- Jon Kostas struggled for years with alcohol addiction, beginning in his teens, before joining a study led by NYU Langone Health. Researchers found that two doses of psilocybin pills, along with psychotherapy, helped people with alcohol use disorder reduce drinking for at least eight months after receiving their first dose of the drug. Kostas describes his experience as a participant in the study in an interview with NBC News' Harry Smith, adding that he's "indifferent" to alcohol now and has maintained his sobriety since 2015. "There are no words to explain how crazy and shocking this is," Kostas says of his experience.

Nice that there is programs with medical monitoring.
My daughter reached a point of being suicidal after a breakup of a relationship that she thought was perfect. She had given her best and never guessed when he got out of their bed one morning that she would receive a text that he was in love with someone else. She got a few personal possessions and left confused.
It was like they had shared an emotional bank account and she had deposited everything she had and he had closed the account....maybe even overdrew it first. She wasn't afraid to try the shrooms because she was certain that nothing could be worse than where she was at that point. I don't think she will ever trust anyone again, but she has been able to recover and be creative once more. She knows her value and is an inspiration to many.
Thank you for thecourage to speak out.
I've taken psilocybin shrooms many times and I can assure they are sometimes like years of therapy in a single session.
The secret to a bad trip is to invite the core reality of love - obsessively so - dive deep into this concept and you will understand a reality you've never imagined before.
Outstanding! Thank you !
having conversations sober with people on mushrooms is very strange lol.
Legend. What a result
@@WilliamsTyson-gs1ol no one asked and no one cares about your scam
THIS THERAPY IS REAL!!!
Wow.
Who is the interviewer here, it's not Lester Holt?
Nice one. 🍄
Start low...
work your way up.
I found it - Harry Smith
I've seen people lose their mind on mushrooms lol.
They do have a warning that people with or have a family history of personality disorders or are more prone to psychotic breaks.
bLaH blAh blAh
He looks high AF
I hate that I laughed at this, but I really did.
I have never experienced any emotions or visions like this & I have done plenty of mushrooms & blotter. Just alot of laughing & enjoying the nature I am in at the time.
a big part of that is putting on the eye mask and listening to music without words so you stop your sensors for the environment you are in and just go deep within yourself.
Same here, but I think this man set his intention at the start. I hope I can do the same as I need to stop drinking as it's ruining my life.
It's only been seven years , give it another 30 years and see what the outcome is .

He'll probably have dementia
Of course, but he'll be gone
You do realise people used to take psychedelics decades ago and they're still alive, functioning without any problems, right?
so he replaced alcohol with shrooms?
That's what you got out of this?
The shrooms was a therapy / means to get off of alcohol but it was a temporary work not something he needs to do all the time like the alcohol was. So no he didn’t replace one habit with another.
You can't get addicted to shrooms, and I would say shrooms have an end cycle once they've reached their goal
@@josehenriquez90they definitely do, I got wicked headaches for a week trying to “heal”. But I was an abusing it at the time recreationally. Thinking about it for alcohol now
Elon Musk is pro psychedelic.
