  • In this episode, Traci Brooks works with Kaitlyn Van Konynenburg to answer a common question, "Finding A Distance".
Traci illustrates a target box where you want to aim your horse's front feet prior to the jump.
This box can be placed closer or further from the jump based on the height of the jump.
You don't start thinking about the box until you and your horse are about five to six strides away.
You can then understand better, how to support your horse off the ground based on where you land in the box.
It's important to establish pace, rhythm and straightness.
This training exercise can be done at various level, including poles on the ground.
