.
@@grauepoker May I ask which upscaling software you use? Thanks!
@@grauepoker So, i've been thinking all these "use AI for your product and sell on ETSY to make 100s of 1000s of dollars like this other store that I have nothing to do with has done. And, I'll show you how they do it, cause I haven't made money doing it myself to show you" videos are full of shit.
So, has your store turned a profit yet? Is it on track to make a decent annual return. Or, is this all B.S and a waste of time and money??

Thank you for this detailed video, I was wanting to know how to prep and package these clip art images. Thank you very much for this very informative video. Please could you advise on how to ensure midjorney is not clropping off parts of the image? I tried using "isolated" "with white border" and "centered" but they all cut off my image just a tiny bit which stopped them being perfect.

Which aspect ratio do you need for clip art?
It sucks, the market is already packed since January
You should know that you need to open the discord image in the browser and then save that image instead. If you only open the discord preview image and save it, you get a small version of the actual image size.

I know a lot of people who use Famester to monetize this exact type of content. Creat AI art, and then ramp up the likes and views. And they never had any troubles with it.
Fantastic and detailed tutorial. One thing I was wondering though are these clip art images supposed to be for people to print out? Because I'm guessing that whatever images Midjourney creates they are in RPG format which is for device screens rather than CMYK coloring which is for printing and can sometimes change the coloring some to format with printers. Thank you for creating this! Wish you much success!
Thank you for the detailed comment. to make sure the quality remains as on the screen, you can take the images to photopea or photoshop, that give you dpi control as well as CMYK.
Thanks for the great content! i am wondering what custom size in canva I should choose. 2000px x 2000px? I am so confused about the sizes.
I am by no means an artist but I might just give it a go. Who knows, I could find a new passion. Your video has me hooked. This is an amazing hustle that I did not know existed. Thank you so much for sharing. 💝

I say go for it. You just never know what could happen as a result. We all know what happens if you don't even try.
@@tech_obsessed thank you! 😁
Don't worry, you don't have to be an artist, artists can do this with their hands.
You just have to pay for Midjourney so you can use it's gigantic database of stolen copyrighted artwork from real artists without consent :)

This was very good, but I have watched a lot of videos creating and selling on Etsy. There is no way to make sales is to pay for advertising.
Wonderful video, as always.....thank you so much! My question is about image resolution: Should the PNG's be downloaded and saved as 3.0 DPI ? If so, should that be done in Canva, or using some other software before creating the final zip folder to be uploaded to Etsy? Thanks for your help!
The image has to be 300dpi. Using canva reduces the quality, so use free tools like photopea.
Hello thank you for all the information you provide for the community do you have a video for creating art like your logo image of the lady in the green sweater
No, but with the prompt examples i have show on the channel, you can use that to modify to create any images you want.
Love the videos! But I have to ask, how did you make the character on your thumbnails?
I use Midjourney, but several iterations till i get the look i am going for.
@@thezinnystudio I love your thumbnail avatar! May I ask what prompt you used? I’d like to give it a try.
Unfortunately, Etsy doesn't support my country, thus I cannot open a store :((
Great video! If you've tried both, do you find removing the background in Canva is better than Photoshop? (I see that feature in Canva is only in their premium subscription, which I don't have!)
Yes i tried both, they are quite easy. In Canva I find it easier to do everything in one space and download all images in one zip folder. for Photoshop, it just take a little extra time to cut out each piece of the graphic, then have to export each image before zipping them up. If you don't have Canva no worries, use photoshop it will save you cost down the road.
@@thezinnystudio Okay, thanks. I agree Photoshop, although it's great, does overcomplicate things sometimes compared to Canva!
can you do a video about an alternative marketplace to etsy because many people including me have their stores suspended
Working on something already for that
It will be best to make a video step by step for digital product research creation to final upload on platform of your choice. That will be most liked n watch video, if you make it.
Thanks for the suggestions. I have made multiple already on the channel, you can check out one of them 👉czcams.com/video/fyJ4PmD0-_Q/video.html
Thanks! What size should the individual clip art be?
From my research I dint think people have specific size for individual clipart. Just make sure you chose a size good enough incase they want to scale it up themselves.
open in browser before you save.. gives you better images
Thanks
Hi! Are the clip art images on this site copyright free??
Great tutorial an easier way would be just duplicate the pages and delete the images you don’t need instead of copying and pasting.
same thoughts haha
how should you give the customers the folder ,can you make another tutorial about that?
There is an in-depth tutorial on how to create your listing on Etsy on the channel check out this video👉czcams.com/video/244KLsOwpi0/video.html
Of you are experienced in making money online you know one thing: if it's easy to do, it either won't last long, or it's already saturated.
I tried the same prompts on other ai art generator and it didn't generate a clipart. I mean it just generated a photo image. :(
Thanks for this amazing video, but can I have multiple stores on esty selling different things?
Yes you can, but is advisable to start with one, make it work first before opening another, or have a store that allows you sell multiple related products.
What tool you are using to analyze the competition?
Alura
Everyone showing the same store as examples. How much have you made doing this hustle ? Can you give us the inside info so we can make better decisions about if it’s worth it.
SO many vids coming out about selling patterns and clipart on etsy now that ai is here to make image creation easy. Time to saturate the market! 😂❤
I think is the perfect time and opportunity for people to make more money. 🙂
@@thezinnystudio hah, we'll see I guess! :)
How did you generate your thumbnail avatar?
I have a video on the channel that explains how I create them 👉czcams.com/video/VPQoggckLDw/video.html
Hi, this might sound like a question but how do you hide your listings as you work on your shop in Etsy?
Hi, I'm not sure if you still need the info but did you try deactivating your listings? It should hide them while you work on your shop
Love this video!! and THANK YOU! You have inspired me to create these type of art to sell, but l am just afraid of selling something that wont be high quality and then customers being angry or something.
(I want to avoid that as much as possible)
Now, l do have a question or two:
When I create a blank canvas I made them around 3000px (x) 3000px (I saw a graph designer using that)
1) When you crop them (the clip art) do they keep the same quality? (the image is going to stay high quality? not blurry or anything?
2) I see people offering them as PNG too. So, if I follow these steps and I save them as PNG are they going to be a high quality as well?
note that I am using a 3000x3000px when creating all my clip arts.
So after you have upscaled the image, check the upscaled dimension and be sure is more than the 3000 px by 3000px you want to use. If that is settled you are good to go. Even when you cut it out the images will not blurred.
Another thing I would suggest is that you use Photopea or Photoshop when cutting out the individual images. These tools gives you dpi control, which canva unfortunately doesn't offer at the moment. And when exporting to png pay attention to make sure you export as CMYK. (the color format is better for printing). So your customers can get exactly what they are seeing on the screen in terms of colors.
I hope this clarifies your questions. If you have any other questions just ask.
@@thezinnystudio Thanks! great info...Sorry to bother you, do all clip art projects need to be 300 dpi all the time? I know 300dpi is the standard for printing and printing on T-shirts and stuff, but if you are printing in invitation card, or small projects like coffee mugs, do they need to be 300dpi?
@@thezinnystudio how do you upscael?
Etsy is not available in Nigeria
who are the buyers of clip art? what is the clip art used for if there is such a demand?
There are multiple different type of people who buy clip art as example crafters, people who make cards, gifts, scrapbooks.. Then teachers, print on demand sellers etc..
There are people who like to make stuff for themselves and people who like to use premade things because they are not Illustrators so they can modify designs by adding text, background etc and sell on products like shirts and mugs.
I wish you had shown more detail of the steps used to actually cut out the individual pancake images. For example once you put the border around the first image, what do you click? And, then how to do get back to seeing the rest of the images to do the next one? I find Canva a little confusing, so more detail would help.
once you reduce the border to capture one graphic and make sure everything looks right that's it. Then you just copy and paste the cut image, expand the borders again, you should still see all the images, then resize to the next image you want to cut out, and repeat the process till you have all the images you want.
@@thezinnystudio okay. Thank you. I'll give it a try.
Midjourney is good but you can only use so many times of using it after you have to pay so what else can be used as alternative
Their are other alternatives like Blue Willow and Leonardo AI, I haven't tested those extensively. Also you have to keep in mind. That you have to use a tool that provides you the ability to use images generated commercially to prevent having issues.
Why are we upscaling them then moving them to canva to remove background and it downloads at 96 dpi AT BEST so we have to upscale AGAIN to 300dpi?
From the pinned comment on this video, I mentioned to take the images to photopea, so you don't have to repeat the process.
my midjourney in my server doesnt look like yours please can you give tutirols on how you set your server like this and connected it to midjourney
Noted, i make sure i conclude that in my next video that involves Midjourney.
can you help us figure out t-shirt design in mid-journey, Is there t-shirt design site in discord where we can find good prompts, keep up the good work..
will sure look into it. Thanks
I upres the image to 300 dpi which is what most people prefer and when I download it out of canva it is reduced to 96 dpi, do you know how I can keep it from down resing?
You can use photopea to remove the background and cut out each piece. Photopea, offers DPI control and is free to use.
I noticed one problem with canva by downloading the cliparts with a transparent background... they just download to 96dpi but not 300 which is very important for printing the clipart designs. It seems that you need one further step like photoshop usampling the canva images to 300 dpi, but there's another problem, upsamling an image to more dpi decreases the quality like I've noticed by myself and earlier a printing expert on youtube have told that the quality will decrease. I think the best way is too use photoshop primarly for exporting the upscaled designs with a transparent PNG at 300 dpi and start making the listing photos in canva pro after that :) It's a big lack of canva features in my opinion... but if you know a way to come around this problem please let me know! Maybe I just didn't find a solution yet :)
To solve the dpi drop. After upscaling take it straight to Photopea or photoshop (by cut canva), it provides dpi control, remove background and cut out each image , then download them individually, the zip up into one folder before selling. The quality will remain the same.
@@thezinnystudio What about doing the file as pixels and multiply by 300 to get the ppi or downloading as a pdf print to have 300dpi?
@@BiancaEmery504 I havent tried the first option. If you download the images as a pdf, it might be difficult for your customers to use it remember they are expecting a transparent background images.
If you increase the quality slider to full (3.25 I think) before you save the PNGs in Canva they will automatically save at 300 dpi - the files will obviously be a lot bigger though!
Gimp?
The video was educative.Thanks.But I want to know if I can open more than one store on Etsy.
Yes you can, but you would need to use different email addresses. However, is important to think carefully if you need to open a second store, because for whatever reason if one store gets shut down it will affect every other store associated to you or your ip address. If the digital products you want to sell are complimentary have it in one store. Open a second store if it is almostly necessary.

But madam clipart/illustration generated by AI tools like midjourney, will not be accepted by any sites as "Non-Licensable Content" issue. So how this issues will you solve?
What does this mean please?
Hey can I ask how come your mid journey page is all clean and only your feed?
When you are using the paid version, you can have you own private room and you can also create a private server in discord where you can have several channels for different things you are creating.
Do you prioritize setting 300 DPI for the images? I heard that it’s important for printing but its troublesome to do so because I use procreate and it makes my file take more storage. Is DPI important?
DPI is important. Because the cliparts are used for items that will eventually be printed. So you don't want for the quality to degrade when your customers use your clipart.
@@thezinnystudio thats great. Though with what programs do you change the dpi that doesnt take a lot of storage or over 6 mb?
Do you have to add ai midjourney as a production partner on Etsy?
No. You are creating a digital product, you don't need to add any production partner
When you download from Canva a png, in a small dimensions, it will be a 72dpi which is not ok for printing. How to cretate ai images tjat are 300 dpi which is recommended for printing?
In Canva, increase the size of the image before downloading, the dpi will increase
Hey! I have a question....
When I open the downloaded zip folder the images open with a black background as you have shown but when I opened it in my computer it came out with checked pattern background.... could you please resolve this???
Both the black and checked background means transparent background. Sometimes is shows up like that. But to double. Upload one of the image in back into canva. And change the color of the background you will notice is transparent. Just double check and let me know if the problem is solved.
Thank you so much 👍👍👍 its working...i uploaded the saved file on canva to check and it has no background...😊 I am glad you solved my query...😊❤
Use a png background remover
You can, but you still need to separate the image into individual images, and you need other tools for that.
Hi Zinny, thank you so much for this valuable video! I'm sure you're African judging from your accent. Does Etsy support Africans especially developing countries? I heard that they no longer support artists from most developing countries.
Unfortunately Etsy is not available for majority of African countries aside South Africa and Morocco. You will have to explore other marketplaces that is open to anyone from around the world.
God Himself suggested me this video!!! Thank you very much for tutorial!!!
You are welcome
@@thezinnystudio Could you advise what would be the best image size for clipart?
Good guide , unfortunately oversaturated, biggest shops has 400-1500 listings around 10-20 images / listings so 1 shop already selling 4000-30000 pictures and is only 1 shop..
There are like 5million sellers on etsy. An incredibly high amount is just crap. Poor design low quality blurry etc. This definitely takes work. Everyone thinks etsy is some easy way to get rich. I spend at LEAST a full 8 hrs on every design and most of the time that doesn't include creating custom mockups this is actual WORK
I dedicate myself to traditional art and I make my clipart by hand with the technique of watercolor, gouache, etc... after spending hours and hours painting I have to scan them, and later edit them in Photoshop, thanks to artificial intelligence, people with artistic talent have lost a lot of sales in the last few months, but I am very happy nowadays because it seems that buyers are still looking for the charm of traditional art and my sales have skyrocketed again in the last month, AI is just a way to steal other people's art, people who appreciate the effort will continue to go to real illustrators.
Can we sell ai generated clip art on Etsy and other similar platforms without strikes or suspensions; From the side of Etsy is this allowed;
Yes you can, that's why there are videos about it. Etsy, hasn't said is not allowed. Remember these are digital files and the Images you generate are unique to you. No two AI generated images are the same. Some of the stores mentioned in the tutorial are already using AI.
@@thezinnystudio Thanks for the reply :) Do you have a tutorial video, about making some tweaks, or changing the color of the flowers for example, if its a vase with flowers so i can make the color darker, lighter, etc; Many thanks in advance, your help is much appreciated!
