Time Lapse “Heron Heroes” with commentary - mixed media painting

- In this mixed media painting called "Heron Heroes" I started with an orange underpainting and made the blue background with rollers. Later I painted with Acrylics and Acrylic Markers and added a last layer of oils.
This painting was made during the Milan Art Institute Mastery Program, it was an assignment for Part 2 (mixed media) Section 7 (Rollers).

Is that subtractive painting? I love this example! I’ve got to try this technique! I think it’s perfect.
Great question! I wouldn't call it subtractive, because I am not putting on paint that I then take off again, but leaving the spaces for the herons out when I am painting the background...

Thank you so much for that input! I actually feel the same. I will have to see how I do that, my Timelapse shutter speed can't be adjusted, but I guess I can slow down the speed of the video afterwards...😉
