I am a black sabbath etc, metal fan. I went to school in County Clare , Quilty. I am now 73 years old. I consider the Kilfenora Ceiledh to be Irish heavy metal. I also remember the Thulla band spelling may be wrong. They from Clare!

in liverpool, north-west england, they have that famous LIVERPOOL IRISH CEILI BAND.
but they also have a liverpool scottish ceili band. and a cornish one, a welsh one and a gorgeous english one. i THINK theyhave a manx one, too. i suppose you could put them all together and call them Anglo-Celt Ceili bands.
whichever, do any of them ever play abba or beatle music?
    if not, why?
there is a lovely country and irish band out there called THE OUTLAWS. wait till you hear their version of the deadwood stage. they even upstage doris day whose original version was timeless .... until now!!! but ceili music can be nice when you update the music.
normally, p eople associate the ceili types with being holy catholix who wear wellington boots to mass every sunday, and being anglophobic and so on. semi illiterate, probably.

why not blend all the music of the anglo celt isles into one beautiful, gorgeous sound, if you listen to the lovely morris dance music from entland, you will see what i mean.
just blend them all together. do a ceilli disco. you will have a million/billion seller.~wanna bet?

I really don't like a dancer shaking the arms all over the stage and its worst with a traditional band like this. Awfull!

Carlos Herrera I completely agree. The minute she came out flailing her arms around, I was disgusted :( Arms don't move for a reason & it's an insult to the tradition.
