Scored this beauty for £15 at a local charity shop - Great find and defiantly a keeper, I bet they were donated a full matching separates set from someone... I prefer this model over the ST-GT650 as it is more square and not rounded like the 650, therefore fits in better with my other hi-fi separates

Great video and nice tuner, I also do prefer the square shape of those. . I just bought one, along with a SU-VX720 ampli and a SL-PS620A cd reader, very good condition. The whole lot for 150€.
wish I could find deals like that here in the US.
I had one of these in the 90's. Your one needs calibrating, it's off frequency on FM, everything shows 50kHz high.

I've just picked up one of these on eBay. It's a bit of an oddball. I thought the 550 & 650 were the only RDS tuners available. Do you have any historical info on this?

does the Dab work on this Technics st gt550 radio or is it not compatible?
This is the ST-GT630, not the ST-GT550, but both models do not support digital radio of any kind (DAB / DAB+ / ...), if that's what you mean...

+Krzysztof Szajter I do not own this specific model but an ST-GT350 which seems to be similar in terms of the remote control. The ST-GT630 doesn't have any remote connector on its back too. The tuner has its own IR receiver built in, probably next to the display, so it works with an amplifier remote even if it isn't connected to any amplifier. However, if you want to be sure every tuner-related key on the remote control works for you, it might be better to have a remote from the time your tuner was made...
